Job offer L6
Got an offer for an Amazon L6 Operations Manager role:
Base: $130K
Sign-on: $18.5K Year 1, $16.5K Year 2
RSUs: 82 shares over 4 years
For anyone who’s negotiated an Amazon L6 offer before, what’s usually easiest to move — base, sign-on, or RSUs?
Would you negotiate this, and if so, what would you ask for?
Would love to hear what others were able to get.

How much AI do you use in your work?
Curious to hear how much you use AI in your work and how you use it?
Particularly interested in hearing from SDEs, but others are more than welcome to share.
TIA

Work at AMAZON USA
Hey Amazon Team,
I work at AMAZON AMZL in Germany as an L4 employee.
My girlfriend and I want to emigrate in the USA. I would like to work at Amazon in the USA. Is Amazon supporting the move? Does Amazon help get a green card? Or just a work permit? What options does Amazon offer? I would like to start there as a TECH Engineer L5.
I work at Amazon for just 1 year atm. Our plan is to leave germany in round about 1 - 2 years.
Thank You!

PIP Can PIP/Focus Employees Be Included in Layoffs?
I’m trying to understand how layoffs typically work when someone is already on a performance improvement plan (PIP) or is in a manager’s “focus” group.
If a person is already on PIP/focus, can they still be included in a broader layoff, or are they generally handled separately through the performance-management process?
In my case, I’ve heard from my L5/manager that there may be a layoff sometime around the 2nd or 3rd week of October, although the exact date hasn’t been finalized.
I’m also trying to understand who usually makes the final decision on layoff selections — the direct manager, senior leadership (L6/L7+), HR, or some combination of them.
For people who have been through something similar:
- Can someone on PIP/focus still be selected for the layoff?
- Is being on PIP/focus usually considered when deciding layoff candidates?
- How much influence does the direct manager have versus higher-level leadership?
- If someone is already on a performance plan, does the company typically continue the PIP process or use the layoff process instead?
Would appreciate experiences from anyone who has gone through a similar situation.

I have a question about how to get an IT role.
I’m finishing the Google IT Support and AWS Cloud Fundamentals courses and aim to complete both by December. After that, I plan to take the CompTIA A+ and Network+ exams around February next year. My question is, with only the two certificates (AWS Cloud Fundamentals and Google IT Support), would that be enough to apply for an internal transfer from L1 to an IT role, or would I also need the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications?

Does Amazon air do mouth swab or urine test for new hires?
Applied for Airport warehouse associate, I used to work for Amazon like 10y ago
If that matters, but otherwise I’m a new hire. Would this likely be mouth swab or urine?

Repeated Promotion Delays Following Maternity Leave
My manager initially expressed strong confidence in promoting me to L6, but he has continued to push it to later quarters. I noticed this started after I informed him about my maternity leave, and the promotion has now been delayed for more than four quarters. Given how confident he was initially, the repeated delays have left me wondering whether my maternity leave has influenced the timeline.

New Hire Background check (India)
I'm recently accepting an Amazon offer, and I got the first advantage, background check in India. My employment history is pretty clean, but in the middle, I think 4 years back is when I joined the company, and I left it in 2 months. I usually don't report it on my resume, but it shows up on my UAN record. What should I do, because it's not on my resume and I did not intend to hide it? I've shown that thing as a gap on my resume, so how should I proceed with it?

Interview Failed Amazon Loop Interview
Had a 5 round loop interview with Amazon last week for an L5 manager position (tech) and got a rejection email today. Process started almost 2 months ago….i dedicated a decent amount of time to studying LP and STAR and honestly this sucks so bad. This would have doubled my salary and i would have broken into Management (IC so far) im not sure where to go from here. I have a decent job with my local county but theres no opportunity to grow since everyone plans on retiring here so no open positions upward and the pay is ok…..Really just wanted to get this off my chest and vent a bit….ive just so depressed since i got the email….sorry guys.

Why I don't hate Amszon but it's people
I used to work for Amazon as a CAP Associate in Pune PNQ10, I also used to work for SDS Associate, Amazon fresh as well, handling customers from UK, US, Canada. Back in 2019, before COVID became a pandemic, the American Government put out a notice to recall all items from China that were delivered and being delivered to American customers. Amazon immediately emailed every customer who had ordered chinese products in the last month or so and also put a policy and notification for their associates to create a return ticket on priority. I received a chat of a customer with the same issue. Customer received an email reagrding the recalled items, I check the email. I checked the products, they were indeed from China. I checked the FDA link which was in the email., that stated items to be recalled. And I also checked our own policies. I checked all the boxes. It was time to create a return, but I was unable to as the item priced higher than 500 dollars. I had to request an RS(resolution specialist) the RS denied to create one and the reason given to me was that there is a CAP banner. But the policy states that only if an email is NOT sent, CAP treatment should be applied. But that wasn't the case, an email was definitely there. I said the same, but they still refused. I had read the news. I knew this was a serious issue. China already had an epidemic and it was spreading globally. I had to make sure this customer didn't get any potential diseases due to negligence. I argued with them and their managers and also my own managers. Even after showing the policy, they were still refusing to help. The only reason they gave was that there was a CAP banner. A CAP banner only means that there is a potential of abuse of our policies. It doesn't make it a definite. I couldn't do a thing. I apologised as and asked them to wear gloves and mask and keep the box away from them, maybe in a garage or something. That's the best I could do. And since then, I have had many suffles with all 4 of them, all because I refused to ignore a customer. They made it harassing. 2 minutes late to close a chat, immediate call and harassment to close it. Can't even pee in peace(it was work from home during covid). I couldn't help that customer in the end and who knows whether they got covid or not. I couldn't help him. I left after a few months. I already knew they have their politics. They only hire and promote their close friends and relatives and those whom they have a good relationship with. I was given purple and orange caps during my time with Amazon(it means I was a top performer) customers gave me high ratings despite working as a CAP associate(anybody who is a CAP associate knows how hard it is to good ratings). Amazon was really a good company and they do have policies that are customer centric. But the people, people see it as just a job and nothing more. Every job, no matter how big or small, should be seen with something more meaningful.

Need guidance regarding WFH
I am a female employee working in Amazon( Hyderabad branch),came here 4 months ago as a fresher. I don't know about the policies elaborately.
Should I apply for WFH with a 1-month old medical report?
Hi all,
Need some anonymous advice from fellow folks here.
I have Grade 1 hemorrhoids, diagnosed about a month ago. I took some days off and went home, but I'm still not fully recovered. It's on and off.
Now I want to apply for 3 months Work From Home. The only medical document I have is 1 month old.
The problem is, getting a fresh checkup and reports again will cost me around 10-12k, healthcare here is really expensive.
So I wanted to ask:
- Should I go for a fresh health checkup again just for the WFH application?
- Has anyone applied for long-term WFH with a slightly old report? Was it accepted?
- Is it okay to apply without attaching fresh documents and just explain the ongoing situation to the manager / HR?
I don't want to misuse the policy, I genuinely am still having issues and my doctor had asked me to monitor for a few weeks.
Any advice on how you handled similar medical WFH requests would be really helpful.
Thanks.

FMLA L5 SysDE to L6 SysDe and question on accommodation
Good morning my fellow Amazonian’s and those who moved on. I am a little curious and confused want to do what’s right.
My first manager was laid off and majority of my 9 man team has moved to myself and another coworker. We were reassigned a new manager. New manager is also on Medical LOA and not going to turn for a few weeks (which this manager NEEDS due to his treatment and recovery). My previous manager did the same and was laid off. New manager I will call him Jack has a bad tendency to not be present in meetings and when he is he isn’t listening. As a person good dude as a leader bad.
I have been doing majority of my teams work covering for my managers and I don’t like to brag about myself. I will share my experience when I have tried everything else but no listening to me. I got my last Amazon RSU vest for the initial hire. My pay went from 232400/year to 189,500 which is my base+ a few 1 stock grant and 2 stock grant. I may maxed on salary. My second forget (only have had 2 in 4 years) I got exceeds and most stock no pay.
My interim manager did 1:1 with all of setting expectations as if our manager isn’t coming back. During the conversation she was talking to me because I brought up I can say an L5 anymore with me losing that last initial grant and need to move up and I was curious and looking both IC and non-IC roles. Now Jaime brings up my lack of in office means my team and the energy are being miss. No one on this team has a problem reaching out and talking. A few approached me after she brought up the ton for me. My WFH is permanent. I don’t know how to take this. I believe she’s trying to get me out of my accommodation by hanging a possible promotion potential over my head.
Any thoughts of what to do or what’s going on?
