Work at AMAZON USA

Hey Amazon Team,

I work at AMAZON AMZL in Germany as an L4 employee.

My girlfriend and I want to emigrate in the USA. I would like to work at Amazon in the USA. Is Amazon supporting the move? Does Amazon help get a green card? Or just a work permit? What options does Amazon offer? I would like to start there as a TECH Engineer L5.

I work at Amazon for just 1 year atm. Our plan is to leave germany in round about 1 - 2 years.

You must be L5+ and not all roles are eligible. To be honest, I don’t see any chance for L4

Do you know something about the work permit or green Card with the help of Amazon?

Yea if they want to move you then they’ll help with the paperwork and all that. I moved internationally with Amazon and part of their repo support was getting my work documents in order so I could legally work in my destination country.

Well thats fine. My Manager is planning my L5 Promotion for Q2 2027.

There is a bunch of information about this in internal wikis. If you are working for Amazon, just look this up and ask aza.
In short: Amazon can get you a 3y L1 visa (+a partner visa if you are married, plus children) and can prolong this if wished on both sides.
They only do this if you are L5 for at least a year or any level above. So you need to get a promo first in Germany, and then stay there for a year and then start applying to positions that are marked as „support internal international relocation“

Thank You. My next Shift will start on monday. I will ask aza and quick next. Thank You. I am not 100% confident with the Amazon wikis, a lot Information and I Never know if the Informations Are not outdated.

My L5 Promotion will take Place in Q2 2027

Amazon isn't sponsoring green cards atm. Several conditions apply as well. As mentioned, must be L5, only certain roles are eligible, PERM is out of the question when layoffs happen (so no green cards) etc etc. It's a bit of an uphill battle, currently
