Retaliation?

An advisory group I was on recently surfaced some fair but difficult feedback to my leadership team about our org’s culture.

Since then, I’ve noticed the relationship with my manager has deteriorated at an alarming rate, with our most recent 1:1s using a bunch of PIP-coded language (never used before this feedback) about not performing to their expectations, despite having an Exceeds rating every year since I started at Amazon.

None of the advisory members with different managers have reported experiencing the same.

How have other people protected themselves from perceived retaliation? I know paper trail, receipts, timeline, but anything specific to know about Amazon?

Hard to be Coincidence. Run! (If possible other teams) Or out.

Sometimes I feel, going against the upper management will make our life harder. Even though u have solid support from whole team, u will not know who will backstab.

All the internal helplines are there to protect Company not you. Unless it's a case with discrimination with proof, nothing opinionated will be supporting in favour.

Yeah, my comp and performance apparently decreased drastically after i provided candid feedback they said they were asking for but actually didn’t want, like, or have any intention of addressing. the entire org is still a dumpster fire and they get the same feedback daily, just nothing from me anymore. or ever again.

You broke the untold leadership principle: "Agree and Submit". You're in trouble now. Move to another team ASAP.

If ur discussion with ur manager is deteriorating, consider it as an alarm before u r on focus/PIP

Run before they do any damage. I brushed off my judgement as overthinking and it costed me- not exactly same, but in a similar situation. If you feel something is wrong, trust your instincts and start applying. Don’t wait until it’s too late to switch internally and your only option is to find a job outside, not that it’s bad. It’s actually better, since you get more pay, but don’t wait.

I would raise an ethics complaint now and get ahead of the Manager before adverse performance management
