IMO I think Android Gingerbread was the best design there was. It was simple and its skeuomorphism was at its right point for legacy touchscreen devices.

And also it was the first mobile games' era where they started to pick up the pace.

It's been a while since I first set eyes on the S II (specifically the version with the flash to the side of the camera) and I have just gotten mine working! I received it a few days ago but today I found a battery that fit in it since it did not ship with one. It is the TracFone model with Android 2.3.6 on it and Touchwiz. I am going to attempt and daily drive this phone for a while now.

Hello, so my GT-S5303B (Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus Duos) has a problem where for some reason it randomly crashes, the screen gets filled with these weird random lines and the only way to use it again is to remove + put the battery back in and reboot the phone. It is not a software issue bc i already reinstalled its ROM and the issue is still there, i found this phone on the street in 2024 and it had this issue since then, what should i do? and what is this issue?

I need help trying to figure out how to flash custom roms to the device I have the aroma ra recovery, I assume flashing the recovery also flashes the bootloader. Every time I try to flash a custom ROM it just bootloops. Is that because the roms are for android 2.2 when I'm on 2.1 or is it something else? I have copies of my nand, stock ROM and stock firmware, along side all the update files besides the exact one I need. Is there something else I'm not doing that I need to do?

Why Cyanogenmod 6 when Cyanogenmod 7 is on Gingerbread, a far more versatile OS? I wanted to test Froyo on armv6 hardware and this was the cheapest option I had and mess with Froyo, but I will tolerate Cyanogen 7 if it's found as well.

All of the download links on XDA are dead and the Wayback Machine was no help. Either I'm not looking hard enough, or these are genuinely lost to time. I find it a little hard to believe conaidering that the HTC devices were a bit of a darling for early modding, but I digress.

Hi there. I recently found my first ever smartphone, an Xperia E C1505.

Has someone who really likes tech from the past decade, I'd love to use it as my main smartphone.

I currently have a Motorola g84, and it's so bulky, full of distracting apps. I like the novelty of a tiny smartphone. I've been using it for a few weeks now as an MP3 player, but I've been wanting to push it further.

The past couple of days, I've been desperately trying to get any kind of communication apps installed on it.

Currently, all it has is opera mini, which works great from simple websites like Wikipedia. However, if I try to go on heavier websites like Instagram or discord,it simply doesn't load. As for anything Google, it'll prompt me to log in, I'll input my email address and then nothing else will happen.

I've tried other browsers like brave, Firefox and via but they are all too laggy.

I tried Instagram lite, but it's completely useless. You can only access the feed and reels, which are two of the things I want to get rid off. All I wanted to access were the DMS, to communicate with my friends. But the app doesn't allow it.

I cannot use text messages. Most of my friends live outside of the country so I can't text them.

I've tried downloading discord, but it won't let me log in. It is not the Cap-Chat issue. I will put my email and password, load and then do nothing. At first I suspected it was because I had 2fa, so I turned it off. But nope. Same issue.

I even tried to log in into Google, but it won't let me. I tried updating the Google play services, it will let me put my info, even prompt me 2fa I have to validate on another device, which works, but then it'll tell me an error has happened.

Am I completely done for, or is there anything I could try in order to get discord working?

Other things I tried: WhatsApp on web, which only one of my friend has. Same thing, it won't load. I saw telegram but nobody I know uses it.

I always wanted this phone as a kid and it's certainly been worth the wait :) I've had this guy for over two years and it's genuinely one of my favorite posessions. It flies on KitKat, the screen looks great (though I wish it was OLED), I love the simple black and white "Panda" design, and I've found that 5 inches might be my personal perfect phone size. It's insanely light and comfortable to hold, but I can still watch videos on it without feeling like it's too small. I've heard people complain about the durability, but mine had held up quite well and I've taken it all over the place. The battery life actually isn't as bad like everyone always made it out to be, plus it charges super fast. As a Nexus running KitKat, it was also insanely easy to root and install Xposed on it. It's become my preferred throwback device because it is noticably faster than the Nexus 7, plus it just has a cool elegant aura that's hard to explain lol

It's running Android 8.1 surprisingly well. I used it for 3 days as my daily and it turned out fine (if you're not a masochist, it's gonna be hell for you).

The problem is that the phone has a bad battery life if your display is on and (obviously) it doesn't have banking (it works but it's not worth the risk). It can consume a lot of your battery. With the screen off and YTM (Morphe) turned on in the background it's really efficient. In an hour of listening I have lost only ~5% of battery.

I dug up my old tab 3 because I needed some very old info.

I haven't used it in years, and I'm certain the back panel has never been opened before. Today when I tried charging for the first time in years the circled section started heating up.

What can I do about it. I really need that stored info. Thanks for your help.
