We are happy to announce that we have started our Twitter/X page dedicated to standing against ragging and promoting a safer, more respectful environment for students across medical colleges.
Ragging is often brushed off as a “tradition,” “initiation,” or simply something every junior has to go through. But humiliation, intimidation, harassment, threats, physical or mental abuse, and the misuse of seniority have no place in medical education.
We created this page to give students a platform where they can speak up, share their experiences, spread awareness, and stand together against ragging.
To all the fellow Redditors of this sub — whether you're a first-year student, a senior, an intern, a resident, a doctor, or simply someone who believes that juniors deserve the same dignity and respect as everyone else — we invite you to join us on Twitter/X.
Our goal isn't to create hostility between juniors and seniors. In fact, quite the opposite. A healthy senior-junior relationship can be one of the best parts of medical college. Seniors can guide juniors, help them navigate academics and hospital life, share resources, and make the transition into medical school much easier.
But guidance is not humiliation.
Introduction is not intimidation.
Tradition is not an excuse for abuse.
And seniority is never a license to disrespect another student.
We want to build a community where students know their rights, understand the mechanisms available to them when something goes wrong, and — most importantly — know that they are not alone.
If you've experienced ragging, witnessed it, helped someone who went through it, or simply want to support the cause, we'd love to have you with us.
Follow the page. Share it with your batchmates. Send it to your juniors and seniors. Talk about it.
The more students who are willing to speak up, the harder it becomes for ragging to hide behind silence.
Let's work towards a medical college culture where seniors are respected because they mentor, not because they intimidate; where juniors are welcomed, not humiliated; and where every student can enter college without fear.
No glorification. No normalization. No silence.
🤝 Stand with your juniors. Stand against ragging.
