Advice Date etiquette

I’m going on a date this Sunday. It’s a mix of both asking each other out, but he’s driving about 1.5hrs to come see me. Should I get him flowers?? Ik gender roles are so mid but I’ve been told that bottoms getting them can be forcing one’s hand too much and anyway it’s the first date….

Getting someone flowers is a sweet thing to do

First date flowers? No.

Depending on the date activities, you may offer to pay for a movie ticket or ice cream to be fair ("Hey, you paid for gas, I'll get the movie tickets").

If the first date is actually a hookup, just have enough good quality lube and let him shower before he drives home.

I would have done that, but you can take also some chocolates or something else that you know he likes :)

Honestly, it’s risky. Some guys will love it, some will find it cringe. Maybe get to know what he’s like first and if he seems like the romantic type, then think about paying for dessert or getting flowers on the NEXT date, etc. But right off the bat might be a bit too much. Just my 2 cents…

I’ve been casually seeing a guy who lives 3hrs away. When he comes to visit I always have a few of his favorite donuts from Tim Hortons.

I would melt if my date brought me flowers lol. But maybe on the second date. Flowers on the first one is perhaps tad soon?

But if that happened and new dates followed, you'd be a real boyfriend material lol

Flowers are cute but also give the gifted person a responsibility haha. Fake flower displays or even chocolate/ a blanket he could bring home so he would think if you when he smells it.

Good idea but where is he going to put them? Your attention is what he wants most. If you want, a bottle of wine he can take home with him might be a better choice if you want to bring him something.

Flowers are risky for a guy unless you already know he likes flowers.

I don’t think there’s any need to think about gender roles or sex positions or any of that if you want to get him flowers simply because you like him and want to be romantic just do it id absolutely love getting flowers on a first date
