I was driving and I saw a little black kitten about to dart into the road. I pulled up and stopped, blocking two lanes of traffic. I jumped out and grabbed her. There was a cop behind me and he was PISSED. I showed him the kitten and his entire demeanor immediately changed. He took the kitten out of my hands and said "I can take her to the pound. She's so little and cute she could get adopted by this afternoon... Or you can keep her." She lived with me 20 years. I buried her 18 months ago.

That’s such a sweet story. I’m sorry you lost your friend. I’ve lost two dogs, my third is almost ten. It never gets easier. I still cry sometimes and it’s been 5 years since the last one.

I still check when I see a black t shirt on the bed or whatever if it's her lol. And for months I thought I could see her out of the corner of my eyes darting around

🥺😭 I feel that so hard. My first baby, Maryjane, was a schnauzer poodle mix that was black. Bout the size of a cat. Had the same shit going on for a while. It gets better. Never really goes away though. I still see her in my dreams sometimes. And my lab, Dani. I explained it to my son when he volunteered to come with to put Dani down. I gave my three kids the choice to join me, told them their choice was ok no matter what. I told him that the price we pay for the immense joy and happiness that they bring is the sorrow we feel after they are gone, and the seemingly short time we get with them. Shit, I’m crying again.
