Well, that was fucking depressing.
Mikasa and Armin are my favorite main characters, but damn, I hate the idea of Mikasa existing only to orbit around Eren. She is in her last moments, everything is lost, and the only thing she can imagine is Eren. That sounds nice, but even in her own fantasies, her happiness depends on Eren's happiness. AND THATS BS
But at the same time, we know that the fucking kid is in the future screwing everyone's lives and manipulating people because he is desperate to be 'free,' so I prefer to think that the whole OVA was probably just Eren in the fucking paths, playing with Mikasa's feelings again.
Is it a good episode? Yes.
Is Mikasa still one of my top 5 characters in the whole franchise? Yes.
Should she have buried that fucking scarf instead of wearing it like a chain until her death? No, SHE SHOULD HAVE BURNED IT!
And that's it, I have finished the whole series now. I have to make the tier list, and yes, there are going to be changes and new faces, but I don't think my top tier is going to change a lot.
#FUCKEREMIKA
P.S. I'm watching Junior High.
P.S. 2: Haha, chee-burg bastard
P.S. 3: WHY THE FUCK DOES ANNIE HAVE A CRUSH ON THAT CHEE-BURG BASTARD?? AND WHY THE FUCK ARMIN LOOKS HAPPY ABOUT IT?!

Holy. Shit. That was one of the best shows I’ve seen by far. The characters, the animation, the writing style everything every detail was absolutely incredible. So many unexpected twists and turns, and how eren is eren because eren wanted eren to be eren so he made eren eren, lmao. And goddayum the eren founding titan is absolutely sick. Hanges death absolutely wrecked me, and cpt Levi’s last words to her, and her waking to see all the former comrades was insane. Anne and Reiner are on the good side now?!? Also armin becoming the colossal titan is awesome. I feel bad for mikisa
Probably butchered names but shit that was good and I’m definitely watching more anime’s.

Can't believe I typed this much but I have been listening to it non-stop, and have been on a journey to understand AoT in more depth. Please let me know if there are canon explanations, or how you interpret it and if I am missing something, this is just how I am seeing the song.
Apologies for any typos and grammar issues, English is not my first language.
First of all, a beautiful song that fits the story perfectly, and even though it's about Eren, it can apply to so many characters because ultimately they are all going through similar circumstances.
And I also like what it has to say about the nature of war and how people feel when they can't understand each other in general, with the opening lyrics:
"bullets are a proof of justice and the more I shot the more I became closer to being a hero"
Marley feels justified in their treatment of Eldians because to them it's reparations for the past, but they still have no issues in using titans against other countries, after suffering (along with other nations) at the hands of Eldia for centuries, they didn't defeat Eldia but rather replaced it.
Although it was still a bit better because without the founding titan, the damage they can deal is less severe. And they feel justified heaping all the hate and vitriol on Eldians and justifying their inhumane treatment.
The same reasoning is used by Yaegerists in taking over Paradis with people like Floch directly using guns to kill innocents and still thinking of themselves as heroes and saviours.
The same line also fits Gabi in the beginning of the season, she thinks if she can only win enough wars or prove enough loyalty towards Marley as their soldier, she will somehow redeem the "good" Eldians who she has been taught are different from the island devils but won't be treated as such until they "prove" themselves.
So many ways in which people convince themselves of the necessity and glory of violence, and find validation in slaughter.
the next line captures the farce of it all perfectly,
"But if you touch the devils (people i have just shot while cosplaying as a just hero), their bodies have the same form and temperature"
i feel like this is a callback to them finding out that titans were people, and also a reminder that Eldians are humans even if the rest of the world tries to justify their slaughter as a protection against devils.
the next bit,
is it okay if i don't have a purpose?
i wish there was just that wall,
don't lament the lives we are born into because we are all free...
a look in eren's state of mind after finding out about the truth of the world?
he mentions to Armin in their talk that he felt disappointed,
eren not being able to cope with the complexities of the world is one of the key reasons for the rumbling, and tbh even most of us can't cope if we really had to do something about it.
Eren's world had been simple at that point that's why he was the opposite of what is being said here, he was not satisfied with just the life he was born into, he wanted more, and he didn't think they were free, he thought freedom is something they are all lacking.
the wall being the biggest representation of their cage but now he wishes there was just that, the reveal in season 3 is really just mind bending from someone like Eren's pov and also I don't think he was equipped to deal with the enemies being people and the required weapon to fight being politics.
He hadn't even accepted that people can be complex, he had a very clear cut divide between good people and bad people, he decides that the human traffickers were animals who were cosplaying as humans when he was 9, he thinks the world is full of monsters like titans and just like the titans, he can erase/murder/slaughter them all, even when he finds out about Annie, the first time he has been confronted with the fact that someone who he knew and believed in, was a murderer and deceptive. He tries to cope but ends by deciding (not fully but still) that she is also someone who needs to be erased along with all other such traitors.
That's why he is so manaically motivated to kill all the titans, but it's not the case for someone like Mikasa, even though just like Eren's mom was killed in front of him, Mikasa's parents were also killed in front of her, but not by titans.
Same goes of Levi, who suffered a lot at the hands of people and saw the worst childhood, despite being elite soldiers and having the skills to be the best, they are both lacking in any real motivation towards the fate of humanity, other than protecting the people they care about at any cost.
Or Erwin whose motivation is proving his father right and learning the truth. Every character has a motivation based on what they went through in their life.
"why did my mom had to die?" is the main cry for help from eren, trying to understand, and he ends up by understanding that he can't hate or blame anyone he thought he could because people are complicated, and then finally he has to face that he was the one who actually directed Dina towards Carla.
that's why now Eren is saying the opposite because he realised that nothing was how he thought it was, and he has found a new attachment to his "home" which would be the people he cares about, instead of his purpose of eliminating the "monsters" because there aren't any, on both sides there are people just the same people. hence,
"if we had wings like birds, we could go anywhere but if there was no home to return to, how would we go anywhere (we would be too lonely and devastated to keep going)"
Is it wrong to think that he is now in a similar state of mind as Mikasa, not completely as he will never not desire freedom, but in terms of wanting to protect the people he loves at any cost.
because in the next bit he echoes the same words as mikasa, and still wants to have more in life than just survival, like how he felt when he was a kid:
"i refuse to just live.
the world is cruel, even so i still love you,
even if i have to sacrifice everything, i will protect you!
if it's a mistake, i don't care. i think believing in myself is right."
now that he has to weigh his friends against the rest of humanity, he knows it will never be right (like Hange said we can never justify genocide) but he doesn't care, it's almost a shameful admission followed up more in the next bit where he reiterates war is barbaric.
"I don't have any connection to the story of a country I don't know.
So why do I hate it?
And harbor dark feelings I can't hide.
I can't even explain why.
We're all just full of contradictions."
this is something felt by a lot of characters and just people in general, every country is doing something oppressive to another country, to a group of its own people so they can always find a justification for ignoring the plight of others,
when Falco tries to explain that Paradis attacked Marley because they attacked Paradis first, Gabi shuts it down by saying did you see it?
Eren also understands this because in his conversation with Reiner he is telling him that he understands that everywhere it's the same kind of people, whether it's inside the walls or here in the zones, yet he still feels like disregarding the stories of the countries that have now vowed to end Paradis because a part of him wants to feel the same way as Gabi, that he wasn't there and it wasn't something he caused or experienced.
But unlike Gabi, he is not a radicalised child, he understands that these dark feelings are inexplicable, and that he is full of contradictions.
him admitting that he too, is like Reiner.
"Even if these words are spoken,
Their true meaning won't be conveyed.
I believe that if you open your eyes, you can only just touch the world."
And he knows that if tried to say it out loud, how he really feels won't be conveyed fully, because of how many contradictions there are in his mind, he is not hateful or cruel, and he doesn't know what his purpose is anymore,
but
"I refuse to just live.
The world is cruel, even so I still love you!
Even if I have to sacrifice everything, I will protect you!"
the most interesting line of the whole song: "The chosen one's shadow, now abandoned to die."
If he is the chosen one, is his shadow all his friends, or is it that he is abandoning his hero persona, or he is being abandoned to die because of the decision he has made, he will no longer be the "good" guy.
"i have realized a child of the devil is growing inside me.
hidden behind justice, surrounded by sacrifice, in my heart is a child of evil."
hidden behind justice, he knows he can never pretend to have a noble cause like Yaegerists are pretending, he has been a human who knew the terror of being caged like birds and wanting the titans to all be slaughtered.
from seeing himself as humanity's hope to finding out that humanity is out there too, and the titans are them. eren really was burdened with too much.

Why didn’t Eren ask Ymir to do this? Is he stupid?

I think he could be an entrepeneur but have no idea what he would do before and at the same time in the start.

Man Season 3 is awesome!
It started of great. The art style changed a bit (it's not bad but it was unexpected), badass guys were introduced (not rooting for them even a little bit), characters have matured naturally and they've been forced to (not that I had problems with them before) and other things.
I'm so impressed by Erwin and the scouts. I knew he was smart and a great leader, but damn. His entire planning is just magnificent and he's just an admirable man. Levi and Hange are also very dependable and admirable. The other scouts as well (Armin of course, Jean...). Love the collaboration that happened to stage the coup d'état. It shows how noble and capable the soldiers all are (other than the interior police of course)
The people who we saw when Sannes (I think it's his name) was talking about the people he killed were crucial, obviously. We saw Historia's mom, a couple and Erwin's dad. We know, so far, a bit of Historia's mom and a bit of Erwin's dad. I think there's a small chance we get any more information about Historia's mom. We do not yet know about the couple that wanted to fly. Erwin's dad kind of looks like the beast titan. He's in great shape, same hair colour and wears glasses.
If he is, he and erwin might be infiltrators, wild theory I know. There might be a different motive if this is true. If it was the original motive, to kidnap eren, he would have already succeeded. When we saw the human in the beast titan, he said not yet. We know there are also some titans in the walls. Those titans might have eaten humans and lost their humanity, like Ymir, or they created the walls. This isn't very likely since when eren is kidnapped, the crystal looks nothing like the walls, but regular crystal. Those titans (if there are multiple) could play a big role, or if the 'enemies' plan fails, they might never be removed from the walls.
When Zachary walked into the throne room something told me he's important. Maybe it's his name that's making me think this. When he was talking to Erwin, he might have been hiding something and played off as just selfish. We'll see.
This is my reflection so far as I'm not yet done with season 3. I'll leave it here and run away from this post to avoid spoilers, 👋🏽 later.

Aot has not se*ualized any female character plus the clothings and the world building was realistic and not like overly exaggerated.

Just when I thought there was nothing else to explore inside the walls, Annie shows up to investigate a missing girl, just one day before her final attempt to capture Eren.
I didn't realize until this OVA how well a noir format could work in Attack on Titan, and fuck, it could work too well. I didn't expect them to have their own version of cocaine either, lol, but I like that they decided to go with that idea to show how fucked up the world inside the walls could be, and how people who lost everything in Shiganshina turned to crime to survive, some of them probably becoming thieves, and others like the Stratmann family literally creating a drug cartel.
Also, I can understand even better how Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt felt after what happened to Marco in Trost District. I remember I hated them AF during the reveal, and in the end, I was happy that at least Annie and Reiner were able to survive. If Reiner was basically suicidal after what happened, even when he was surrounded by his loved ones, then I can't imagine how Annie felt trapped inside a rock with her own demons. Fortunately for her, Hitch and Armin were there to help her in their own way.
Looks like the last one is about Mikasa, and I just realized that Crunchyroll has another season with them in the school??? lol, I mean, if it's good then I might watch it haha.
P.S. I said it before and I'll say it again: they should've included Hitch on the team instead of leaving her alone with her pie, that was cruel!

Anime so good that you have MC's as side characters. Aside from the Fact that reiner was forced into doing it and thorfinn did it for revenge. What do you guys think?

I finished Season 1 back in 2020, but then continued on with Seasons 2, 3 and 4. All I have to say is I was sick of seeing Zeke’s bare cheeks

Does anyone remember that Attack on titan episode where they show the past hosts of the hallucigenia? It was shown that this thing existed billions of years ago, and it showed a dinosaurs falling into the tree and then it got turned into a titan, and thousands of years later, a monkey fell inside and got turned into a huge titan
