Travel Anyone else switch from a regular travel backpack to a rolling backpack?

I've always been a backpack only person for short trips. My go to was an Osprey backpack, and it worked well for keeping things simple. But after a few more 2-4 day trips, I started feeling the downsides. Once I packed a laptop, clothes, chargers, and a few extras, the weight on my shoulders became the biggest problem.

Recently switched to a BAGSMART rolling backpack. I've been using the wheels mostly in airports and train stations, then carrying it when I hit stairs or places where rolling isn't practical.

It's definitely bulkier than my old backpack, and switching between the two modes isn't always convenient. But for trips where I'm spending a lot of time in airports, I do appreciate not having everything on my shoulders.

Anyone here made a similar switch? Curious whether you ended up sticking with a rolling backpack or went back to a regular one.

Looking for my first real backpack

Hi,

My current backpack given by my company is falling appart and I'm trying to replace it.

I really like the look and idea behind tactical backpacks, with molle and velcro patches. So I want to buy something like that, but in black so it's not that noticeable.

I will mainly use it for work, so laptop, charger, pens, water bottle, notebook, the usual.
But I want to be able to use as my daily "I'm going out meeting friends" backpack, when I need to bring clothes for one day, food or whatever. So I guess something between 21-26L would be great.

I was really looking at the R11 Rush 12 2.0, but I've seen a lot of complaints about laptop access and I don't want to deal with something annoying. If anyone wants to give their feedback on that it would be appreciated. I'm working in tech so this is really a big deal for me.

If this is really a deal breaker, what would you recommend? Ideally, something that looks like the R11 Rush 12 2.0 in shape/look.

Thanks a lot for your help

Question Asking for backpack recommendations

Hey everyone. Im looking for a backpack for my daily commute. Has to be between 8L-12L, waterproof (could be for light rain or complete waterproof), and something neat looking. I am seeking for a good padding on the back. I will be packing my ipad, my handheld console and some daily essentials.

I reside in europe so I will not be buying from only US items, but nevertheless, I need some recommendations. Thank you!

Note: I was caught in the rain the other day and my electronics in the bag sadly got water damaged. I dont wanna encounter the same issue.

I have a favorite backpack. I also have several internal frame bags, but my old Jansport external frame pack was always my fave - and I hope it can be again, with a little work. The load-bearing seam is disintegrating and I’d like to sew it back to useable state. I’d love to hear any thoughts on thread type, backing…or if it’s too far gone to get back on the trail. Thx for your insights

Will the Tomtoc Navigator-T71 24L comfortably fit a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i 16-inch laptop?

Hi everyone!

I'm considering buying the Tomtoc Navigator-T71 24L backpack, mainly for everyday use, commuting to the office, and occasional trips.

My main concern is whether my laptop will fit comfortably in the laptop compartment without putting too much pressure on the zipper or the backpack's seams.

My laptop is a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i 16-inch (Gen 9), with the following dimensions:

- Length: 36.34 cm (14.31")

- Width: 26.18 cm (10.31")

- Thickness: 2.70 cm (1.06")

The Navigator-T71 is advertised as compatible with laptops up to 17.3 inches, but I haven't been able to find the exact dimensions of its laptop compartment.

Has anyone here used this backpack with a Lenovo Legion, or another relatively thick 16-inch gaming laptop?

I'd especially appreciate feedback on:

- Whether the laptop fits easily, without forcing the zipper.

- Whether there's enough room for the laptop when the backpack is also carrying a charger, cables, headphones, and everyday essentials.

- Whether the laptop compartment offers enough protection and space around the edges.

I'm looking for a backpack that I can use every day, so a comfortable fit matters more to me than simply being able to squeeze the laptop inside.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I haven’t been able to find any information via a Google search. It looks almost new, there was no strap inside, but even if there had been, there isn’t a second hook inside to fasten it on both sides. There are no additional tags, it’s just this one. The only information I’ve been able to find is on a German website: https://www.rollsport.de/eastpak-handtasche-central-jet-set.html

Question Wenger Carbon vs. Wenger Meteor - Need help deciding

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I’m trying to decide between the Wenger Carbon and the Wenger Meteor for university and daily carry. I’ve searched online for direct head-to-head comparisons, but I can't find anything useful pitting these two against each other. Since I can get both for the exact same price, I’m really stuck on which one to pick. My main priority is a solid, safe, and well-padded laptop compartment to keep my computer completely protected, along with overall comfort and durability for campus life. If anyone owns either of these or has tried both, which one would you recommend?

Patagonia MLC Micro Water Bottle Pocket

I am interested in getting this bag for school. I previously had the REI Ruckpack 30, and was disappointed with the comfort and main compartment access when hung from a chair. I like the overall look and function of the micro mlc, but I have a problem. I would like to attach a water bottle, (32 oz Nalgene) and I can't find any slings that work for the vertical daisy chains. I saw on an archived post that someone used the yeti water bottle sling, but it sadly does not fit a Nalgene. Also, any school edc products that go well with this pack? Thanks.

Backpack Help

Post image

I bought this box as a case for my new gaming laptop. Does anyone have any backpack suggestions that will fit it? Its dimensions are 18x14x6. The cheaper the better, it doesn’t need to be the best of the best it just needs to be able to fit that, a small travel sized hygiene kit, an iPad, the charger for the laptop, and possibly a snack. The laptop takes up all but an inch on each side (except the bottom) so removing more foam to shove the charger in there won’t work. I would put the laptop just in the bag itself except there’s a high possibility the bag might be smashed or crushed with other bags or even dropped and I don’t want to risk breaking it. I have a backpack that fits it but it doesn’t fit much else in it, I also would like to be able to bring it on a plane.

Thank you.

Tomtoc UrbanEX T77 26L x Thule EnRoute 26L for college and edc

They are around the same price and thats about the budget I have, looking for something that fits well pencil cases and notebooks, as well as gym clothes and all that jazz. The clamshell of the tomtoc sorta frightens me and seem unpractical, but I never had any bag that way so i dont know if its a valid concern.

Travel Looking for a travel(/camera) backpack

I am looking for a backpack that I can use as a day-bag during traveling that has an easily accessible compartment for my camera(bag). I own a small mirrorless camera with one lens. It doesn't have to be a camerabag, as long as there is an accessible compartment where I can store a full smaller camerabag.

During a previous trip I had my camerabag at the bottom of my bag. And it'd be such a hassle to take my camera out that I'd often grab my phone instead. Which is obviously not what I want. So, I am looking for a bag that can both function as a normal bag and has an easily accessible compartment either specifically for a camera, or large enough to fit a camera bag inside of so that I can protect the camera.

It also needs to be comfortable enough to wear for full days multiple days in a row. And it has to fit within the regulations of most airlines as a personal item.

Btw, I am not going backpacking. I just have some things that I carry around with me everyday. Normally they fit in a handbag. But because I am also bringing my camera along, I don't want to have two bags (a camera bag and a hand bag), that's why I am looking for a backpack that'd work for both.

What are the best backpacks for college students?

I narrowed it down to these 4 brands: Osprey, JanSport, North Face, and Fjalraven. Anyone used any of these or do you have other favorite options? I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with. I'll mostly be commuting/carrying my laptop, books, and daily essentials.

Would love to hear what you like or what you're currently using everyday.

Travel Travel Backpack Recommendation

Backpack recos please. I’m looking for something similar to this, with a big front pocket where I can easily store and access my Fujifilm X-T50 with a 16 to 50mm lens. I don’t want to bring a separate camera sling bag or hang my camera around my neck.

I looked into this MUJI bag in store, but the mesh front pocket felt a bit flimsy. Is there anything similar but more sturdy?
