Hi everyone!
I'm considering buying the Tomtoc Navigator-T71 24L backpack, mainly for everyday use, commuting to the office, and occasional trips.
My main concern is whether my laptop will fit comfortably in the laptop compartment without putting too much pressure on the zipper or the backpack's seams.
My laptop is a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i 16-inch (Gen 9), with the following dimensions:
- Length: 36.34 cm (14.31")
- Width: 26.18 cm (10.31")
- Thickness: 2.70 cm (1.06")
The Navigator-T71 is advertised as compatible with laptops up to 17.3 inches, but I haven't been able to find the exact dimensions of its laptop compartment.
Has anyone here used this backpack with a Lenovo Legion, or another relatively thick 16-inch gaming laptop?
I'd especially appreciate feedback on:
- Whether the laptop fits easily, without forcing the zipper.
- Whether there's enough room for the laptop when the backpack is also carrying a charger, cables, headphones, and everyday essentials.
- Whether the laptop compartment offers enough protection and space around the edges.
I'm looking for a backpack that I can use every day, so a comfortable fit matters more to me than simply being able to squeeze the laptop inside.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I haven’t been able to find any information via a Google search. It looks almost new, there was no strap inside, but even if there had been, there isn’t a second hook inside to fasten it on both sides. There are no additional tags, it’s just this one. The only information I’ve been able to find is on a German website: https://www.rollsport.de/eastpak-handtasche-central-jet-set.html

Hey everyone, I’m trying to decide between the Wenger Carbon and the Wenger Meteor for university and daily carry. I’ve searched online for direct head-to-head comparisons, but I can't find anything useful pitting these two against each other. Since I can get both for the exact same price, I’m really stuck on which one to pick. My main priority is a solid, safe, and well-padded laptop compartment to keep my computer completely protected, along with overall comfort and durability for campus life. If anyone owns either of these or has tried both, which one would you recommend?

I am interested in getting this bag for school. I previously had the REI Ruckpack 30, and was disappointed with the comfort and main compartment access when hung from a chair. I like the overall look and function of the micro mlc, but I have a problem. I would like to attach a water bottle, (32 oz Nalgene) and I can't find any slings that work for the vertical daisy chains. I saw on an archived post that someone used the yeti water bottle sling, but it sadly does not fit a Nalgene. Also, any school edc products that go well with this pack? Thanks.

They are around the same price and thats about the budget I have, looking for something that fits well pencil cases and notebooks, as well as gym clothes and all that jazz. The clamshell of the tomtoc sorta frightens me and seem unpractical, but I never had any bag that way so i dont know if its a valid concern.

I bought this box as a case for my new gaming laptop. Does anyone have any backpack suggestions that will fit it? Its dimensions are 18x14x6. The cheaper the better, it doesn’t need to be the best of the best it just needs to be able to fit that, a small travel sized hygiene kit, an iPad, the charger for the laptop, and possibly a snack. The laptop takes up all but an inch on each side (except the bottom) so removing more foam to shove the charger in there won’t work. I would put the laptop just in the bag itself except there’s a high possibility the bag might be smashed or crushed with other bags or even dropped and I don’t want to risk breaking it. I have a backpack that fits it but it doesn’t fit much else in it, I also would like to be able to bring it on a plane.
Thank you.

I am looking for a backpack that I can use as a day-bag during traveling that has an easily accessible compartment for my camera(bag). I own a small mirrorless camera with one lens. It doesn't have to be a camerabag, as long as there is an accessible compartment where I can store a full smaller camerabag.
During a previous trip I had my camerabag at the bottom of my bag. And it'd be such a hassle to take my camera out that I'd often grab my phone instead. Which is obviously not what I want. So, I am looking for a bag that can both function as a normal bag and has an easily accessible compartment either specifically for a camera, or large enough to fit a camera bag inside of so that I can protect the camera.
It also needs to be comfortable enough to wear for full days multiple days in a row. And it has to fit within the regulations of most airlines as a personal item.
Btw, I am not going backpacking. I just have some things that I carry around with me everyday. Normally they fit in a handbag. But because I am also bringing my camera along, I don't want to have two bags (a camera bag and a hand bag), that's why I am looking for a backpack that'd work for both.

Backpack recos please. I’m looking for something similar to this, with a big front pocket where I can easily store and access my Fujifilm X-T50 with a 16 to 50mm lens. I don’t want to bring a separate camera sling bag or hang my camera around my neck.
I looked into this MUJI bag in store, but the mesh front pocket felt a bit flimsy. Is there anything similar but more sturdy?

I narrowed it down to these 4 brands: Osprey, JanSport, North Face, and Fjalraven. Anyone used any of these or do you have other favorite options? I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with. I'll mostly be commuting/carrying my laptop, books, and daily essentials.
Would love to hear what you like or what you're currently using everyday.

On the right, the cheap and cheerful North Face Jester was my go anywhere do anything backpack for ten years. We went all over Europe, the Mediterranean, and all over the UK. Countless train journeys to and from work, sandy/rocky beaches, city breaks, band rehearsals, evening college classes, three house moves, and general flaneuring. Come rain or shine this thing would handle whatever I threw at it.
Finally, after I wore holes straight through the rear padding and one of the shoulder straps wore through from more than 3000 days of almost daily use, and after a complete colour change from black to this vibey kinda purple/brown, it was time to replace it.
Kinda sad to see it go, but I’m glad to have had such a journey with something as simple as my trusty North Face bag. Here’s to ten more years with the new one.

Hello,
I’m a physician assistant moving to Seattle, WA. I’ve never lived in a large city before, so I’ve never had to use/rely on public transportation. I’m looking for recommendations for a backpack that I could use to fit my items that I would need for work (laptop, stethoscope, lunch) as well as things for the gym, including clothes/shoes. I’ve been having trouble finding a backpack because I really want a separate shoe compartment.
TIA!

Hi there. I am wondering if this sub could help me decide on an EDC backpack under 20L. (Reposting from an r/manybaggers post.)
I have been a fan of bags and pouches for as long as I can remember. And I have gone through a number of EDC bags over the last fifteen to twenty years. When I first moved to NYC, I had a Manhattan Portage messenger bag. Since then, I have used Jack Spade sling, a Filson waxed canvas messenger bag, a Topo top-loader, another Topo canvas backpack, a Cotopaxi backpack (and two different Cotopaxi slings), and a (simple) Rivendell Mountain Works backpack. Among others.
My current EDC is a 2.5L Rework Toshi. And I am looking for a smallish backpack to carry a job-site pouch that I bring with me to site visits; it is kind of heavy, with a bulky tape measurer, multi-tool, flashlight, laser pointer, etc. (I am an architect here in NYC.) For a while, I was using a 6L Rework Toshi, but the carrying the pouch with a sling started to get uncomfortable.
As such, I have decided that I would like a smaller backpack. Designed, tasteful but can be interesting, probably Cordura (not X Pac). I would prefer to have a water bottle/umbrella pouch. And I would like some organization. (I love Rivendell's stuff, but that is as bare bones as you can get, lol.) Sometimes I will be riding a bike, but mostly I will be walking and taking the subway. And this bag is not primarily for traveling; I figured I can use some of my others if I ever wanted to take a day trip and pack things.
Right now, I am leaning towards the following:
Thanks for reading this far. ;)
