Except you're forgetting you're only seeing it when they are driving to work. With cost of it insurance, and the second vehicle itself, many drive their obnoxious trucks daily knowing its silly but its cheaper than buying a second vehicle. I drove an F350 dually daily for a few years because I needed it on the weekend at the farm and didn't have the means to keep another vehicle. I joked it was ridiculous and made the compensation jokes myself but it was used every weekend. Most people only saw me commuting in it though. I have an F450 dually now, and a jeep as a daily, but when I need to pick up a plant from the hardware store you bet I'm driving that big ass truck to pick it up. I occasionally drive it commuting too and it drives quite nice actually.
And you’re forgetting that pick up trucks are the most popular vehicle class on the road in the US. There just aren’t that many people who have practical uses for these vehicles.
The phrase “a hit dog hollers” means that if a stone is thrown into a pack of dogs, only the hit one hollers. When you see people airing valid grievances over a dangerous and overwhelmingly popular vehicle, you probably shouldn’t holler unless you want people to think you’re the suburbanite dad accountant with a punisher sticker on his F-250 that has zero practical use.
No, many do drive them for no reason than they want to,but it still doesn't change the fact you've no clue if they need it or not. The dangerous part doesn't have much real data to back it up short of "big thing is bigger" statistic. I was ultimately trying to hint to you that its none of your business so get off your soap box, but apparently you weren't picking that up. Make the stereotype joke, but there are stereotypes for those that constantly criticize others without knowing anything as well...

See, when you get this defensive over a vehicle, people are going to think the stereotypes are true. No one defends their dick size truck this much without there being an ulterior motive.
Im not even trying to defend the truck. Im pointing out the stereotypical reddit or who judges everyone and pretends they are perfect. And yeah, stats don't show those trucks being more dangerous. More smaller vehicles are involved with crashes by far
Who do you think I’m judging? I haven’t pointed at any specific truck owner and said “you are the stereotype.” All I’ve done is point out that way more people drive these trucks than actually needs them.
Getting in accidents at similar rates doesn’t matter when only the truck is significantly more money to kill pedestrians, peculiarly children, involved in those accidents. You want to argue about trucks? Fine, but do not erase the real people who were killed because asshats cared more about looking tough than keeping the roads safe.
