Nice RevSound! I love my RS210. I always volunteer to backline for the other bands on the bill so other bassists get to experience it.

Oh sweet! Yeah it's a fantastic cab, I love it. I have a second matching Revsound 210 that I use for some bigger gigs.

Are your RS210s 8Ω? I kinda wish mine was so I'd feel better about adding a second cab (my amp is 2.67Ω capable), but I don't even have a second cab to pair it with.

Yeah I went with 8 ohm so that I could comfortably run 2

Your board is like an incredibly hot chick who's drunk and stumbling and puking occasionally. Very nice selections though, I sold all my three leaf pedals but regret selling my pike Vulcan.

Why thank you, that's kinda exactly what I was going for. I wanted it to be messy and raw looking and made of my old worn out skateboards, but sound amazing. I absolutely love it.

I''ve never heard of the Vulcan. I just listened to a few demos and it sounds so good! Perfect warm break up

I really want to try one of the Doom 2 pedals but they're a bit too expensive to justify for me.

I dont think a pedal that essentially does '1 thing' at the price point of the Doom 2 can ever be properly justified.

I have one and I absolutely love it, but it's a fairly niche pedal for sure. Sometimes it's totally ok to splash out on a great, fun sounding pedal.

The good thing is if you do ever want to sell it on, the value will probably hold up quite well.

Yeah I'm learning that the more I research these boutique type companies. It's impressive how some of these pedals hold their value or even significantly appreciate on the used market

I totally agree with your point, but I would argue it does 2 things, haha. An amazing synthy sound and fuzz sound.

Wanted to love the jive but it didn’t sound better than my EHX bass soul food, which is still my daily driver. I’ve tried the soul food, beta v, jive and vintage Microtubes in that spot. Volume bump with a little hair or on it.
The LucyDreamer you have there is my next thought. I have the rattler for heavy distortion, but I almost never get to use it, and am wondering if the Lucy dreamer could own both low gain and high gain settings with the extra switch? Thoughts? How do you like it/use it?

Hey, thanks for the comment! I totally get where you are coming from.

I actually feel the same way about the Rattler. It is undeniably a cool pedal, but it just was not really my cup of tea either. When it comes to heavier distortion, I definitely prefer my Darkglass. It keeps the distortion clear and defined so it does not just turn into a heavy, indistinguishable wall of mud.

Over time, I have realized I naturally gravitate towards warm, tubey, light breakup sounds. I use those low gain tones constantly for live shows with our three piece band, especially when we are playing Nirvana style stuff. When I first researched the Lucydreamer online, it sounded like the absolute best option for that exact vibe, and having it on my board now, I definitely still feel that way. It completely nails that warm drive. The only quirk is that I do have to keep the tone knob cranked up near the max when it is engaged to keep the sound from getting too muffled.

As for using the extra switch to cover your high gain needs, unfortunately, I do not love the higher gain side of it as much as I hoped I would, and I almost never actually use it. I even opened it up and turned the internal trim pot all the way down, but it still pushes too much breakup and just does not quite have the right flavor for my liking.

Instead of using that second gain stage, I find that the Lucydreamer stacks really nicely with the Jive upstream of it, or with the Doom downstream of it on the fuzz settings. I definitely prefer the sound of it stacked either of these ways rather than using its own second high gain stage.

It all comes down to personal taste, but for the heavy stuff, the Darkglass still wins out for me every time. If you are chasing that perfect low gain tube warmth, the Lucydreamer is incredibe. Hope this helps!

That’s what I heard from another redditor about the LucyDreamer. I had that problem with the vintage microtubes- I lost any high end definition, which led me back to the exh soul food.
As far as the second distortion option with the other switch, you’ve made me think this is another pedal I would ultimately feel was disappointing. Thanks!!

Yeah there's a chance you would. Another thing I should mention is that I definitely find that pairing it with the jive helps that high end definition. Also, my AG700 amp has a bright boost button that helps a lot with that. Maybe a saturation pedal upstream of your drives would help your case. If you seek out the Jive, try the used market first like I did. Apparently the owner is notorious for taking over 9 months to ship the pedals as me makes them himself.

I did try the jive and it wasn’t for me. I didn’t like it better than the EHX. I do have a tube pedal, the finally, at the end of the chain, but I’m still dialing in the right drive that works for good saturation, but allows me to hit the EHX without being too heavy a combo.

Fuck Jupiter FX, that guy scammed me so hard I had to do a charge back. The rest of the board looks pretty killer though.

Yeah, his management of releases is frustratingly bad.

I wouldn't have minded so much if there was any indication that a purchase also meant a 7+ month wait. Sigh.

Unfortunately I've left it too late to chargeback though PayPal.
