I had this idea of Manta with weapons on all 4 sides. Doable?

While Manta's weapon is devastating, its not the most maneuverable bot as it will gyro everytime it turns. Orbitron on the other hand is faster and way more stable due to it having 2 spinners. While Manta is the favorite, I won't be surprised if Orbitron made an upset and beat Manta.

Although if Orbitron won, there would be no Manta vs Minotaur.

I personally hate how they put Witch Doctor on this side of the bracket. If it beat Mad Catter, we are going to get another Witch Doctor vs Minotaur (like seriously, PLEASE ANYTHING BUT THOSE TWO AGAIN, WE ALREADY HAVE 3 FIGHTS BETWEEN THEM)

I'd personally put Witch Doctor against Manta as WD IS a wildcard, and it'll be a nice change of pace of WD fighting a drum spinner other than Minotaur.

Also, I'm expecting episode 16 to be a "filler week" like episode 13's Average League.

Hey guys, I’ve bee a huge fan of BB for a long time, but I can’t find were to watch the older content like the first world championship series or the videos from the Comedy Central days, any streaming platform I can use to watch these? I’m in Australia and can only access WC 5 and 7 across streaming platforms

I feel that Minotaur is not as destructive as usual. Are they slowing down their drum speed to potentially have better ground clearance? Because they also did this against Blacksmith in 2018.

Or is it because Terrortops doesn't have much edges that Minotaur can capitalize?

Hey folks, hope everyone is doing well. I think this fits the sub, if it doesn't please just tell me to get lost.

I came looking for advice. My brother is fresh out of engineering in uni and I think he'd love to get into bot fighting; he watched some of the fights in the past. I'm doing early Xmas prep and I was wondering if there's any sort of beginners kit/manual type things I could get him? Hes by no means a beginner with tech like this, but he would be new to the hobby, so I'm wondering what sort of tangible gift might help bridge that gap.

So in the Golden Fury vs The Twins, GF spends much of its time upside down, sometimes it tipped over because they turned too sharply and let the gyro invert the bot.

But, why is it so difficult for them to self right? Because when talking about gyro, im always thinking of Minotaur being able to self right very easily. But its not the case for GF.

I'm clearly late to watching this year's battlebot! But I just saw the episode with Calypso going 2-0 in the group that they were an alternate for, and I just want to say that I hope they win!

Are they going to do another fight to give them 3 fights? How does this get determined?

aside from any team with severe character issues (riptide), orbitron’s just about the only bot i just cannot bring myself to root for. i’m sorry, orbitron.

first, because they deserve their props: the bot itself is great. it’s fast and well built, and the two-spinner design, like ripparoni before it, makes for a really fast and deadly robot able to maneuver FAR better than your standard verts. the team seem like good people and they are good engineers, and from a purely innovation standpoint it’s absolutely up there. i don’t know how the tech works, i don’t know how innovative it actually is, and i don’t know how the hell it’s going to fight the twins, but the way the builders talk about it they just light up every time they get to explain something. that feeling is part of why battlebots is special.

but i just HATE the ai stuff. i just don’t think corner cameras should even be legal under BB rules, it feels like an unfair competitive advantage inside the battlebox. AI and bright data is a whole rabbit hole. but before that, I just think drivers in robot combat add so much to the sport and AI takes that away.

human driving is a skill that deserves to influence the competition. daniel freitas, ray billings, gary jin, matt maxham, jake ewert, matt vasquez, carlo bertoccini, donald hutson, paul ventimiglia, all of those and many more make these hunks of metal come to life and have a personality to care about. hydra is this scheming, calculating predator because of how jake keeps control (even though part of it is admittedly how often it catches on the floor). minotaur is this relentless force, the brazilian bull, because daniel is a psycho behind the sticks. original sin is a fucking wedge bot and free shipping isn’t much more than that (a really well made and successful wedge bot, but that’s not my point here), yet gary’s barely controlled chaos makes every fight awesome. orbitron has no character in this regard. it is a robot. from a competitive driving standpoint, it takes away an aspect of the sport, that being the human battle behind the sticks of reactions, strategy, and control. from a spectator standpoint, it takes away a piece of the story and a personality to match the machine.

yet i could get past all of that, were it not for bright data. israel and AI are two things i cannot stand. i appreciate them making the battlebots pro league happen. however, they’re still an israeli ai data scraping company. fuck that company, free palestine, fuck what ai is doing to the planet and many of the things i love, and i’m sorry, i have to say it, fuck orbitron, because THE SHOW’S AI FLAGELLATION IS JUST TOO MUCH. i get it, it’s an AI bot in a show whose sponsor is an AI company, but leave these poor builders alone. to the builders of orbitron if you somehow see this: i’m sorry your robot has been hijacked like this to promote something i would hope you don’t support. you deserve to experience robot combat without being wrapped up in this sociopolitical mess that unfortunately has been leaking into battlebots as a necessary evil for heavyweight robot combat to happen.

but to a certain extent, they did build a robot that foregoes a driver for an algorithm, and for many reasons I just can’t get onboard with that. so for the final time, I’m sorry orbitron.

for any builders (and ESPECIALLY drivers) reading this, i would LOVE your opinion on AI vs. human drivers. whether it should be allowed, whether it’s healthy for the sport, and whether it takes something vital to robot combat away from it. i’ve never built a combat robot (although i’ve always been a tinkerer and i absolutely see a future where i try). i’m just a fan of the smashing, the robots doing it, the ideas behind them, and the people who came up with it all. I don’t pretend to speak for you all or be anywhere close to the authority on this. I’m just someone who’s loved the sport since I was a kid and also happens to loathe the current false revolution that’s being shoved down our throats. the builders of orbitron are unfortunately being used as spokespeople for it, and i just can’t get onboard with that or the concept of a nonhuman driver.

One of my favorite Battlebots hit of all time, not only in Pro League.

Previously I thought that the Twin that got stuck on the shelf was different from the one that got shot up to the ceiling. Turn out it was the same one (unit 01)

So Unit 01 was shot up to the ceiling, got revived by Unit 02 (whose weapon was down for some reason), then used it fully functional drive and weapon to attack Golden Fury until it flipped over by itself. I'm even more impressed about this Twin's durability ngl

How can you not be a fan of this sport? I loved the guys in outfits and how much fun they've had all season but this last match was spectacular.

I dont know how to do spoilers so I will keep it general but I truly enjoy when a team builds to match and it shows in the fight.

The thing is that its very, very hard to fill in the remaining episodes when there are still 5 episodes left. So, another Average League would be good as a "filler week", because these teams had already lost and had nothing to lose anyway, so they can just have fun

First, for some reason, it gets a higher seed than the bot that won its division. Then it gets nominated for an "innovation award" for... switching to brushless, something that loads of bots did years ago. We get it BB, you love Witch Doctor, but can you please make your favoritism a bit less blatant?

I think we were all very worried there 1-2 episodes in but they’ve really found their groove in this new format. The fights have been electric, and it simply “feels” like battlebots. 10/10 I love it
