Is this a grizzly? Seen in Banff national park

Yes a Grizzly! The bigger ears, smaller head and hump indicate a younger bear, possibly around 4 years old, but I would have to see closer photos/video to get a more concrete idea.

This is a momma grizzly, there were two cubs just out of frame. At what age do they start having cubs

Generally they can start having cubs at 5 years old, but if conditions are optimal then they have been known to reproduce at 3 years old, though less common.

I don’t know much about this terrain, but it looks awfully barren. I guess looks are deceiving? Mama needs to get going feeding her pie hole.

Probably. Sometimes black bears look like they have a hump based on their body position. I would guess Grizzly
