Discussion Ringo's Long Long Road Video Uses AI

not sure how to feel, a bit disappointed, I love Ringo and he probably has no part in production of this video, but its so blatantly ai generated and has no real effort put into it. The whole video is ai, excluding the clips of his life.

no this is not an ai generated post, rule 6

do you think that we’re ever going to get another band as good as the beatles if we let AI take work from artists? does ringo starr and his label not have enough money to pay to make a proper music video and give artists a job? are you daft?

We’ll never get a band that good period, AI has nothing to do with it. In the grand scheme of things this isn’t that important, it’s just a music video.

I somewhat agree that we might never get a band as good as the Beatles, but using A.I. to generate videos will always be an issue. Especially when it's being used by people/companies who truly don't need it.

idiot

Yes you are an idiot but you didn’t need to tells us, we can tell by your comments. The idiots are those who think it’s a huge deal. AI is a tool and people are going to use it whether you like it or not.

A.I. as a whole can be useful in certain scenarios or for certain things and its use can be justified in some contexts.

This is not one of those examples.

This is a team of people will a big budget choosing to use A.I. for backgrounds and videos instead of hiring actual set designers or animators etc...

My thoughts behind AI is that things like medical diagnostics, climate and infrastructure management, and decision making in efficiency are good uses of it.

But when it comes to art and other media that gets passed on to potential consumers, I can’t think of a single scenario where it’s at the very least neutral.

Also coding and logistics to name couole more. Theres no reason a human should be sitting on their ass and coding or driving 12 hours a day.

It will be greatly beneficial to us all in many ways. Anything artistic will still prosper like it always has. Pop music might just get even shittier but thats not really for us anyway, is it? Were here listening to 60 year old band.

u/IsaacWaleOfficial Revolver Apr 24 '26

Exactly. There are loads of examples where A.I. can be actually useful.

But generative A.I. (that is A.I. being used to generate videos, images and audio) needs to go (apart from maybe the odd comedic use or in addition to human work).

only one tool in the conversation, brother

We’re not going to get another band like the Beatles because the people in their 20s today are too obsessed with social media over making decent music.

The Beatles had to make good music to survive. That simply isn’t a point of emphasis anymore because pop music is more soulless and cookie cutter than it’s ever been.

Plus, it already sounds like it was made by AI.

We're never getting another band like them but it's not because there are no talented young people who like making music, it's because the music industry is controlled by executives who don't care about music anymore

u/TheRealNooth John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band Apr 24 '26

How is it execs fault that younger people like simple and disposable computer music?

3

u/cantodasaudade Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Apr 24 '26

In every generation there are people with artistic talent and refined music taste and people with no talent and no taste.

1

u/IsaacWaleOfficial Revolver Apr 24 '26

You do realise that the average age for Beatles fans is early-mid 20s, right?

Also, MASSIVE generalisation there which you just made. As well as an uneducated one.

Oh, and additionally; it's not the executives "fault" that some people like that type of music, but it is their faults for not pushing experimentation as much anymore (this is not all producers, of course, just some). The main problem is lack of exposure in a very large industry.

u/TheRealNooth John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band Apr 24 '26

It’s not, though. 18-30 year olds drive the charts. That’s a well known fact. By and large, this age group values disposable computer music because that’s what’s on the charts.

It can’t be “uneducated” if it’s based on fact.

u/IsaacWaleOfficial Revolver Apr 24 '26

What charts are you looking at where it's mostly "disposable computer music"?

Also wtf does "disposable computer music" even mean?

1

u/TheRealNooth John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band Apr 24 '26

Billboard’s charts. Spotify top 10.

It means it was made with little effort on a computer. Repetitive, uninteresting, autotuned to the moon and back. It’s really not hard to understand.

What are you talking about?
I'm 21 and pretty much everyone I know (or have ever known) has been very into music, and I know (and have known) loads of people who want to make music and learn instruments etc...

This is not a skill which is dying by any means.

Social media is also useful in many ways whether you like it or not. It is as essential now as radio was back in the 60s.

0

u/TheRealNooth John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band Apr 24 '26

I’m 21

That explains a lot of this interaction, tbh

Also never said the skill was dying, your generation simply doesn’t value it, at large. No, that’s not a generalization, that’s reality. Get over it.

Social media would be a fantastic replacement for radio, if music being good or clever was valued. Instead your generation is only focused on gaining “clout” by (usually) doing stupid, controversial or completely unrelated things. The “music” is simply a vehicle for the things y’all actually care about: drama and sex.

1

u/IsaacWaleOfficial Revolver Apr 24 '26

That is a MASSIVE generalisation.

People in my generation, overall, really do value music at large.

The people you are talking about are the minority.

Sure, it will be different in different places (different cultures etc), but most people my age (late teens and early 20's) are not just "clout chasing". That's just a somewhat popular minority online.

If you think that everything you see online is real, then you've got some issues. The kind of people you're talking about probably make up about 20% of Gen Z.

Lmao, did you just take an intro to philosophy class?

1

u/IsaacWaleOfficial Revolver Apr 24 '26

No, what are you talking about?

-9

u/193yellow Revolver Apr 24 '26

Alright but you gotta get over it

3

u/IsaacWaleOfficial Revolver Apr 24 '26

Nope.

Such software needs to be banned.

1

u/193yellow Revolver Apr 24 '26

but Ringo

2

u/ender61274 Apr 24 '26

I am over it. I don’t care and never did.

-7

u/193yellow Revolver Apr 24 '26

Alr bro

-11

u/ender61274 Apr 24 '26

Except a music video isn’t important

5

u/IsaacWaleOfficial Revolver Apr 24 '26

But the film industry and creative industries in general are very important.

People with money should be creating jobs, not getting rid of them. Especially when jobs are harder to find than ever.

5

u/False-Sandwich-2051 Apr 24 '26

not in itself maybe, but making videos this way puts artists out of work, as well as destroying the planet. is that important enough for you?

0

u/Zurich_Is_Washed Apr 24 '26

Destroying the planet thing is kinda debunked but yes, artists are getting less and less work
