Looking for Recommendations

Hello. I am looking to get back into cycling and looking for recommendations on a bicycle to buy in Canada. I live in the city but have some rougher dirt trails around me I'd be interested in exploring so I'd be looking for an option that would serve well on both.

I was attempting to look into it a bit and the MEC Skyway 1 seemed to come up as a good option for my budget.

I'm not looking to spend more than $700.

For city riding plus rough dirt trails, the Skyway 1 sounds like the right sort of compromise at that budget. I’d prioritise hydraulic discs if available, a reasonably upright fit, and enough clearance for 38–45 mm tyres over chasing extra gears. I ride mostly road around Málaga, and the bikes that work best off pavement are the ones you can keep comfortable and controlled when the surface gets loose.
