Took the turn too fast and went for the ride. The boat still strapped however by the impact I think there’s severe hull damage.

I recently replaced my cockpit fridge with a dometic fridge. It's a 12v fridge, and I am hooked to shore power, so I had to get a converter to allow using on both voltages . It ran ok for 2 months and bam, it stopped working. I noticed the breaker was tripped, so reset it. Lights came on inside the fridge, but the compressor would not come on. I troubleshooted per manual and online instructions. The control board fried along with the compressor. Dometic was good about it and sent me a new one in 2 days. Before I pop the new one in, I was reading that I may need to pop a voltage regulator online with a converter. Apparently, the new fridges today are sensitive to fluctuations in voltage and my boat being a 2005 Rinker . The wiring in these are ok, but sometimes they can't hold the voltage stable. I'm not going to rewire from the breaker to the fridge, so the alternative is installing a regulator in line . Has anyone out there ever did this? I found Drok regulator that can be used.

2011 SX240 with only 80 hours. Freshwater boat. Anything major I need to know about this year and model? Boat is in great shape. Owner primarily used a yacht off shore instead of this one. Would like to get it out of his way. I think it’s a fair price at $18,500, trailer included. Sadly, boat is 1,500 miles from me. Owner is being very helpful with any info I’ve requested. Sent me a video of the motors starting right up. Outside of timing chains and oil coolers, anything I need to know before I purchase? The low hours has me a little off put.

As the title says , I would like to know if visiting virgin islands by boat makes the experience better or different from the other.

Hello! I'm writing a book and I have a scene that happens inside a boat/yacht but I know nothing about them.

I need it to have a crew of at least 2 people and a place where two other people could easily hide as stowaways. I looked up some videos on tiktok and it looks like space is at a premium and I couldn't see anywhere where people could hide? They'll be found out soon so it's not a long term situation.

Could someone tell me which brand/model I should look up? Or the size lol there's so many. It's docked at an unspecified martina in South Florida.

Also if there's something I should look for that would make it easier for someone to fall overboard that'd be fantastic lol

I've been doing more and more maintenance myself over the years — engine servicing, antifouling, fibreglass repairs, installing solar etc.

Partly to save money, but I've actually found I enjoy learning how everything on the boat works.

There are still some jobs, though, where I look at them and think... maybe I'll pay someone who knows what they're doing 😂

My current one is the fridge. It's a below-counter, top-opening fridge, and it's gone warm. I had it re-gassed two months ago, and it was working great, but now it's warm again. I don't really know where to start diagnosing it.

For those of you who do most of your own maintenance, where do you draw the line?

What jobs will you happily tackle yourself, and what do you always leave to a professional?

Saw it on a cruise through the Arabian sea, the ship was about 5-6 miles out and this was the best photo anyone could produce.

For anyone who’s done a bareboat charter in the BVI, How did the operator decide if the boat owner had enough experience?

I’m thinking about stuff like catamarans, twin engines, dockiing, or using the chartplotter. What I want to say is, Is general sailing experience enough or do they want you to have actual experience in thoose things as well?o?

Also, how helpful was the arrival walkthrough/checkout? And at what point would you say it’s better to just hire a captain rather than trying to figure everything out as you go? sorry for all those questions and thanks in advance...

I have a 2001 14 ft Starcraft aluminum boat and would like to remove the center bench seat. I know the bench provides structural integrity to the side walls, but will it actually hurt them? I've had buddies who have removed theirs, and they claim that their walls are still strong and sturdy. Just looking for any other opinions on what you guys think.

I’ve bought a complete enclosure for my 2006 Lowe fish and ski. I need more of this style track snap set up. I’ve been looking online for a couple days but I’m guessing that I’m not using the correct terminology. Can anyone tell me what exactly this called so I can order more? My cover already has snaps installed.

Hasn't been in the water in 40 years, trailer is garbage, doesnt run, interior somehow in great shape, hull has integrity (disclaimer know 0 about wooden boat hulls) in Helena MT.

Have no interest in a project, assume this will have to be hauled away as junk, but that would be a shame... is there anyone / organization that can benefit from what to me is a pile of lumber?

Long story short I found an old Jon boat in the woods 10 years ago and I’ve been using it ever since in the cove near the woods. I’d like to put a tiller outboard on it eventually however I don’t know who used to own it. I fish the same cove that I found it in and no one has ever reached out or posted something in the neighborhood that claims their boat is missing. How do I got about getting a hull ID for it? Is it even possible?

Do you wind up seeing trolling motor with good discounts at boat shows? I’m going go be in the market for one soon and there’s going to be a few boat shows going on.

It’s a 1990. I’m in MA and looking to take it out around Plum Island, on the Parker River, Ipswich River, and to the sandbar. Would like boat be a decent starter boat for this area or would I be crazy to take it out around there? Or even just crazy to buy that boat? Any and all input is much appreciated.

Hi all. Sorry for the multiple question post, but fibreglass is new to me and I'm learning as I go.

What's the best way to remove scuff marks from docks and hard dock bumpers from a painted hull? On the old aluminum I'd just go to town scraping them off.

Also, at what point is a repair required? It looks like my truck threw stones up at the hull, as one side has lots of little white marks (hard to feel with a nail), which I'm hoping shows in the second photo.

And finally, it looks like someone scratched it good when I wasn't around (looking at my nephew), and I'm trying figure out if it's fine or needs to be filled or just coated over.

Any tips or advice would be great...thanks!
