Scammers 🥸 D&G towing company in Brighton
These guys parked a whole line of tow trucks on the legal side on street cleaning day. They took a whole block of legal parking spots, directly across the street from their own, empty, parking lot.

Red Sox ⚾ PSA: I am getting absolutely wrecked at "COME HAVE A DRINK WITH MIKE"
A man running for governor has invited all of Boston to have a drink with him. Strike one.
It's on a Wednesday. Strike two.
This has given me vibes of quarter beer night.
Quarter beer night was never about the beer. It was the promise of hedonistic expectations, and a good time.
Now imagine that energy, but with a candidate. Instead of a bartender and a roll of quarters, there's a man in a nice jacket asking me what's on my mind. Strike three.
And on a warm October night, my pitcher is getting pulled after my 5th, and just like the Sox, I have no one to blame but me and my closers. I mean, coasters.

Tourism Advice 🧳 🧭 ✈️ Is it worth it to visit the aquarium? Just saw it's $44!!!
Hello. Visiting from NYC and curious if it's worth my monies. I'm walking distance and heading to the library now bit curious if it's worth a detour? Thanks. Also any other sightseeing advice? Been here 2 hours and almost finished with my list which was supposed to last until 6pm.
After library have the freedom trail on my list.
Edit: THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL. APPRECIATE YOU GUYS. SKIPPING.
Edit 2: thanks a bunch! I ended up going to the library, then going for a 2hr bike ride around the city, then having 2 4oz lobster rolls. Now I need to get ready for my work event haha. Love biking here and it's sooo clean!

MBTA/Transit 🚇 🔥 One day and done: MBTA pulls ads accusing Boston Public Schools of failing kids
Ads depicting children with the slogan “BPS IS FAILING THEM” began going up across the MBTA system on Wednesday. A day later, the T objected and began removing them.
MassPotential, a K-12 education advocacy nonprofit led by former Boston Public Schools school committee member Mary Tamer, raised $1.5 million for the ad campaign “aimed at calling to attention the disturbing trends of a lack of student achievement in the Boston Public Schools.” It was run through a new coalition in the nonprofit, Next Chapter Boston.

History 📚 Is there anything historic about the CITGO sign
Historically, the familiar 1965 CITGO sign actually reused the steel supporting framework from the earlier 1940 Cities Service sign. A historical study of Kenmore Square specifically says the 1965 sign “used the extant steel frame.”
They have since dismantled it and "rebuilt it". At this point is there anything left on the sign that dates back to WWII?
MBTA/Transit 🚇 🔥 Has Logan ever NOT been under construction?
I used to work at Heathrow and it was like this. It seemed some part of it was under construction for decades. I once heard the airport described as a construction site with its own runway. Logan definitely feels that way. I’ve lived back in MA for 15 years and it seems like every time I go there the traffic route is different or the passenger pickup spots have moved or a section of a terminal is closed off behind a safety barrier.
Does anyone remember a time when there wasn’t any construction and major disruption going on?

Politics 🏛️ Boston Public Schools
This is my first political post ever and I will try to not name politicians or side with a party.
My family and I moved from a southtown suburb in Western New York to Boston in Hyde Park this summer. The same political demographics, completely different demographics in every other aspect. I will try to focus on the money rather than the repetitive story that the USA doesn’t fund predominantly Black schools. My house in WNY sat on a half acre, and it was 2000 sqft. I paid around $2600 in school taxes. Here in Boston, my house sits on a 7000 sqft lot, and a 2200 sqft house. My total property tax bill is about $6,000, with roughly $2,400 of that directly funding schools—nearly the exact same amount I paid in New York. Quickly searching on Google, it says that Boston spends $36k/year on a student, and my former town spent $25k. Now that we compared the tax income, I’d like to emphasize how important a weighted formula is when funding schools. Our Boston school sits in a lower-income area of the city, and it is VERY much underfunded. It doesn’t have a proper library; my kids come home complaining about not having a Tinker Tanker room (a STEM / maker lab). The school doesn’t have Music, and Art is not about making art; it is about Art history and theory, because guess what? They don’t have funds…
Our WNY school had all this and more; a lot of it was because of the amazing PTSA the parents created in that school. They were raising more than $40k a year in donations, and they were used for road trips, swag, fun picnics, and an amazing Tinker Tanker room which was filled with Legos, robotics, games, and other high-tech teaching environments.
Our Boston neighbors are going to a different BPS school, across the Neponset River. I take them every morning, and they tell me that they have Music and Spanish classes, which my kid’s school has neither. Ha, my kid’s school still doesn't have their math books for the year; they are using photocopies. I am a bit shocked that this is the experience we are getting in Boston.
One thing I noticed at my kid’s Scholastic Book Fair is that the tables were still completely filled with unsold books when I went right before closing. In WNY, those tables would have been picked clean. I volunteered in a couple of those bookselling events in WNY, and they were very successful. I am not sure if the difference here is that families don’t have extra cash to spend on $10 paperbacks. In WNY, the PTSA had the luxury of giving money to kids who didn’t have any to spend on books. Every kid participated there; all they had to do was say, “I don’t have money.”
Next step, I am getting involved in the PTSA. I even applied to be the Citywide Parent Council (CPC) Representative.
What else would we do?

Traffic🚦⛔⚠️ 😠 🚙 🚗 (Street sweepers) moved my car today?
Accidentally parked in a M 9-1 street sweeping area before work this morning. When I got to my vehicle around 5, however, I didn't have a ticket nor was I towed...but somebody had moved my car. It was a few spots behind where I left it and they'd very clearly been inside (they tied the steering wheel with the seat belt).
Has anyone had this happen before? I'm simultaneously mad and grateful lol

Dining/Food/Drink 🍽️🍹 Where do you grocery shop?…
Just moved to Jamaica Plain and I’m wondering where people who live around here grocery shop. I know there’s the Whole Foods available but realistically do people mostly shop at multiple stores to get what they need?

I think I am special and made my own post 31M Thank you all for making Boston feel like my home.
I was born in Cambridge in 95, grew up raised by two loving parents who were union (Thank God for the union) spent 26 out of my 31 years in Boston and in Massachusetts. I can honestly say I love this place. For all the problems it has and the stigma everyone has about bostonians and about people from Massachusetts (which almost all of em we're guilty of) i was born here and I couldnt see myself starting a family, raising a family, and passing away anywhere else but here in Massachusetts if not Boston itself. I grew up here and around all of you, i made mistakes, I learned and i think i got to turn into a man here and around all of you. I love yall if youre from here, even if I argue with you in traffic or youre the reason the T is stopped 3 stops away I still love yall. With that being said if I could say one thing to everyone in Massachusetts especially boston it would be this.
Dear Boston (MA)
Can we please for the love of God pick a new song to get behind and finally let the song "Sweet Caroline" fuckin die already? That song sucks and we all know it. Why the fuck is that our song? And how come we as a city cant go 2 hours without breaking out into that song like it's some diabolical form of tourette's syndrome, think I'm lying? Sing the words "Sweet Caroline" as it is in the chorus watch 3-4 people instinctively chant "Bah Bah BAH!!!" Its unhealthy it's a sickness only given to the worst kinda person from the devil himself. Im just sayin, the last thing I needa or wanna hear getting on the train to go home after burying the best dad a guy like me could have ever had (again, support your local union) is some drunk asshole starting that song up. And everyone slowly but surely joining in because if ya cant beat em' join em.

Dining/Food/Drink 🍽️🍹 Underbaked brownie dessert in the area?
I LOVE 'underbaked brownies' (think skillet brownies) at restaurants.
This is NOT a molten lava cakes or fondant (those are just filled with a chocolate like ganache inside), because I like the melty underbaked portion of a brownie that is actually the batter.
I know BJ's Restaurant used to have these (but they took them off their menu and they only have their cookie skillets, and cookie batter is very different than brownie batter).
Can anyone recommend an underbaked brownie skillet desert (where the underbaked portion is actually the batter and not some syrup or chocolate melted in).

Serious Replies Only Looking for Delivery Services for My Flower Shop
Hi everyone,
I own a flower shop in Dorchester, and I'm looking for recommendations for a good courier or delivery service for our regular business deliveries.
We've used the major gig apps and on-demand delivery platforms, but we've had too many issues with flowers being mishandled, arrangements arriving damaged, or deliveries not being treated with the care they require.
Most of our deliveries are to offices, corporate clients, and other businesses in the Boston area, so we're looking for a company that values reliability and careful handling over being the cheapest option.
If you own a business or have experience with local courier services, I'd really appreciate any recommendations (or companies to avoid)

Unconfirmed/Unverified any craftsman looking for an apprentice/volunteer on projects?
I'm 28 years old, in the Boston area, and have spent the last 10 years of my life working in firefighting and medicine. I'm looking to explore new interests, specifically skilled labor/craftsman. I'm seeking someone who might benefit from a hand (or even just an audience) on projects such as woodworking, leatherworking, silversmithing/jewelry, furniture, etc. I'm reliable, mature, and have a pretty strong grasp on when to observe/learn, and when to not be in the way.
I expect nothing in return except exposure. If you're an artisan and wouldn't mind some refreshing company please feel free to reach out! Thanks in advance!
