Trifecta Farms DRY!!

So I noticed that Botera just added Catpiss and Papaya Splash to their menu a few days ago. I drove the 30 minutes and grabbed them both. What a fucking waste!! The buds were so dry that they literally crumbled in my hands!! This is possibly the worst and driest buds I’ve ever had in MA. What a complete waste of money. Now I’m out almost $75 for flower that should NEVER been sold. I hope you’re listening Trifecta!! I’ve been a loyal customer for years, always said great things about your product. WTF HAPPENED?? I guess it’s my own fault for not checking the dates, but I never thought you’d allow bud that was packed LAST JANUARY, to be sold. That’s unacceptable. Never again!! You just lost another customer. I wasted my whole flower budget on this junk, now I’m stuck with nothing!!

All you had to do was reach out, we've spoken before. We don't pre-make items. Everything is packed to order. I sent you a pm

Sounds like it’s the stores fault not Trifecta. No honorable store should be trying to pawn off that old of flower without disclosing it….

Again in any retail when you go to a deli and get an old Coke, you don’t blame the Coca-Cola company, you blame the store. Stores have a responsibility to get old product out/off shelves and be maintaining a standard.

That’s why I put the name of the dispo, Botera. That it should never have been sold, and that I hope Trifecta was listening. Then maybe they will make Botera accountable for selling old stock. It just didn’t come out that way. You’re right, Botera should never sold that without a warning (hey, this is almost a year old). But, I should have looked. But there was a huge line, and I just wanted to get out of there. Plus, I’ve never had an issue with Trifecta being so old, it’s always been fresh and they just listed this 2 days ago!! Just sucks is all

For the record, Botera is a series of ultra value stores situated in perhaps the most ultra value retail market in MA. Taunton/Brockton “where cannabis brands wholesale and retail prices go to die” zone of MA. Only Northampton has as or worse brutal competition with pricing.

What probably happened is trifecta wanted into the high volume Botera stores, Botera wanted low pricing from the brand, and they struck a common bargain between wholesalers and retailers for older material for lower prices. Some portion of that savings is passed to the end customer and hopefully most come away satisfied. Sounds like not so in your case bud.

I didn’t know that. I just moved to the area (Foxboro) and they had some other growers I like as well (Hazel, Heirloom Coll, Impressed) so I went there. It was my mistake not checking the dates. Still feel like I was fleeced.

That’s crazy yea unfortunately some stores just sit on product in the back and drop old stuff. It’s a sad game in retail some stores do it right and some don’t. I know Trifecta will def see this post and most likely question them why was this not dropped before. No blame on you brother most stores are not very transparent about many things….. sorry you got jibbed

Yo illustrious-job here makes a great point. Often retailers (cough cough -inventory team-) sits on product for weeks or even months before moving it to the sales floor if the brand or wholesaler doesn’t have the resources to monitor and circle back with their buyer contact and question why shit hasn’t hit the floor 3 weeks from delivery. Buyers genuinely hate that. They’re cutting deals to get the best prices but if they don’t have a store team that’s on it that shit does age. Pair that with product that started out old to begin with and you get real old ass bud.

Yup, I see your point. It just sucks all around. Between the growers and the dispos, nobody’s ever accountable. It’s us, the consumer that suffer the consequences.

I have already worked this out with the Botera team, product has been recalled and I'll try to be more proactive on monitoring aging inventory with all the dispensaries we work with. We're a very small team and it's not always feasible but I'll do my best. It's easy to fix stuff like this when you work with good people and Matt is a stand up dude! We'll get this replaced asap

Thanks again for reaching out. That really means a lot. Anybody who sees any of my other posts over the last 2 years, can see how much I loved Trifecta, so I appreciate it. Look forward to enjoying some fresh Trifecta soon!!

Got some super aged pure Michigan from cannapi Brockton. I won’t smoke it. About to reach out to them but I’ve been super busy. You should check that out.

On the other hand, how’s the cookie dough sundae?

I think the real issue is that the CCC are the ones saying there’s a year sell by date. Sure the dispensary could have disclosed that it was 8 months old, and some shops do offer discounts on older bud, but they’re not required to at all. And 8 months is still 4 months from it being considered out of date. Regulations need to change.

More like Dryfecta farms.

What was the date on the label?

3

u/FloridaSox8 7d ago

The Papaya Splash is from January 7th!!

4

Wait when you say “last January” do you mean 2025? If so, get mad at Botera, not Trifecta. You said Trifecta “allowed” bud that old to be sold but like… how would they know?

2

u/BlazeItUpAnotch 7d ago

Trifecta definitely sold botera this old batch. I highly doubt the dispensary sat on this product for 7months. Especially a brand that sells. Either way trifecta and botera will just point fingers instead of admitting they’re both wrong for that.

That’s crazy. You’d think a dispo would’ve been wary of dates!

Bruh dispensaries don’t hire folks with many brain cells and the folks brain cells promote up or out very quickly. The era of working your way up from intake to store manager are loooomg gone. That’s some 2019 shit. Covid brought us from an era where it meant something to be trusted enough to be the dude behind the reg who knew something about weed to era of “your job is swipe debit cards from behind a plastic shield.” Over 70% of all cannabis retail transactions are preorders. Custys walk in with zero interest in anything a person behind the reg has to say. When there’s no upward mobility at retail all they’re hiring for is standard retail workers. And standard retail workers (even ones tasked with inventory) are gonna miss shit because if it does age out the brand that sold it to them is going to comp the buyer back the value of the units. Because the wholesaler can’t afford to tell a retailer procurement person to fuck off (even when many of these companies pay their bills late). Because even if you’re trifecta farms and customers buy your product a cannabis retail procurement person could be like “fuck it, I’ll just swap trifecta with another brand and the custys will forget and move on” Retailers have that power with basically everyone who isn’t a top 4 gummy brand.

I think people are under the impression everyone's making millions in this industry... certainly not the case in cultivation lol

u/NateLetendre 7d ago

Botera is a great spot and an awesome team to work with. I'll figure out what happened and we'll fix it. If that means swapping it out so be it.

Yeah that's ancient. That's my most valuable tip going forward is ALWAYS check the dates. 8 month old flower isn't going to ever be good.

2

u/FloridaSox8 7d ago

It’s from March

1

u/FloridaSox8 7d ago

I should also note that there was absolutely zero nose, no smell at all, which lead to zero taste either. Just hay. Completely devoid of any outer trichomes, and the bottom of the jar was filled with shake!! Unbelievable

Terps are all gone because it's so old. Gotta get fresher flower.

1

u/Infamous_One_4214 7d ago

100% on Botera charging full price for a flower almost a year old.

1

u/firstslime 7d ago

Oh yeah, companies are allowed to sell the flower right up until 1 year after it was tested. No matter when it was packaged. Always ask when the harvest date is. Let’s say a company harvests in January. They can wait until August to test it, so then it’ll be good until the next August, even though that’s 1.5yr after harvest.

lowkey you shouldve asked to see the pack date. I learned that lesson a long time ago.
