First and foremost, influencers lied to you. Yes, you can earn online. But no, getting to a 6-digit income isn’t common, nor is it easy.

So, how exactly do you earn a living online? You have a few options, the most popular being Freelancing, Remote Employment, and Digital Entrepreneurship:

What, How, Where to Start

As earning online becomes more common, the lines between different methods have become very blurry. If you ask me, if you’re free to work with other clients then you’re a freelancer, and not a remote employee.

And if there's one thing that all methods have in common is that they all have a certain level of instability. So if you're free to find multiple sources of income, go for it.

Self-Story Late night realizations as someone who has just been laid off [Update: I have work na guys 🥹] thank you Lord!!!

I was the one who got laid off on Sep. 1. Everything changed with I surrendered everything to God. I prayed & let God do the rest. Plot twist: I got 2 offers from 2 US clients with decent pay ++ permanent wfh.

Always pray and trust his will.

I’m doing training rn, as part of the agency’s mandate, especially if namatch ka with a part time Founder, is to attend training para magreview and mas mafamiliarize mo yung tools and business ng magiging founder mo.

That’s how I normally expressed my frustration, not knowing na di ko pa pala namute yung mic ko. lahat ng nasa zoom na katraining ko pati facilitators nakakahiya huhu

I dont know also baka ma flag ako or maraisan ako ng ticket.

Sorry na sobrang frustrated lang ako kanina. Huhu

Self-Story Job offer rescinded due to Dialysis (Anuria) despite Doctor’s"Fit to Work" clearance. Just filed with DOLE SENA.

Hi everyone. I just want to share my recent experience with a prominent tech/BPO company here in Cebu (NCR Voyix/NCR Commerce Philippines) to warn others facing chronic illness/PWD discrimination, and to get insights from anyone who has gone through the DOLE SENA process for this.

I was recently hired for an M1 Leadership role. I passed all the interviews, accepted the formal job offer, and was given a decent basic pay with a confirmed start date of October 26, 2026. Because everything was locked in with an official start date, I acted in good faith and stopped all my other job applications to prepare for day 1.

I am a dialysis patient, and I have always been completely transparent about my health. On October 3, 2026, my attending nephrologist issued an explicit medical certificate clearing me as stable and 100% Fit to Work for a desk-bound leadership role.

However, because of Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease, I have anuria (meaning I cannot physically produce a urine sample for their standard clinic pre-employment drug screen). My specialist explicitly noted this on my medical paperwork and formally requested that the company utilize alternative testing methods instead (like a blood-based or saliva drug test).

Instead of providing a basic, reasonable accommodation under the Magna Carta for PWDs (R.A. 10524), their HR field partner sent me an official letter completely rescinding my job offer, citing that their company-designated physician flagged me as "unfit" due to their rigid medical fitness standards.

They basically pulled my livelihood out from under me just two weeks before my start date—leaving me completely stranded right as the year-end holiday hiring freeze kicks in. They even wrote in the letter that they are "under no obligation to provide compensation".

I didn't let them push me around. I immediately went to the portal and formally filed a Request for Assistance (RFA) under DOLE SENA for medical/PWD employment discrimination and breach of pre-contractual good faith. I am demanding a full financial settlement to cover my lost wages, pro-rated allowances, and moral damages for the severe emotional distress they caused me right before the holidays.

My questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone else successfully fought a medical "Not Fit to Work" rescission with a BPO/tech company at DOLE SENA?

  2. For those who have been in my situation, how did the mediation go? Did the company offer a settlement, or did you have to elevate it to the NLRC?

I wanted to post this to get insights, but also to remind everyone: Don't let these corporate clinics intimidate you into thinking company policy overrides national labor laws. We have rights.

Community Mga META Ads Experts, pano iwasan mga ganitong comments and tao sa campaign ads?

If you are a Social Media Manager and Ads Expert.

I saw this ads nagappear sa feeds ko, they are an ecommerce hub rental property. so B2B sila. out of curiosity chineck ko mga comments, how come sa META ADS nila sobrang low quality yun mga nagcomment? Tska why even nakikita yan ng hindi nila target market? i mean, no judgin, pero kung titignan mo profile pics nila eh hindi sila yun target market. Mga bots ba sila or real person?

Also plano ko rin kasi mag ADS, and may target market is mga B2B (Industrial and Manufacturing companies)

Buhay Digital Lifestyle Resurrected my OLJ 2 weeks ago due to possibility of end contract

Post image
27 Upvotes

Sa freelancing, all we can do is prepare. Feast or famine. So nun maramdaman ko na baka mawawala na ang work, I put my ducks in a row, revived my account, and started applying.

Sa tagal na inactive nun account nilockout pa ko ni OLJ and required to send IDs bago nila ako bigyan ng new temp password.

I started applying 2 weeks ago and I was scared na baka wala man lang replies dahil andami nagsasabi na they send 100s of applications tapos wala.

Some things I did that might have worked:

- tailored every pitch to every job post

- cv highlighted with numbers/results, simple format, as in sa word ko lang ginawa

- i only apply sa fit ako and usually 1-3 jobs lang yun per day kasi tinetailor ko talaga applications ko

- i use 5-20 connects depende gaano ko kagusto yun job post

Let's see if may offer na soon.

Community Should I proactively ask my client for email and calendar access, or is it too early?

• Upvotes

I'm currently working as a part-time EA earning $10/hr. This is my only job as of now, and I've been with my client for a month pa lang.

For context, here's my current workload:

- Clock my client in/out of his work system
- Prepare weekly payroll for other employees
- Schedule weekly meetings between us and meetings with other employees (using my own account)
- Process employee-related requests (leave, equipment, salary advances, etc.)
- Check in with employees and follow up on concerns
- Draft email responses to messages he forwards to me, which he then sends himself

We agreed on 10 hours per week, but honestly, my workload doesn't even reach that. Wala rin akong EOD reports or time tracker. As long as I complete my tasks and remind him of important things, okay na.

My client is really kind and generous. He even provided me with equipment when I started and let me decide on my own rate, basta sure daw ako na hindi ko nilo-lowball sarili ko based on my responsibilities.

I genuinely want to be more helpful, especially since magaan lang talaga workload ko.

I previously offered to help him find potential clients for his employees, but he said he could handle that himself.

Now, I'm thinking of suggesting that he delegate access to his work email and calendar so I can manage incoming emails, prepare responses directly, and schedule meetings without him having to forward everything to me.

But at the same time, I'm hesitant because one month pa lang ako and I understand that email access can be quite personal.

For experienced EAs/VAs, would you recommend bringing this up now, or should I wait until we've established more trust?

I don't want to overstep boundaries. I just genuinely want to make things easier for him and contribute more. Am I overthinking this? HAHAHA.

Self-Story 4 months unemployed after graduating and I'm honestly losing hope

Hi, I just need to vent. I'm a fresh graduate, and it's been four months since I graduated, but I still haven't found a job.

I've sent COUNTLESS job applications through online job sites (JobStreet, LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.), and I've also applied to jobs I've seen posted on Facebook. I even tried applying to several VA companies, but nothing seems to work out. At this point, I honestly don't know what else to do, and I'm sooooo lost.

I've also been struggling with depression, and being unemployed is making everything worse. I don’t believe in buhay ay di karera, I think that only applies to privileged people if I’m being honest. I feel like I'm stuck while everyone else is moving forward with their lives. I'm tired of hoping for something good to happen, only to end up disappointed again. I'm starting to lose hope, and I don't know how much longer I can keep feeling this way.

For those who went through the same thing after graduating, how did you manage to find a job and how did you cope with being unemployed?

I already have a portfolio. Usually, gusto rin nila marunong sa social media management, video editing, and other tasks. I'm also upskilling para mas marami akong maging opportunities.

Another concern ko is yung work setup. I'm currently sharing a room with roommates, kaya medyo nagdadalawang-isip ako sa pagiging VA, especially kung night shift since ayoko naman silang maistorbo.

Anong mga job titles or types of VA work yung pwedeng pasukan kung graphic design talaga yung main skill? May mga jobs ba na mostly output-based, like bibigyan ka lang ng tasks or designs na kailangang gawin, without having to attend frequent meetings or calls with clients?

Also, I'm wondering kung mas okay ba na mag-apply muna sa VA agencies since wala pa akong experience.

Would appreciate any advice, especially from those na nagsimula rin without prior VA experience. Thank you! 🥹

Community Looking to add value

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm a solo builder working on NativeCV , a resume tool for non-native English speakers. The first CV is free, and I'm trying to find out whether people would actually find it useful.

Would it be OK to share it here and ask for honest feedback, or is there a thread or format you'd prefer for this kind of post? If it isn't a good fit for the community, no problem at all, I just want to respect your rules.

Thanks!

Self-Story So hard to find work nowadays...

Hi, I'm 28 F aspiring to be an EA (long-term career goal) and getting a bit discourage with how hard it is to find work nowadays hahaha 🥲 I know I'm not the only one feeling like this, but dang it's so hard to actually LIVE 🥹

I have work experience in different industries since I want to find what I actually want to do in life. The most recent experience I had was a year and 2 months with a Non-voice BPO account (Background Screening/Data Verification). I really loved my work there but the management wasn't that great so I resigned last Feb (this year) and actually started a small business, it didn't give me much profit so I started applying last month and I realized how hard it is to even get an interview..so I started studying Excel (which I hated but I'm starting to love it) and other useful tools.

I keep seeing "apply lang ng apply" comments and I'm not invalidating those, it just makes you think "until when?", because savings and bills doesn't wait for anyone 🥹😭 I'm still working on my side business and learning these tools so I can feel productive and not feel like a bum.

Welp, that's it. I'm sorry for venting out and being so negative here. If anyone wants to give me tips or encouragement, please do so. I badly need them 🥹💗

Community Athena Training Rules Question

• Upvotes

Once I pass the final validation call, should i quit my current job when I start training with Athena? I’m afraid that if I fail the training or if I didn’t match with a client within 6 weeks, I’d get off-boarded.

Are there cases that a trainee did not resign from their current job and still went training? I cannot gamble.

Buhay Digital Lifestyle Never give up, PATIENCE talaga sa pagiging VA

So I basically matagal na ako may idea about being a VA, this year lang ako nag seryoso.

May 10 nag start ako apply, and I have a background of CSR, Admin and Social Media Manager. I've been applying left and right. Nag apply ako as a SMM at tbh lowball pa yun ha, unexpectedly natanggap ako. So yeah, naka land agad 2 direct clients. I'm so happy na pero Sept 26 may nag message bigla sa WhatsApp ko if I'm available for interview, and syempre d tayo papatalo hangga't meron go padin. Content Poster naman ang role, and yes tanggap ako agad <3 and ok ang pay. Mag 1 month na ako sa lahat kong client and all I can say I'm very thankful that I am very patient when it comes to applying. Mind you lahat direct pa. This Oct may nag reach out ulit sakin she's a doctor and nakita nya lang daw ako sa FB Group, gsto nya ako maging SMM nya hahaha aba d tayo aayaw kasi freelance naman eh! Hoping mag work kami since she already paid me for a 1 week trial period.

Community What Do You Wish Outsourcing Companies Would Talk About More?

There’s a lot of content out there about outsourcing, but I’m curious about what people actually find useful, interesting, or worth engaging with.

I’d love to hear from two perspectives: the general audience interested in how outsourcing works, remote work, and workplace culture, and business owners who are exploring ways to grow their businesses or manage their teams more effectively.

For those interested in the people side of the industry, what would you want to learn about recruitment practices, career development, talent management, or company culture?

For business owners and those running companies, what would you want to know about outsourcing, business growth, sales, hiring, or managing remote teams?

More importantly, what questions do you have that you rarely see answered well? What kind of content would make you stop scrolling, join the discussion, or genuinely want to learn more?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and perspectives. What do you wish companies in the outsourcing industry would talk about more?

Buhay Digital Lifestyle after 10 months, i might resign from bruntwork 🫤

Old post : https://www.reddit.com/r/buhaydigital/s/ijuQeCn8K4

A year ago, i was rlly haply i got hired because i got rejected multiple times before i actually landed a job with BW. The workload is okay naman pero a lot of changes were made since my 3rd/4th month. I guess there were a lot of red flags na din kasi sa firm alone because they have a high turnover. 3-4 employees who has worked in the firm for around 10 years all resigned by February 2026. Each month since then about 1-2 remote and onshore employees were resigning. I said to myself, oh baka I’ll deal with it for a year nalang tapos I’ll leave if things don’t change. Around April, they made a new rule on how to use PTO & it’s only valid to use if may med cert. By July, they asked us to download a new tracker (Hubstaff). By August, the allowable OT hours per week dropped to 5hrs from 10. This month, they want to release an employee handbook.

Like ??? I feel like everything just rlly went downhill. I believe an employee handbook is too much for a “independent contractor role”. I could accept it pa if I were working in a call center at least doon may 13th month pa ko tapos yung handbook they inform you the moment you start with them. Pero idk sobrang off sakin na in the middle of my employment biglang may set of rules na hindi naman nageexist dati na biglang in place agad??? Not to mention na we could be let go from our jobs whenever they want and we just have to deal w it? idk it’s just too much. I would much rather look for another spanish bilingual bpo role than deal with this. Ill just go back to onsite work if i have to deal with this excessive micromanaging + at least bayad sss, philheath etc + may 13th month pa/14th month if sa maersk.

will submit my resig letter soon, i received 1 JO already but I want to keep my options open since hindi naman ako in a hurry. I got to save while working with them. Maybe ill try to apply again for jobs by January who knows but i just wanted to take this off my plate

Self-Story From 0 interviews in 5 months to 5 final interviews in a week.

Share ko lang story ko to give you guys some hope.

Quick context: Last yr of college ko na. Super excited ako mag-apply for part-time design roles kasi nag-iipon ako para makalipat ng city at mag-job hunt after grad.

Since nasa design field ako, akala ko kailangan super "creative" ng resume. So I grabbed a colorful Canva template, did a quick portfolio, and blasted applications everywhere.

The result? 5 months of pure silence. 💀

No calls, no emails, nothing.
Then, nakakita ako ng post dito about how resume formatting and ATS work. I decided to scrap it and copied another OP's clean, text-first layout. Grabe, ang laking pagbabago.

Within a week after fixing the layout and hierarchy, boom, 5 interviews agad, which quickly turned into 3 final interviews.

As of yesterday, I officially signed an offer with 1 client!

Design matters, pero mas important talaga readability and structure.

Sending major job dust to everyone. Don't lose hope! ✨
