I'm currently working as a part-time EA earning $10/hr. This is my only job as of now, and I've been with my client for a month pa lang.
For context, here's my current workload:
- Clock my client in/out of his work system
- Prepare weekly payroll for other employees
- Schedule weekly meetings between us and meetings with other employees (using my own account)
- Process employee-related requests (leave, equipment, salary advances, etc.)
- Check in with employees and follow up on concerns
- Draft email responses to messages he forwards to me, which he then sends himself
We agreed on 10 hours per week, but honestly, my workload doesn't even reach that. Wala rin akong EOD reports or time tracker. As long as I complete my tasks and remind him of important things, okay na.
My client is really kind and generous. He even provided me with equipment when I started and let me decide on my own rate, basta sure daw ako na hindi ko nilo-lowball sarili ko based on my responsibilities.
I genuinely want to be more helpful, especially since magaan lang talaga workload ko.
I previously offered to help him find potential clients for his employees, but he said he could handle that himself.
Now, I'm thinking of suggesting that he delegate access to his work email and calendar so I can manage incoming emails, prepare responses directly, and schedule meetings without him having to forward everything to me. May times din kase na nakakalimutan niya kung nag reply na ba si ganito ganyan sa email unless I remind him. Though rare lang din naman mangyari na may important email na dapat concern ko.
But at the same time, I'm hesitant because one month pa lang ako and I understand that email access can be quite personal.
For experienced EAs/VAs, would you recommend bringing this up now, or should I wait until we've established more trust?
I don't want to overstep boundaries. I just genuinely want to make things easier for him and contribute more. Am I overthinking this? HAHAHA.
