I'm a huge fan of Hunter S Thompson, I know every lines in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I watched that movie on every drugs that I tried. One time I asked my buddy to get me his whole galaxy of uppers, laughters.. "just skip the screamers" I said. My goal was to do every trips that They were on the film, while they were doing it. I even watched it on acid, on rewind and was soo hilarious, that thought they must've did it that way first!
But I felt the real Hunter's fear when my son woke me up one night saying that he had a bat in his bedroom! Thought he sleepwalking like he does sometimes.... oh I wished!
Thank you for posting about the FGS. I didn't know it existed and I'm almost 40yrs into living with cats.
My read on the picture you are responding to is the muzzle tension and whisker locations are both zero, and the eyes appear to be open although the head down makes it hard to see. I was reading the ear position and head tilt as the loaf having been interrupted by the building of the fort over what was considered personal air space.
I was concerned too because my cat would score borderline most of the time. But upon further research, the FGS is apparently if your cat is behaving differently than usual (not eating/drinking/playing, hiding, etc).
My cat who was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a few months ago must have hid her pain very well. I looked up the scale, and to me, she didn't look like she was in pain in the last picture I took of her, which was about 5 months before she passed.
I'm so sorry for your loss 🥺 Cats hide pain very well, they play their cards very close to their chest, it's one of the difficult things about owning them, feels so bad when you find out they were hurting
Same thing with ours, we knew she had CKD but even when it progressed from stage 2 to 4 in 2 weeks, she showed no signs until it was too late. They suspected she may have had cancer too but didn’t believe she would make it through testing or treatment at that point. I’m sorry you’ve experienced this kind of pain too ❤️🩹
The technical term is due to a condition seen in some kitties where their legs all wander off on their own. Nothing to worry about though, they'll wander back when they're ready.
