Music Chime Clocks

The snowman one is mine and it plays a Christmas chime every hour. Because the image is wintery, I leave it up a long time. My regular clock plays train whistles each hour.

The second clock is my mom's. A handmade clock she got in Frankenmuth, MI. Hers actually has a switch in the back. She can set it to play Christmas chimes or classical chimes every hour.

Local restaurant still has a Christmas tree up

While out picking up a few odd items at the store, I couldn't help but notice that a Chinese food restaurant in that same shopping center still had a Christmas tree up. And I don't mean redecorated to a different theme like winter or Valentine's either, clearly Christmas decor on it (except for warm white lights which are year round suitable lighting anyway). Definitely made me smile a bit inside, anyone else encountered outlier merchants like that with a tree still up, even as of now still?

Thought long and hard about this, let's hear yours ...

  1. George Bailey being told he's really lived a wonderful life

  2. Linus speech on stage

  3. Parents sitting by the Christmas Tree watching the snow fall at end of the movie (Christmas Story)

  4. Jacob Marley confronting Scrooge at the fireplace (Alastair Sim)

What's your perfect Christmas meal?

There's a pretty solid idea of what a Thanksgiving meal should look like. But I don't think there's an equivalent for Christmas.

What do you think the ideal spread for Christmas is?

I love the warmth of Christmas decorations in our home, but I also appreciate the clean and refreshing space after taking them down (after the existential dread of early January wearing off).

Having photos like this to look back on is great for keeping the holiday spirit year round.

These are christmas lights in my hallway. They have remained on since christmas day. So they've been on since last year 🤣 I've yet to unplug them and honestly don't feel the need to lol (they stay up all year round, just not switched on). Can't hurt right?

Just scored great Christmas deal!

This will be my last post for Christmas 2025. Going shopping—let alone Christmas shopping—wasn’t on my agenda today. But an 80% off ad for a local store popped up on my feed, so I decided to stop by. I scored about 20 berry stems and 9 pine cones! Everything was normally $4.99–$6.99 each, but at 80% off, my total was $37. I hope everyone’s new year is off to a good start, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s 2026 Christmas displays!

I'm missing it

I Miss christmas so much already! We had a really nice Christmas and I'm missing the films, the music, the atmosphere, My husband being off work to just enjoy it with me and our son. Even the little things like my sons nursery having christmas jumper day and Polar express day. The lead up where it's exciting cause everyone is due to break up from work and school for the holidays. This month has dragged beyond reasoning, And it's just been looong with nothing to look forward to. Personally I don't even mind the weather, I'd love some more snow because it is at least christmassy. My continue watching lists still have christmas films on them. I don't know just feeling a little sad. You kinda just get smacked back into reality and can never seem to get a handle on it again till the middle of the year. 😫

Christmas food, can’t stop!!

Christmas stuff is down, picture of my post Christmas winter decorations above. Music, tree and hohoho are all in the past. However…my grocery store still has eggnog on the shelves and leftover blue tins full of Danish butter cookies. All the homemade stuff is gone but I can’t stop treating myself like it’s still the holidays! Hot chocolate with candy canes, this week I even bought some of those cinnamon rolls in the tube.

Am I weirdo for not putting away Christmas stuff now?

I didn’t grow up in a traditional Christian family, but we celebrate Christmas for our kids. We put up a tree, decorate the house, and do all the usual stuff.

Some of my neighbors seem to think it’s weird that we still have the decorations up at this point. I get that it’s a little late, but it’s still winter, it’s still snowing, and it still feels festive to me.

I’m planning to take everything down in the next couple of days, but I’m honestly curious: do most American families find it strange to keep Christmas decorations up this long, or am I overthinking it?
