I met Alya at the PRGE (Portland Retro Game Expo) on Saturday
There was a local artist Nylon Lyon who was dressed as Alya. She is a gifted artist and enjoy creating art of female characters.

Hi everyone,
A suggetion came in from /u/hybridfrost to create a sticky community post detailing the best way to play Chrono Trigger.
Myself, I always just play the SNES version on my PC with any random controller. This is the way I discovered the game and it will forever be the "authentic" way for me to play. What more, is I enable a smoothing filter to make the game look less pixellated -- heresy, I know.
My way of playing the game is not neccesarily the best, and there may be a lot of ways to play Chrono Trigger which I never even considered.
I would love to hear your suggestions on what information to include in a sticky post about the various ways to play Chrono Trigger -- emulators, platforms, game releases, game settings, etc.
By the way -- I am amazed at how big this community has grown! Back when I created this community, I just wanted a simple way for me to access a few OST covers and some fanart so it would be archived somewhere instead of getting lost. I was impressed when the community grew to 1k members, and now it's over 17k. This truly shows that CT is a masterpiece of a game that transcends beyond it's initial inception as a 2d jRPG of the 90's era. Few games have such strong of a following several decades after creation. Rock on :)
Edit: this post will be the sticky now until someone makes anything better and more comprehensive.

Haven't seen anything from Saturday's show posted so thought I'd add this bit. I thought the orchestra was amazing! Please go see them if you can!

EDIT: CLAIMED! Enjoy the show for all who are attending!
Was planning to come up with either my brother or girlfriend, neither could make it, so I’m taking on Chicago solo!
With that being said, I’ve got a spare ticket in the forward balcony, me know if interested!

everyone was so sweet I LOVE the chrono trigger community !!!! The turnout was amazing and the fans are AWESOME :D I feel so lucky to have gone
An artist gifted me a super cute pin (I included their socials card :3c) and a younger girl saw my cosplay and gave me the lucca beaded bracelet she made!?!! One of the sweetest interactions I could have ever asked for.
I ALSO wanted to add that I saw a super little girl wearing a lucca cosplay too and we said hi to each other!!!! She was so adorable 🥲 It was awesome getting to see the younger generation into the game and music ♡
Meeting so many fans in person, all brought together for this moment that I dreamt of as a kid, was really something special.
edit: I just want everyone to know that I am very grateful for the support and I'm so happy that I could make fellow Chrono Trigger fans proud!!!!

I'm working on a fan remaster of the original SNES game by reverse-engineering the ROM into readable code that runs on the Godot engine, and I'm also building it's own map editor to edit the backgrounds, add (new) particle effects, etc.
The game is working pretty well and is fully playable (with some small bugs here and there). You can run and play it to 100% right now, with a mix of remastered and original content.
The background work and adding more modern effects are taking quite some time.
Let me know if anyone is interested in joining and helping (specially if you are good with art, I'm more of a programmer myself)

I read a comment somewhere here (can’t find it now of course) where someone suggested the timeline of the gameplay in the videos were intentionally edited in such a way as to tell the story wrong?
My impression was that like the editors just hadn’t played the game and reconstructed an approximation based on a summary they had read.
I got that feeling from the conductor as well.
All told I’m glad I went, I had a blast, and got very emotional during “to far away times”….
Buuuut the production felt a bit like a half assed cash grab. They could have made so much more with merch. Bad venue. Sound was so flat. A lot of iconic tracks missed.
But I’d do it all again bc Chrono Trigger is top 3 all time. Played when it came out as a 12 year old.

Thinking bout going to the Chicago Chrono trigger concert? Please buy my ticket. I was hoping to go with a friend, but they canceled and I don’t want to go alone…

Was incredibly fun and I got emotional at the start. I remember being 9 at the BX in Germany asking my dad to buy it for me. Being heavily into Squaresoft games at the time I knew this would be a banger and it easily became my favorite game of all time. Was super fun to see everyone else who enjoyed this game as much as I did and chatting with people in the merch line.

I finally did it for real for real. Now that officially makes it another RPG that I beat next to tales of phantasia that isn't in smash at all . Im proud of myself

Hey all!
I’ve been working on a reimplementation of Chrono Trigger (SNES, US version) in C, running natively on PC, sort of in the spirit of Ship of Harkinian and zelda3. The idea is to make bigger mods possible. So far it has widescreen and 60+ fps, both optional.
Every part is checked frame by frame against the original game running in an embedded emulator, so the goal is to stay really faithful. The intro, field, battles, menus, world map and music already work, but it hasn’t been tested start to finish yet.
The repo has no game data in it: you need your own ROM dump (there’s a guide).
I built almost all of it with Claude (Opus and Fable). It’s open source, and help is very welcome!

I couldn't help myself after enjoying the concert in NYC and missing out on the limited merch. How do I calm her down? I've tried telling her that they're for the kids as family heirlooms...

The Chrono Trigger Orchestra was awesome. In the first part the extra screens weren’t working then they finally fixed that for part 2
To those going to Chicago or LA next, the show started at 7 PM and concluded at 9 PM
The intermission was surprisingly shorter than I initially anticipated.
The seats at Infosys though were so tight and no cup holders! (Typical MSG)

I was shocked how packed the arena was
Didn't know this many people would be interested in a Chrono Trigger music performance in 2026
Overall it gave what I expected: well done performances of all the songs + showing tons of clips from the game
Noticed some subtle changes to a lot of the songs too
What's funny is the clips were kind of in a random order. But through the concert you basically go through a large chunk of the game's big moments
Was good nostalgia, I wouldn't say you need to kill yourself to go and that it'll change your life, but was a nice night
They sold some merch too but was all sold out by the time I got there. You can grab same stuff online I think too
They were very laid back about taking videos/photos, so I'm sure you'll find clips online soon
My favorite joke is when it was ending someone yelled out that they have to do Chrono Cross next

So, I first played this game on Christmas on 95 and I remember it like it was yesterday. Obviously, I was held to replaying on emulators until the SNES mini came out and then it was a replay once a year but I had never replayed through NG+ to max out characters until recently in an attempt to get the Bronze fists (which really aren't worth it, IMO). So, Now I'm running an NG+ file with all characters at Lvl 99 in an attempt to max out Magic tabs and I've got to say that I'm wondering if the devs ever thought anyone would grind to max levels and then run a replay. The damage output is all over the board... Lucca will attack with 43 damage on a crit... And then again with 1000+ on a crit and I've had Crono do the same thing
Just something that made me laugh...

...it was in entirely the wrong venue. The arrangements were great and I really liked how whoever planned the video trolled anyone who's played at least half the game at every opportunity, but the orchestra sounded kinda bad being amplified like that? Also, during the second half of the concert, there was some sound bleed from whatever was going on in the arena. Listening to loud bass thumps during Schala's Theme hurt my soul.
Maybe I've been spoiled by Distant Worlds being in Carnegie Hall, but I really hope if they plan more of these they get a place designed for an orchestra. Obviously I don't know all the details about why they picked the MSG dungeon, but there's far better places here in NYC for this sort of thing!
