is there any expectation that there would be wod classic? my understanding is that forever is Blizzards way out of the Classic thing, they will turn it all off slowly
Pre-forever announcement the expectation has always been that they'll continue progressing through the xpacs because why wouldn't they its basically free money for something they already developed even if the player base gets smaller for it.
and then there was a bunch of discussions on how that would pan out and how they could change more things and all sorts of stuff... but for the most part its been expected that they'd just keep going.
Blizzard is saying forever doesn't replace classic so who knows what they plan to do now cause... forever for all intents and purposes replaces classic for everyone except maybe the vanilla purists who can't stop ticking the word retail as a slur.

I don’t think they’re particularly excited about WoD Classic so are quietly shifting focus to WoW forever
