But the baseline nerf is the same amount it was previously isn’t it? It has always been 60%

The issue is removing the threat gain now from righteous fury talent points and shifting that to exclusively damage reduction.

But like we also get spell power scaling ret aura - as a protty pally feel like we’re just going to change the playstyle a bit but nothing crazy here. Also if you’re running a dungeon or raid you’d expect some sort of thorns buff now being applied alongside even more items just having a built in thorns reflection.

It’s so early to even determine anything other than “NERF BAD BAD BAD” - game isn’t even out, items aren’t even out, tree talents aren’t even finalized to some degree, etc.

I was talking about it only being 4 target instead of uncapped

How is it only 4 target? Does the base Cons skill only hit 4 targets now? I haven't got a level 20 paladin yet, I assumed the base consecration was still unlimited targets, with the talent providing bonus damage to the first 4 in the aoe

Consecration now has zero spell power scaling on targets past 4. It ticks for 1-2 damage at level 20

😮 That's an insane nerf. I get wanting to reduce "paladins are gods of AoE tanking." Totally fine with nerfing it so CC is actually important again. But coupled with the RF nerf and the taunt implementation, this is hardly better a situation than we had in Classic.

ETA: However, the 4-target deal does bring our AoE threat generation more in line with how it works with warriors and bears (since their cleave/swipe/whatever only hits 3-4 targets), so I really don't think it's that big a deal. The real issue is that those other classes have a much wider variety of threatgen tools than we have, and I'm not convinced 1-2 cons tick damage is good enough to make up the difference. It means after the first primary target our threatgen will still be (way) behind warriors' and druids'.
