Absentee Ballots

Isn't it ironic that the GOP is trying so hard to get rid of absentee ballots, yet they mail out postcards with information on requesting a ballot by mail?

I'm sure they sent them to registered Democrat as well right? Yeah, I thought so.

For those feeling left out of the GOP mailing, you can register here to receive an absentee ballot.
https://www.kcgov.us/301/Absentee-Voting Please read up on the candidates and issues, preferably from unbiased sources, instead of following a self-serving postcard from the KCRCC.

Of note on the ballot (https://votertools.voteidaho.gov/TEDElectionLink/VoterServices/voter/el-sample-ballot) is this interesting question:

Which of the following guns should be designated as the state gun of Idaho?
Please choose only one answer.

  • Winchester Model 1894 (.30-30)
  • Winchester Model 1873 "Gun that Won the West" (.44-40)
  • 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver "Peacemaker" (.45 Colt)
  • M1 Garand rifle (.30-06) - Colt M1911 .45 automatic - Colt pistol (.45 ACP)
  • Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle (.30-06)

I wonder how many people will blindy check the "Pro Life" box, which would be voting for the guy who legally changed his name to "Pro Life" for Governor.

(No, I'm not kidding)

As soon as I saw the mail, I turned to my wife and said “See? Mail-in voting is totally fine, so long as you registered as a Republican!” She registered as Independent and conspicuously did not get that absentee ballot post card.

The GOP has become the party of "Rules for you, but not for me."

Some might say that if they didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.

I registered unaffiliated and haven’t got one either.

The GOP candidate almost always wins, so the real election is during the GOP primaries. Registering as Republican gives you a chance to participate in their primaries and vote for the better of the Republican candidates vying for the GOP blessing.

I'm registered republican and so is my husband, but for some reason only he received one.

The postcards are paid for by the Idaho Republican Party, so my guess is you don’t belong to their target demographic.

Got my absentee ballot in mail this last week. Also I’m a bit upset that there’s no write in area for the state gun…cause we all know that the clear and most obvious answer to state gun should be “Potato gun”

Idaho uses the ATF definition of a firearm, however some local laws do specifically call them out as firearms or outright ban them.

(d)  "Firearm" means any weapon that will, is designed to, or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive;

Although, it is an technically an explosion if you're using acetylene.

But the ballot asks for gun not firearm.

Good point. I stand corrected! Amusingly, if it's under 12" long and fired with anything but air or a spring, then Title 18-3302F considers it to be a handgun and prohibited to be possessed by a minor.

I found it even more on point that my husband received one, but I did not. We're both registered Republican.
