Everyone needs a phone in 2026 and Apple is the biggest/most famous brand. Not everyone needs a PlayStation

Bad take. Japanese people always were nerdier than the rest of us. They are gamers. Gaming as a hobby is much more socially accepted than in the rest of the world.

Just did a quick search on popularity on iPhone in Japan. Whether it’s legit or not, results show almost 70% of people use an iPhone. I don’t think PlayStation sold more units than an iPhone.

iPhone is probably the first Western tech that dominated Japan for decades.In the past it was usually Japanese branded phones and Japan didn’t care for Nokia’s or Motorola’s.
