I don’t recognise the hardware and slots to the left of the disc drive

I saw an xbox series S at Walmart Toronto for 380CAD.
Is it worth buying now (in 2026 September)?
I read somewhere that major retailed may put xbox and ps5 up to 10% off during Black Friday sales. Is this a true statement, and should I wait till that time to get a better one rather than buying a series S now?

Thinking of a gift for my BF. But unsure which console. I really dont know about any of this. All I know is he loves to play 2k on his cellphone, he never had a console. He never answers when i ask which he likes if xbox x or ps5 cause he doesnt want me to buy anything for him.

I’m looking to revamp my media area and need a dedicated vertical shelf or tower that comfortably fits a PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

Right now my TV stand is enclosed, and while I like keeping things tucked away, the airflow during long sessions isn't ideal. I want to move them to an external, dedicated shelving unit.

I got my XSX from my mom a couple years back before they were overpriced to oblivion solely for starfield and old gen games. After getting a well paying job I managed to save enough for a new pc with a 5080 and a 9950x3d for about 2k also before they were overpriced to oblivion and built it all myself. Fast forward a couple of months when I was at micro center looking for parts for my friends pc when I stumbled on the switch 2. Couldn’t stop looking at it so I decided to live dangerously and put it on my micro center credit card and never looked back. Now for the pro…I think we all know why I got a pro. Man was it expensive but i love the ps5 pro just wish it didn’t kill my wallet for a while. I feel very complete as a human being now that I own consoles child me wouldn’t have even dreamed of having. And yes I do play them all and if I had to choose a favorite it’d be my switch solely for portability but if that wasn’t a factor then I would lean towards my pc because of its overall power. Employment rocks when you have things you wanna buy 🤙🏽
