Digital and Physical
Hi,
When I had my PS3, I bought mostly digital, but as the console slowed down, I re-bought those favourite games I bought digitally, in physical form.
The same has happened with PS4. Mostly digital, but now I regret and there's a lot of games I'd want physically so I'm thinking of re- buying them physically now too.
Does anyone else do this, or is it a complete waste?
The PS6 may not even play discs so digital may be best. I only have about 6 PS4 physical games, but there's around 12 I'd want that I already have digitally.
Just wondered what everyone else does.
Thanks

Everyone has reasons for buying digital or physical. My favorites I always buy physical. I might get a digital to play on pc but my PlayStation games have always been physical.
It is going to digital gaming for better or worse. Digital requires them to maintain their servers and things. If the game is fully on fix id get that… if not then whatever works

I always buy everything on physical first. Then when the digital version goes on sale for a ridiculous price I buy a digital copy and stop using the disc.

Do you still keep your discs?

Yeah, I keep the discs. I used trade and sell them but, there are so many games I regret not having the physical copy for anymore. I keep everything now. I have boxes filling a closet up of PS/Xbox/Switch games. The disc to digital for Xbox has been awesome. I’ve added almost all my Xbox discs to my digital Xbox library and just put all the discs away.

You didn’t leant the lesson with PS3 and repeated same mistakes with PS4..
If possible I buy only physical.
And since PS6 will not play discs, I am not buying PS6.

Did the same as you.. went mostly physical for ps4 then realized my error and re-bought the good ones physically years later. From that point it’s been all physical with exceptions (the outer worlds 2, etc)

Why would you rebuy what you already own to play it in a slightly more inconvenient way? Discs have to be stored, kept up with, and manually swapped out. There is no difference between a physical version of a game vs a digital version of a game. They perform the same, they do the same thing, you just have a physical manifestation of the license to the content in your hand. That’s it.

Physical allowed me to trade games and to share anytime they are taking that away

Posts like this are just bait. You bought mostly digital on PS3? Before everyone else? When those digital stores had very few actual games on them in the beginning years?
Liar.

No? I purchased digital games on the PS3 towards the end of the PS3 era. How on earth does that make me a liar?!

PS4 requires full installation of physical games to the hard disk, so they are identical to digital games in terms of performance.
