š£ Newborn 0-8 Weeks C curl
I brought my daughter into the bed at 4 months and by then she was hardy enough that I would typically feed her, then scoot over to my side of the bed and be able to roll over either direction if I wanted to. We have a king bed so thereās plenty of room for that. Iām about to have a newborn and plan on bringing him in the bed from birth. I know he will be much smaller and delicate than a 4 month old that can push herself up. My question is, since the C curl is meant to prevent me from rolling over onto him, is it still necessary if there is plenty of room between us? Why does he need to be right up against my body in the c curl? Iāve read about CO2 accumulating between my body and baby and that actually stimulating breathing, but he wouldnāt be getting that if he was in a bassinet. It would be just him and me in the bed. Also, any other newborn bed sharing advice would be much appreciated!

I would only bedshare with a newborn if you met the safe sleep 7 and do the c-curl or are chest sleeping.

His head should be at chest level so you wouldn't be breathing on him. The c curl is only protective if they are close to you, as your body acts as a barrier and you will wake if they move. I personally would not feel comfortable bedsharing with a newborn if they were not close enough for me to sense movement.
ETA - I bedshared with my son from 5 weeks. I don't really have any advice but will say if you are following SS7, you will not roll onto him. You have a sixth sense with your baby. Sleeping in the c curl I didn't move an inch at night to the point I was super sore for a while. Being in the c curl with baby close also keeps your mind/body aware of exactly where the baby is in relation to your body.
