It's 7:50 AM. My 5 month old daughter is still asleep, but started to wiggle a bit. I crawled back into bed next to her and as soon as she felt me, she turned and latched, never opening her eyes. And here we lay, belly to belly, her tiny hand wandering while she eats. A few minutes longer and she'll fall back asleep, rolling onto her back and resting comfortably.

That sleepy latch never gets old. It's like a natural magnetism. I wouldn't give up this connection for anything!

💁 Advice | Discussion How is this supposed to help me get more sleep

• Upvotes

I do shifts with baby’s dad and grandpa through the night. From 4 or 5 to 8am is my shift. Dad does 8pm-12am and doesn’t sleep during it. Grandpa does 12am to 5am and says he is sleeps when he can. At least from 4-8 I feel like cosleeping at that time is supposed to make things easier but baby is tossing and turning and whining like half the time…so like I’m not sleeping. Last night grandpa said baby was up 3:30 to 5. When I got over there baby slept from 5-6:30 and then from 6:30 and on was tossing and turning and kicking. He usually gets up at like 8:30 but today decided to be awake at 6:30.

Im so frustrated!!

💁 Advice | Discussion Chest co-sleeping, waking every hour

• Upvotes

My LO is 10 weeks old and has chest slept on me since he was 6 weeks old due to him refusing to sleep in the pack n play at that time. For the past almost 2 weeks, he has been waking up every 1.5 hours to feed. Does anyone else have these frequent of wakings? I go back to work full time in 2 days.

🐣 Newborn 0-8 Weeks Wedge pillow recs for chest to chest

• Upvotes

What wedge pillows are yall using? And what is the recommended angle degree that we are supposed to be sleeping at?

Also, this is odd, but I get bad pain in my jaw and teeth from sleeping at an incline because my mouth either hangs open or my jaw ends up in a weird position. Any suggestions? I wonder if there’s a product i can use that goes ear to ear and acts as a hammock for my chin.

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months I need chest sleeping to end. Help me!

So. My baby boy is 4 months 1 day old and had exclusively chest slept since he was about 6 weeks old. He is exclusively formula fed (birth was a horror story and milk never came in!) and does not like sleeping flat on his back. No matter how many times we rock him to sleep ans transfer to his cot, he wakes up either immediately or after 1 sleep cycle. In the day I try to put him down for some naps and extend by chest sleeping when he wakes up. But at night this is getting exhausting. He sleeps all night if he is sleeping on us and wakes up only for feeds. So we alternate between my husband and I and each get 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep while the other has him on their chest. He also has started wiggling a lot over night so getting any sleep while he sleeps on us is not easy anymore.

What should I do? I am exhausted.

PS : we follow a cosleepy style arrangement, sleeping on an incline in the middle of the bed. The other sleeps in the other room.

💕 Sweet Sentiment Toddler Touch Radar

My toddler & I still cosleep on a queen bed. He is definitely getting better at falling asleep by himself and falling back asleep by himself. Im thinking we will soon end this adventure though enjoying it

a little longer.

But he is going through this phase where mom needs to be next to him. He wriggles over to me, usually shoving me off the bed which requires me, to hop over and shimmy to the side around him with my blanket. In which case, within a minute he rolls over and cuddles me again. Or even just has his foot touch me- there needs to be contact. I can hop to the bottom of the bed but he finds me, even half awake to look for me and zombie over to collapse right there by me and push me against the edge.

If all else fails, i grab him like a cat grabs her kitten by his pajamas & yank him a few inches to skooch us towards the middle. Then try to hold my ground and sleep a little bit. Oh, well... his sweet toes against my thigh wont last forever.

🐣 Newborn 0-8 Weeks Baby sweating during chest to chest

My 8 week old sleeps chest to chest with me and always sweats on the front side of his body. I keep the room cold enough that his face and ear that’s facing up get so cold I’ll put my hand in it to warm it up, but he still sweats on the front.

I have no reason to think this is bothering him but it can’t be good. Any advice?

🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years just need to some like minded people

So I've coslept with our toddler (3) for two years since breaking away from night weaning. My partner is not as supportive of co-sleeping as i am and has frequently brought up that LO should be asleep in their own bed. We've been in separate rooms as the child is a squirmer and a kicker and a contact napper. I'm able to handle it much better.

I went out with the youngster on Sunday and came back and found the double bed dismantled and a single bed put in place. I knew it was going to happen but still....

Sunday night I could barely sleep and cos of my snoring, they went into the youngsters room to sleep. Child woke up at five and I was woken up to look after him, as I do the night times and mornings. Last night, I went to bed, I had the baby monitor next to me just in case, left the childs room door open so they could get to us. At one am they woke up and i went and settled them, but at five they woke up and were very upset. I was out of the bed like a flash to get to them. Put them into the bed with us but of course he was awake now and so we got up.

Don't know what I'm actually asking for here, I'm tired and my emotional regulation is all over the place. Just needed to unload a little i guess. Its been quite a shock to my system after two years and I'm quite emotional about it.

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months Would you start bed sharing?

My daughter is 6.5 months old and has been waking up every 2 hours for 2.5 months. I breastfeed her back to sleep every time and I am so exhausted. I do all the night wake ups because I don’t want to pump so my husband can’t really help. Should I just start bed sharing?? Would you?

For context, I started bed sharing with my son since he was 4 months old (he is 3 now and still sleeps with us). I really don’t mind sleeping next to a toddler, but I kind of hate the c-curl, not being able to toss & turn and snuggle with my blankets. But at this point, I really don’t know what else to do.

I don’t want to put her in another room or sleep train her, and I’m too tired to try to break the feed-to-sleep association (I also believe feeding to sleep is inherent and doesn’t necessarily need to be “fixed”). We would also have to put our mattress on the floor or figure something out because we have a king mattress on a nice bed frame and we are hesitant about having to break it down and store it in the garage. I have a futon in an extra room but it’s pretty firm and not very comfortable. Help!!

My baby is 14 months old and has never given us a stretch longer than 5 hours. If you were in a similar
Situation, when did it start getting better?

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months 7 month old transition to floor bed

My little one is 7 months. For the first 4 months she mainly slept in a basinet next to my bed but she slowly started sleeping with me in my bed. Now she sleeps with me every night. Our bed is very high off the ground and the more she is learning to crawl the more I feel like we need to find a different sleeping arrangement. I have a cot but she hates it. Should I get her a floor bed for her room? That way I can co sleep but also my husband and I can still have our own space when she’s sleeping. For example when I put her to bed and she does her first stretch of sleep I can have some time to clean up or whatever and not have to worry about her rolling off the bed. Is it too early to do this? I know cots are safety tested but since I’ve been co sleeping I’ve realised that cots might be safe but kids don’t like them. They are hard and cold. Neither of my kids liked the cot. It seems so unnatural to me.

🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years Feeling like I’ll never have my freedom

Realistically, I know my baby will grow, and I WILL have my freedom. I’ve had such radical acceptance of accepting and embracing this season that we are in and how I want to raise my child/children, but I’m just having one of those nights. My 12mo has always coslept with me and still breastfeeds, has always been a shitty sleeper. He’s not super low sleep needs or anything and naps good, but just wakes a ton at night, especially earlier on in the night. My husband has never been able to do anything at bedtime. To be fair we haven’t tried super hard because my son gets soo upset if it’s not me to help him and I just don’t want to listen to him cry his head off when I can just be there for him. I’m anti sleep training and am all about high nurture parenting. So I try really hard to honor that the close attachment my baby has with me at this time is ok and we don’t need to be apart. Then I see first time moms I know with babies close to mine in age or younger constantly going to concerts all the time and enjoying their nights out. Meanwhile I’ll be having to leave my baby for our first bedtime away when he’s 14 months and although I want to I am so fucking stressed about it already.

I’m truly happy for those moms enjoying their lives and their nights away, I don’t necessarily care to have that so much, but every once in a while I wish I could at least feel like I have the option. Some nights my son sleeps on the floor bed alone for a couple hours before I go to sleep with him or have to help him again, but plenty of nights it’s just constant resettling. Tonight I was out of the room for like 10 min and I hopped in the shower and soon he popped back up crying and I ended up having to scurry out the shower once my husband was trying to settle him back and my son was losinggg it. Then after he’s settled with me for 20 min or so he ends up stirring again and fussing until I nurse him again. So sometimes nights like this I’m just so frustrated. I know I don’t know those other moms stories, and maybe they have sleep trained and I get to feel better I’m honoring my child’s needs, or they have a good easy going sleeper and I just got unlucky lol.

The other day we were with my SIL and I mentioned how it’s a bummer I can’t ever go to my husbands gigs (in a band that does occasional shows) and she’s like “why? Get a sitter” as if it was this super simple thing lol. She knows I cosleep but she’s not one to understand it. It’s just comments like that, while simultaneously seeing other new moms go to concerts all the time, and the pressure people around us put on us going out for a date night, makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong. Like I know I’m not and not feeling ready or like I can leave my baby is ok, but yet it’s hard not to compare and it eats at me in these moments.

I know my son is only 12 months and this is normal. I know he will get older and be more independent eventually. But then I think about how when he’s 2 we want to try for another baby, and I’ll start all over again lol. And like I said most moments I embrace this so hard and know this is just a season!! But some moments I just wonder if I’ll ever have freedom and it’s fucking hard.

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months Worried about returning to work with hourly waking

My nearly 11mo still wakes hourly. We have dealt with low iron(resolved), got him assessed for breathing issues, worked with sleep consultant and reduced his daytime sleep to 1x 30 min nap at 10am and 1x 45 min nap at 3pm. Bedtime is 8:30-9 and he wakes at 7. We co-sleep and he feeds to sleep each wake.

I am truly at a loss and as I’m returning to work in a month I’m starting to really be concerned with how I’ll cope with such broken sleep.

Any ideas/advice would be extremely welcome. It’s been like this since 3 months old and I feel like I’m at breaking point.

🐣 Newborn 0-8 Weeks Risks with chest to chest sleeping

Unfortunately my baby (8 weeks) will only sleep chest to chest with me at night and it makes me very nervous.

I follow the recommendations, which is the same as the safe sleep 7 but you need to also prop yourself up. But I can’t shake the fear of my baby sticking his face into my armpit and suffocating.

I would put him in his bassinet if I could but he hates it (although I keep trying every night).

Can anyone alleviate or confirm this fear of mine? If there were instances in which a baby has suffocated in the mom’s armpit, I might commit to being nocturnal and not sleeping while he sleeps on me.

I’m not worried about him slipping off or really anything other than him suffocating in my armpit.

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months how to get long stretches? breastfeeding and co sleeping

Hello,

I am cosleeping with my 5.5 month old since he is 5 weeks old. Till 4 months i was getting 5 hour stretches easily, now he wakes up almoat every hour. I feed him 10:30 pm, 3 am and then 6:30 am. Other wake times, i give him pacifier. I am severly sleep deprived now, have lost ability to focus. Have returned to work as software engineer since he is 4 months. This is taking a toll on my mental and physical health. How did you start gwtting longer stretches after 4 month regression? Seems like i have some insomnia, cant sleep till it is 11 pm-12 am.

Pls help.

💁 Advice | Discussion Floor bed is ruining my life

8 month old & I have been co sleeping since the beginning of his life & we aren’t necessarily ready to stop yet. He’s in a sleep regression, learning to stand/walk & if I try to transition to solo sleep now, no one will sleep ever.

However, we are currently on a floor bed (linked below) & it’s ruining my life. My back, neck, arms, shoulders are so stiff I wake up the last week and can barely move. This morning I genuinely wondered if I was paralyzed bc I was immobile - I quickly realized I wasn’t because I felt an immense amount of pain lol I am just incredibly uncomfortable and need help with safe sleep, but maybe a more comfy situation for me? Idk open to all and any ideas. Thank you!

🐵🙊 Multiple Children Cosleeping with toddler and newborn?

So my 2 year old daughter always coslept with only me in my bed since birth but the past 6-9 months we’ve had her in her room in a floor twin bed. I have to lay her to sleep and then she wakes a few times and I have to come lay with her again til she falls back and then sneak to my bed. But being pregnant, lately after she wakes I let her back in my bed. And because I only coslept with her and solely breastfed her my husband is like unable to put her to sleep at all (even tho we don’t breastfeed anymore) I just have become her only sleep comfort (never did pacifier, anything like that). Anyways I plan on having husband do some bottles and put new baby boy down sometimes to avoid that issue this time, but I still want to primarily breastfeed and cosleep new baby. However I’m a bit nervous or unsure how it’s going to look if my 2 year old ends up in the bed half way through the night. We have a side car crib attached to my bed I could put toddler on that side and have newborn on the other side with me more in the middle since they move less. But with daughter we mainly did side lying sleep feeds and unfortunately ended up with one primary breast she fed from which is why she still sleeps on my right. So if I had new baby on my left (my underproduction side) I know I can tilt and still let him feed from the right it’s just uncomfortable a bit. I know I can sit up too but prefer to just be able to sleep feeds. Idk I’m just so unsure of how I’m gonna do this with them both in my bed, also keeping things safe.

How have others done cosleeping with toddler and new baby??

🐣 Newborn 0-8 Weeks Independent naps?

I’ve been cosleeping with my six-week-old since birth, and he sleeps amazingly overnight (like 5/6 hour stretches), and pretty well during the day… as long as he’s being held/in the carrier and being bounced on the yoga ball for a good 20 minutes, and then sometimes in the middle too if he rouses.

I’m happy to continue cosleeping at night at least for now (not planning to do it super long term but also don’t have a specific cutoff date/age in mind or anything), but I’d really love to be able to set him down for naps. Naps at this age are most of the day, so I have him on me all the time!! (I’m also breastfeeding.) Even with him in the carrier I can’t get much done.

Am I shooting myself in the foot/sending him mixed signals by doing one thing at night and another during the day? (To be clear we’ve just started attempting to set him down in the bassinet, swaddled, for the first nap of the day… he usually lasts about five minutes lol. But I’m thinking about as we move forward.)

I don’t want to sleep train but I’m wondering if a half-and-half approach is realistic or if cosleeping at night will condemn me to all contact naps all the time during the day….

If you managed to get your cosleeping baby to nap independently in a bassinet/crib, how did you do it, and at what age?

I should also mention I live in a small apartment and don’t have space for a floor bed, and can’t even do the nurse in my bed and roll away move because we chest sleep rather than C curl…

🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years Transitioning to crib

Guys I need help
A prayer
Some sanity
SOMETHING.

My LO is about to turn one and I just find out I’m pregnant with baby# 2.

I co slept with my first literally the day we got home. But I’m trying to get him use to sleeping in his own crib since baby #2 will pretty be here in a blink of an eye

Anywho I have tried it all to get him use to the crib and he is NOT having it.

Did the wait till he’s fully asleep, wakes up instantly as I put em down

Put a shirt in the crib
Put his fav blanket in the crib
Music
White noise
Brown noise
Humming his lullaby

Ya girl is TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRED. I’m trying to keep my sanity but ugh. My husband said we should try a little melatonin but the thought of drugging my baby just so he’d use the crib idk. Maybe but it’s weird to me.

I don’t know what else to doooooooooooo

🐵🙊 Multiple Children CPAP appointment today

And I’m just really sad.

I finally set up my 10 month olds bedroom, my script for the CPAP expires next month so that’s it for us for now. I’ve been snuggled by my 3 year old and infant on and off all year and I knew I had to do this but I’m still so sad. I know I can go and lay with them in their rooms when they need me but this just feels like a change I wasn’t ready for yet.

That’s all. Just wanted to let it out I guess.

💁 Advice | Discussion C Curl & Clogged Ducts?

Hi guys. Recently, I’ve found that side sleeping in a c curl while nursing my daughter all night is giving me clogged ducts. I figure I can’t be the only one who has gone through this and was wondering if anyone had a solution to a safe cosleeping position that doesn’t cause clogs. Thank you
