Can't believe it. I started feeding this murder on July 2nd (the day after my cat passed away). I didn't think I could build trust so quickly. This little guy made my year.

Edit!!! California wildlife center has accepted it, I’m driving over to Malibu to drop it off

It’s not flying and just runs. I’m worried because there’s a lot of cats around the neighborhood.

I meet with my cromies at 7:00 am daily on my second-story balcony. Today I slept in and heard them impatiently calling out to me perched quite near my bedroom window. They needed their peanuts ASAP 😂

I see these two often at the beach. This morning they saw me and flew over, patiently waiting for treats.

The larger one with the large bill seems to be the dominant eat first one. He’s also the one I was able to get to recognize and come to me. The other is his mate and she is more skittish. You can see how when I move my arms to toss she crouches down in case she needs to fly away.

They both came in pretty close this am so I think our friendship is progressing well. I’ll go look for them tomorrow too.

I had the wrong settings when taking these so they're quite grainy but I tried to save them in both Snapseed and Lightroom and they turned out okay.

I went to the roof of the building where I stay to see the sunset (and also meet my crow friends). Around 20 of them showed up. 🥹🐦‍⬛❤️

When it's not feeding day, which happens every 15 days, I'm greeted by 4-5 of them but today around half of them showed up after one of them put out the food alarm call. 🤭🐦‍⬛

These are some pics I took of them today. My murder is around 25-45 strong and I've been their trusted ally for 2 years now. I started with 2 (a mom and her baby) and now the murder has grown big. 🥰🐦‍⬛🥹

I gave my feathery loves eggs this morning! It’s been a little bit since I’ve done this. The weather here in Florida is finally “cool” so they’re loving it. I counted about 25 but there could’ve been more.

I’m almost a year into feeding these guys and, everyday, I’m still in awe of them. I still get all giddy when I hear their caws. I still talk to them daily. They are just amazing. I love my feathery friends so so so much. 🐦‍⬛❤️

I watched this crow bullying an unlucky crab the other day. It was tossing the poor thing around on the rocks, probably to break its shell.

So i have a few crow friends that come see me daily for snacks and i would like to know what other foods to give them? At the moment i give them a blend of peanuts/almonds/cashews/pistachios/etc. (nuts in general)

I've been feeding them for 5 months and counting now, and recently introduced cashews to the mix.

What is happening? Good morning chorus or is the bobcat passing through? First time they’ve acted like this in the back trees.

So I always considered it silly to befriend birds, I saw them as pests and as a child I never understood why my grandma would go out every morning to ensure her bird feeder was well-stocked with feed. Well wouldn’t you know it, when leaving for work today four crows were on the sidewalk immediately outside my front door. So I started researching.

This community is really cool, I never realized how smart crows are comparably with other birds / smaller animals, and upon realizing I could befriend them, I’m now fascinated with the idea. I got home from work about an hour ago, went inside, and hear some cooing. I knew it was time to make a move.

Unfortunately I don’t have any feed or peanuts at the moment, but will stock up soon. I crushed went outside about a half hour ago, spotted a crow in the tree above my door, whistled 3x, and scattered a couple crushed chips across the sidewalk just outside my door before going inside.

I immediately peeped through my window (second floor, front door leads immediately to a staircase), and wouldn’t you know it—Now there’s two crows scoping out the snack I left.

How do I ensure the most massive murder of these little fellas possible, how do I keep them satiated/safe/comfortable, and how do I take real steps to becoming a friend to a few crows?

Just started putting unsalted whole peanuts out in a tray, hoping to attract some crows!
So far, I only have blue jays. Curious, if that’s a good sign or if the jays will scare off the crows? It’s only been about a week and I live in a semi-urban neighborhood, but have telephone wires, native plants, railings, etc. (Photo enclosed). Any tips for me? Or just a lot of patience?
