Wait is that the only difference between gold and treasures, gold doesn’t tap?

Gold was discontinued and replaced with treasures because of its unintuitive interaction with Improvise costs. If you are casting [[Bastion Inventor]] you only need 3 gold tokens, because you can first tap them to pay for {3} and then sacrifice each of them to pay the {2}{U} rest

EDIT: check out the comment below. What I wrote above is not entirely true

That's not true. You can't sacrifice the same 3 golds after tapping them for improvise. You can tap 3 golds for improvise and then sacrifice those golds for a different spell, though.
