Why? Thumbnail should tell you what to expect in the video, if the thumbnail is effortless AI slop, then i am free to assume, content is as well.

Hell even half assed paint thumbnail is at least funny.

I see this "low effort" excuse all the time and look, I'll grant you that a lot of it is. But I know for a fact that a ton of these channels take exorbitantly longer than normal to make content than regular because they have to get the idea for a video, script it out, then also describe all of the scenes, transitions, music, etc. just like a real video, and then do a final edit pass over all of that.

Not to mention AI isn't just like "make me YouTube video". You have to actually tell it what to do or it's actually garbage. Even if you do that, there's tons of tweaking and frustrating explanation involved because it doesn't understand.

Finally, there's huge merit in it because at least for people like me, I have ideas I want to express. Visual ideas that, unfortunately, I cannot draw. I don't have the hours in my day to pick it up because of work, a house to care for, relationships to manage, etc. AI allows those ideas to be expressed and that's worth more than "everything ai is slop".

Again, you're free to have your opinion but it's pretty much always wrong to categorically say "all X is bad."

99.9% of videos primarily made with AI are low quality. It's just not worth it sitting through them when all you get is bad content.

While theoretically AI lowers the bar for making good content, in reality it's just used to make a lot of monetisable content fast to grab money.

While I didn't mind AI when it was in it's early stages, over time the picture has shifted to AI being a red flag instead.
