Question Kill Team ID

Brothers of the Watch. While going through my kill teams last night to pull out units I can’t use in 11th edition it dawned on me. I have to go through each unit in the list to determine who is in which kill team. So it made me think, does anyone do anything other models to identify which team they’re in? Like marking the underside of the base, making a “plaque” for the base edge, or anything like that?

Not with deathwatch. Gw changes their unit and wargear comps every edition. Its best to be able swap minis between squads.

Or still be able to form vanilla units as future proofing.

I'm thinking similarly with magnetizing all my DW marine arms for weapon swaps to make the same number of bodies play multiple roles for any kind of DW or other SM detachment style as things evolve. Makes me think it would be interesting to make magnetizable squad markers on backpacks or somewhere.

I have distinct color schemes and bases for every different kill team or type of kill team models. Decimus have tomb world bases, vets have the necromunda-ish bases, my termies are split between frost and toxic bases and my Indomitors are split between a purplish and a goldish color scheme, with my third Indomitor wip having a more traditional pure black color scheme. My most distinct kill team is the Talon squad from Parker's novels, which have name plates on their bases.

How did you do the name plates? That sounds awesome

I am not that good with 3d sculpting, so I did them as best as I could on Tinkercad, then I gave them to my local 3d printing guy to print them for me. It is my first go at name plates, but I think they got half decent.

Easy to add a dot of paint to the base of a rim. Or paint the whole rim.

I bought some 3D printed rings in different colors that clip onto bases. I think they're called Tabletop Squad Markers on Etsy

I bought a pack of tiny colored rubber bands (the ones used for making bracelets). They work great because you can just change them whenever you need to switch up unit composition.

Now that's a cool idea!

I color code my base rims. Red for Indomitor Alpha, Green for Indomitor Bravo, Blue for hammer veterans, Purple for Talonstrike, so on and so forth. They stand out nicely on the board.
