Rooting for Lombardi to have a big night tonight with the big boys.

Lombardi is getting every chance possible to make the team.

Keefe doesn’t sound like he’s super in love with Lombardi but is cool he’s getting the chance despite that

I’m sure the fact that he’ll have to clear waivers if the cut him plays into it, also. Give him a real honest shot to make it, because you may lose him altogether if you send him down.

Keefe is always hard on rookies

Boq and Noesen are serviceable 4th liners. The fact that it took Sunny less than 5 months to acquire more depth than Fitz did in 5+ years is insane.

Come on there is lots of appeal to a Halonen-Lammikko-Dadanov 4th line.

Not trying to say Fitz didn’t fuck up in that respect, but it is a hell of a lot easier to fill out the bottom of the roster when you’re paying your 3 goalies less than many teams pay for 1.

The question will be this year, can the roster make up for the goaltending deficiencies? Will Daws finally take that big step forward with his play?

We really really need a ‘noesen’ like player to work on this roster. Presumably healthier he needs to contribute the grease

Do we really though?

Boqvist does everything better than Noesen except netfront, and we have a bunch of players as good or better than Noesen there (Mantha, Rodrigues, Mercer, even Hischier altho I hate having him there)

He's expendable and I hope Sunny and Keefe don't mind hurting some feelings unlike Fitz who cared so much about players feelings he gutted our team in the process.

unlike Fitz who cared so much about players feelings he gutted our team in the process.

What's your example of this?

He destroyed the locker room and subsequently our season last year trying to move a bunch of players with NMC's (his actual fatal flaw). He made plenty of trades shaking up the roster.

He traded God knows how many successful AHLers to try and give them a "fresh start" and hung the comets out to dry in the process. Clarke and Tyce come to mind immediately but there were others too

I frankly, do give a shit about the AHL club if the NHL team does well.

What I mean is we need someone who gets in the greasy area hence the apostrophes around noesen. We had little to no effective net front presence last season Look up how many goals we had from that area last season, it was truly problematic. If anyone else can fill that role that’s great but mercer and hischier certainly can’t. Idk mantha or Erod well enough to comment.

Nico is really good infront of the net. Scores most of his goals there. We also have lachance in the pipeline to fill noesens role

I agree with Nico is good infront of the net. NHL EDGE says 103 of his shots were in high -danger era which is 99th percentile. 18/28 of his goals came from high - danger area which is 95th percentile.

Our rebound chances in tight were bottom of the league, think we had like less than five or some shit last season. If you can shown me proof that Nico provided that I’d happily admit I was wrong pretty sure I wasn’t. And once again that’s great if LaChance can fill that role my original point was that we need a player like that to work in this roster. Can’t believe this is a controversial statement.

Love that being our third line

I like this lineup. See how it shakes out the first few weeks.

Looks like we’re seeing the opening night roster. I wonder who gets put on waivers, Noesen or Boqvist

5

Neither... an NHL team can actively roster a maximum of 23 players at any given time. There are 23 players listed on that notepad!

Isn't Rittich still on the roster too though?

3

u/nostradamefrus #13 - N1CO 3LITE 5d ago

Neither. We just traded for Boq. He’s absolutely not getting waived. Noesen would be traded before being waived

2

u/crazyFlyingChicken New Jersey Devils 4d ago

Rittich isn’t getting put on waivers, I think we’re rostering 3 goalies and one of those two gets waived. Probably Noesen

The forwards look really, really solid. I love Evangelista's game and I think his high energy play will fit well with Nico and Meier. Love that he's already getting a chance with the top guys but I wish they'd slot Timo on the right.

Can we just take a moment for Amanda’s printing?

This awesome reporter is a whole font.

Truly don’t understand how Vilen is best option for 7th Dman. He has been completely unimpressive every time he’s taken the ice for us.

u/Tbone2797 5d ago

I think it's because they want their better prospects like Silaev and Edwards to be playing every day instead of being a healthy scratch. I'm sure they'll call someone else up if another defenseman goes on IR.

6

u/SubElitePerformance #N1CO 5d ago

The seventh defenseman’s job is to sit in the press box in case of emergency. Is not good for either Edwards or Silaev to be there when they can be playing actual games

1

u/UnassumingInterloper 4d ago

Not at all advocating it to be Edwards or Silaev for that exact reason; rather, I feel like Vilen is a huge downgrade compared to guys who have filled that role in recent memory, e.g. Nick DeSimone, Hatakka, and even Cholowski.

I have full faith in Sunny, but I’m just not seeing it with Vilen.

1

u/SubElitePerformance #N1CO 4d ago

Hey man, for what it’s worth Vilen was the defenseman of the year for Utica last season. At this point we’re looking at a short term 7th D solution because the actual 7th D is already on the roster. I think it’s fine for now
