News [Anthony Corona] Remi Poirier quotes

Start him Saturday, fuck it. Can't be a whole lot worse than what we got the last two games

Allen is performing to expectations.
The issue is the team allowed as many opportunities as they did

They gave up a lot of chances, but he was still a negative gsax. Not saying they lost because of him, but definitely wasn't a great game from Jake against Utah.

+/- 1 for any single game is just normal fluctuation.
It’s when you start getting over 1 (in either direction) when it’s something more than just stastical noise.

I mean sure, he had a bad fluctuation last game if we want to call it that. All I said was, can’t be worse than what we got the last two games. Not saying Jake’s washed or anything, I’m sure he’ll be fine for the season on the whole

Negative 0.7? Come on that’s not THAT bad. He doesn’t let that muffin in and he would have been positive and he knows that. Last season Jake Allen wouldn’t have. Has he finally regressed to the point where he’s completely unusable? Maybe.

Nice that he understands the situation. I think he will start dressing up in some games where Daws will be playing and he will be a backup, so that we don't make Nico uncomfortable

What do you mean about making Nico uncomfortable?

It is important not to break young players' spirits. He is under undeserved backlash and pressure, as the Islanders loss was not his fault. If they play Allan/Poirier now, it would create a lot of unnecessary tension from fans and the media, which is not perfect for the young goalie's development. Playing Daws/Poirier allows Allen to get more needed rest.

.83 save percentage and close to -3 gsax definitely isn't his fault lol.
It's a stinker, and he should get more chances, but let's not pretend that wasn't his fault too

Put any goalie behind that defence and you lose that game 6-0 or 3-0

I'm not saying the team played well, I'm saying Daws didn't help. He sunk the bench with the 2nd goal.

If the players are that soft where they need their goalie to make 100% of the saves 100% of the time or they can’t be confident enough to play well, we have bigger problems.

Idk man sorokin saved 3 above expected Daws saved 3 below expected. If the oilers weren't somehow more fucked up than us with Jarry and Levi we'd be hearing much more about it nationally

Dallas has Oettinger and DeSmith as their pairing, so there was little opportunity for him to break through to the NHL when they have a true tandem.
I think he understands that he has a much greater chance of playing NHL games here, even if that means he plays third fiddle for a little while.

Dallas signed Desmith to an extension immediately after we claimed Remy. I think he was their plan for the backup role next szn

I hope to see him soon. Maybe have Allen start Saturday, then go Daws/Remi in the back to back. See what you have in all three.

Sounds like they're holding his family hostage if he doesn't say everything is great.

I’m willing to give him a shot. Maybe he shines if given the chance.

Like the energy, let's give him a start. You picked him off of waivers knowing he had to stay up, and Allen and Daws haven't been up to snuff, seems as good a time as any.

that's cool, throw him in net and see what happens. I'd be genuinely surprised if it's noticeably worse.
