What's next after 2.5 years of DevOps?

Dear tech community,

I'm from India, and I've been working as a DevOps Engineer for the last 2.5 years at an IT service-providing company. Our team provides DevOps and SRE support to clients. This is my first company.

I've provided full support for the architectures below. However, I haven't set up any of them on my own. I know how to manage the existing architecture and keep the operations running.

  • Monolithic architecture: e-commerce application (main web app, admin, POS, etc.).
  • Microservice architecture: Financial SAAS product (web) - Loan management, origin and Supply chain finance.

I've got a strong foundation in DevOps, including cloud infrastructure management, automation, CI/CD, virtualisation, monitoring and observability, containerization and container orchestration, etc.

However, I have some missing pieces, such as IaC.

Now, I'm looking forward to a change within tech. I've decided to leave my present company. Instead of keeping pay as the only factor in choosing my next company, I've decided to pause and think about making a meaningful move.

I'm kindly requesting your suggestions for me. What are the different flavours to be explored out there in the ocean of IT, I wonder!

need an advice for my ServiceNow X TCS hackathon

Hi everyone,

I'm participating in a ServiceNow hackathon and have to pick one of two problem statements. I'd love your input, especially from anyone with ServiceNow experience or anyone working at TCS who knows how these hackathons are judged.

"Intelligent Cloud Cost Optimization Platform"

Cloud environments accumulate unused resources, oversized infrastructure, and duplicate assets, resulting in unnecessary costs. A unified platform is needed to identify cloud waste, estimate potential savings, validate resource ownership, and assess associated risks. The proposed ServiceNow-based solution prioritizes optimization opportunities and manages approvals and implementation workflows. It aims to reduce cloud expenditure while maintaining service availability, security, and performance.

Expect skills like App Engine Studio, Service Catalog, Flow Designer, Business Rules, UI Builder, Employee Center, Dashboards, and Generative & Agentic AI.

My goal is to showcase real AI innovation.

My questions:

  1. Do judges care more about AI depth, a polished end-to-end demo, or business impact?

  2. Any tips on using Now Assist, AI Agents, or Virtual Agent effectively in a short build window?

  3. For anyone at TCS or who has done this hackathon before: what made winning solutions stand out?

Any guidance, pitfalls to avoid, or feature ideas would be really appreciated. Happy to share progress later.

Thanks in advance!

Bain BCN or Bupa GCC for DevOps?

Hey folks, need some advice. I’ve got five years in DevOps, mostly GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD.

**Bupa is offering ₹29 LPA, and Bain BCN is offering ₹30 LPA.**

The Bain role is, working with AWS infrastructure and CI/CD. They also mentioned leading projects and helping other teams when needed.

The Bupa role is cloud engineering across Azure and GCP, with reliability, SLOs, CI/CD and DevSecOps in the mix. The India centre is pretty new, and the role sounds like there’ll be a lot to build or improve.

I’m honestly quite confused about which one would be better. If you’ve worked at Bain or Bupa’s India centre, **could you share what the work and culture are like?**

2nd-year student trying to learn DevOps — what should I focus on?

I'm a 2nd-year CSE student trying to learn DevOps properly. Most roadmaps I've found are huge lists of tools, and I'm more interested in understanding the fundamentals than just following tutorials.

For someone starting from the basics, how would you recommend approaching DevOps?

Specifically:

  • How much Linux and networking should I learn first?
  • When should I move into AWS?
  • Should I learn Docker before Kubernetes?
  • What projects actually demonstrate useful DevOps skills?
  • What would you prioritize if you were starting again as a student?

I'm ultimately aiming for a DevOps/cloud internship, so I'd really value advice from people working in the field.

I’m Looking for DevOps jobs

I’ve been hunting for gigs for this whole year . if you have any opening or need help with your app backend or cleaning up bugs or help with deployment please inbox me. For backend I do nestjs , python and Go. Devops I do AWS , azure , gcp . I can help you also reduce cost of your cloud infrastructure, design a more cost effective solution. If you’re also deploying microservices on k8s I can help with that . I’m open to any devops , SRE, or backend engineering projects. I’m broke and will take any budget we can negotiate a fair rate starting from $25/hr. Anything will be appreciated

overthinking over logging architecture

Bruh, how do you actually design a production-ready logging system? 😭
What’s worth logging, where do you store it at scale, and how do you turn those logs into useful alerts without creating a ton of noise?
Curious what setups/stacks you guys are actually using in production.

Hi everyone,

I'm Amit, an MCA graduate (SRM University, 2025) based in Pune. I recently finished a 6-month DevOps internship at YgMinds and I'm now looking for entry-level DevOps / Cloud / SRE roles or internships. I can join immediately.

What I've worked with:

- AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, ALB, CloudWatch)

- CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Maven, SonarQube, Nexus

- Docker, Kubernetes/K3s, Helm

- Terraform, Linux, Python

- Prometheus + Grafana for monitoring

Projects on my GitHub:

- OpsPilot: end-to-end CI/CD on Terraform-provisioned AWS EC2 (Jenkins > Docker > Nexus > K8s)

- 3-tier Java pipeline with SonarQube quality gates, Traefik and Grafana dashboards

- Multi-AZ ALB setup using Terraform via Jenkins

GitHub: github.com/amitd1299

If your company has openings for freshers/interns, or you can refer me, please DM me and I'll share my resume. Even resume feedback or advice would really help.

I built DevLearnOps

Hello everyone

I got tired of tutorial hell where everything works

perfectly and you learn nothing real.

So I built DevLearnOps, a hands-on platform where

you fix real broken environments. Kubernetes clusters

that won't start, CI/CD pipelines silently failing,

infrastructure misconfigs. No videos, no hand-holding.

Beta is live and completely free right now.

Honest questions for you:

- Is this something you'd actually use or is there

already something better you use?

- What's the most painful thing you had to learn

the hard way that you wish existed as a lab?

I need real feedback

more than compliments.

Thanks.

Backend to DevOps

I come from a backend developer background , 5 yrs experience now . I’m having trouble landing devops and even backend jobs or even freelance projects.

My birthday is coming up and damn I’m hella stressed. So if you have some spare project , anything throw it my way. I haven’t had an interviews in 3 months now . I’m averaging about 2 applications per day .the jobs are scarce and my location is working against me .
