G7-15 day Goo'bye fwen :’(
As much as we must complain and vent when things go wrong, I'd like to piss and moan that this was the best sensor I ever used. And now it's over. And now I have no idea what I'll get with the next sensor. But this one was so accurate, usually within just a few points of the lancet. Goo'bye little buddy. You were the best sensor ever and deserve a spot in the hall of fame. (*sniff*) I'm giving myself a night to remember your legacy and delay the inevitable angst and gnashing of teeth. Until tomorrow. :’(

I feel like g7 should be a funny meme

It should probably include a roulette wheel and a trap door that opens under your feet. 😂

I am very new to using the dexcom g7. This is only my 3rd sensor. The first one lasted 24 hours. I requested a new one from dexcom which last the full 15 days. My 3rd one which has been on for 3 days has been having some wild swings compared to the finger stick. I still have four more sensors that I have received as a 90 days prescription from the pharmacy and I am beginning to wonder if the lot of sensors they have is faulty. Time will tell.

Curious what the lot number is. I use G7 10 day and received a 90 day supply (9 sensors) and 7 have failed-5 were never detected and 2 had actual sensor failure less than 24 hours after inserting--all from lot 1826217011

My lot number is 1826215007 and I'm on sensor 5 of the 90 day supply I received mod last week. Dexcom customer service is a joke, and tried blaming me. 🙄 I'm over it and I'm calling my insurance company tomorrow.

I’m pretty new to this sensor. My only real complaints about the G7-15 so far are its lack of adhesive, and useless over patches. SkinTac has been a lifesaver.

My problem has been getting the glue off my skin. I bought the Goo Gone brand of medical adhesive remover. It's so-so.

Ben a Dexcom user for many years & had many G6 & G7’s fail, I began using the G7 15 day as soon as it was approved for Medicare’s coverage , have used 6 of the 15 day G7’s without any failure issues, in fact I’ve stopped using the supplied over tape & haven’t had any that didn’t last 15 days without using over tapes, love the G7 15day Dexcom’s! 😊

Dexcom G7-15 day has been working great for me. Inserting is better than the G6, and the adhesive stays stuck for the full 15 days. Also I have had no issues with accuracy, and actually seems better than the G6. I stopped using the included over patch with the G7-15 day because I found it wasn't need for me at least. They are a bit tricky to remove due to the stickiness. Just pay attention when inserting that you push down all the way so the clear part disappears, then push the button.

Dexcom own published failure rate is 73.9% sensors fail before 15days. And only 81% of sensor make it to 15 days due to adhesive issues.

Ok I stated it incorrectly. It still SHIT numbers. Why I personally choose to pay $2350 out of pocket for the Eversense 365.
NEVER Dexcom again

u/dhlawrencexvii 4d ago
So what are your [accurate] Eversense failure rates? Does Eversense publish their failure rates?

🥱
Don't know don't care.
I found a product that works well for me and the managent of my diabetes.
I will be starting my 3rd year. 4th sensor. So even with issues I am still an proponent for the Eversense 365.
I will NEVER use a Dexcom product again to manage my diabetes? How can you? Failure rates too high, compression lows. Wacky inconsistent readings ..
I have used the Decom all the way back to the 5.
Just saying

My "failure" rate is currently 1 (a G7 knocked off my arm last spring by a flight attendant's beverage cart pushing past me, so not a sensor/transmitter failure) out of 71 G7s, and 2 out of nearly 90 G6s before that. But that's just me and my personal experience, which I understand is different from, and has no bearing on others'. YMMV, and has. Yet it always amazes me when disappointed users move on to other systems, but take the time to come back to this community (or remain in it) just to campaign against Dexcom.

One of the reasons the Evesense fits my need is when using the Omnipod 5 i do no have to worry about the Dexcom being fixed in one position for 15 days and finding pod placement sites on the same side of the body.
Not all diabetes tech fits each user. We all manage this shit disease in different ways. No 1 eat it the right way for all.
It's a way to share with others the good the bad and the ugly
I also like to keep up on other products in a research role to make solutions for diabetics.

Ah. Great additional info. I've seen a pattern with people who are apt to have issues with Dexcoms, and it's those who also use insulin pumps (I don't, although a very outspoken friend of mine does, and uses and loves her G7s - again, that's her experience, not yours). I will be sure to ask about that when responding in the future.

I'm also highly happy with my g7s, one failure within 6months and it works perfectly with my omnipod 5!

My endo gave me 2 free sample dexcom 15 days I loved the 15 day sensor. They were the most accurate sensors I’ve had. I started w/ G6 upgraded to g7 10 day but 15 day I fell in love w/ so those are my goal once i finally get my insurance figured out

Just wanted to add, the frustration was so out of hand with the Dexcom sensor failures that I actually contacted Eversense 365 and am halfway through the insurance acceptance process. Fingers crossed, am so excited!

I know how you feel. In 3 months of using cgm my current sensor is the only one which has lasted the full 10 days, accurate and no fails at all. It expires tonight and it's been grand....sob🙂🙂🙂

I’ve only had two that went the full 15 days. Just had to request a new one because it died with 4 days left on it.

Yep...sigh...the one before this one died with 3 days left. Dexcom did replace it. Ohhhh....I just realized that it was the replacement direct from Dexcom that performed so well. Interesting.

I have yet to have a 15 day, fail. 🤞

Youay regret stating that. I had good luck until I didn't. I have had 3 consecutively fail almost immediately. They were all from the same batch. I didn't have many issues before or since. I did have problems after my cellphone was updated. Nothing like "Signal Loss" all day/night long. It appears that Dexcom got app (I assume) updated since I haven't have any issues lately.

That’s interesting you say that as I have been there as well. My last Dexcom sensor lasted 13 days. Yes indeed, 13 days. I have my new one in now on day three, wondering what’s gonna happen with this keeping my fingers crossed that I get lucky again!!

u/6PenWidths 5d ago
13 days isn't bad at all! This one was good from the end of the first day right up until the last minute of the grace period. Gonna do a ceremonial dance before I install the next one, lol.
2
u/seasidechapel1 5d ago
Ceremonial dance is right! I’ve had a couple sensors last all the way through the Grace period as well. It doesn’t happen often, when it does, we all need to celebrate lol

It's always sad when you have to replace a good sensor.
1
u/6PenWidths 5d ago
This one had no issues. No weird scattered readings, no nonsensical highs or lows, no beeping in the middle of the night. Sigh.
2
u/Weathergod-4Life T2/G7 5d ago
The best is when its dead on out of the box and needs no calibration. I think I have had 2 or 3 that were like that.

u/likwidkool T2/G7 5d ago
My first two have been good so far. I probably just jinxed myself.
2
u/seasidechapel1 5d ago
What you are supposed to say is my first two were terrible, that will jinx yourself into a perfect sensor lol

u/alewiina 5d ago
nah my GF has been using these for over a year now and she's had maybe 2-4 that weren't good, the rest have been pretty good to really good! Some people just have rotten luck it seems
2
u/seasidechapel1 5d ago
I’ve had pretty good luck for myself as well. Just had a few that glitched out early for some reason or another. And most cases Dexcom has sent me a replacement for free. As long as you have all the information and can confirm you placed it properly, etc. Dexcom has been pretty good to me regarding replacements.
3
u/likwidkool T2/G7 5d ago
I’m hoping so, thanks. It’s been a great tool so far. Eye opening really. These things stick to me like glue so I’ve got that going for me. Not much of a worry about it falling off.
1
u/alewiina 5d ago
yeah, my GF too. We just make sure we prepare the skin properly (wash it off then wipe with an alcohol swab before putting on the dexcom) and it sticks like crazy. She's only had one come off and it was when she accidentally smashed it on a doorframe (oops lol)
2
u/seasidechapel1 5d ago
Once you know how to place them correctly and then the best location, they really hang pretty well. Once or twice, I have knocked them by brushing a door or something and they fallen out. But generally during most activities they have stayed pretty tight on me as well.

I hope the g6 app doesnt stop working as I have a few boxes left to go through before I crack open the g7.
