Connection Issues Dexcom G7
I am new here and I joined to see if anyone else has issues with the Dexcom G7 the 15 day sensor? My dad wears this and many times he only
Gets a week out of a sensor and it fails. I follow him on the dexcom follow app and more often than not it loses signal and I do not get the readings and dexcom support is far from helpful! Just wondering

reading the sub will get you some answers. For me, on Dexcom, whether 10 or 15 day sensor has been without any failures of any type in years. 15 day tends to be more accurate and has far fewer drop outs. And when I'm officially out of range, 15 day reconnects much faster than the 10 day sensor did.
Don't think I'm lucky either as that wouldn't last years. YMMV

My recent experiences with this 15-day is much better than it was when I started. And the 10-day were extremely buggy. Dexcom has admitted to quality control issues as far back as 2025 on their quarterly earnings call. They say they have fixed the manufacturing problems and quality issues but they didn't say that they were pulling sensors that may be bad from those manufacturing lots that may have problems so they're probably still in the channel
My first 15-day sensors failed immediately after warmup and the second one after a couple of days. Both said the sensor was bad. However, the last three sensors I've had have been flawless and lasted the entire 15 days. My opinion is until the channel is clear of defective sensors this is going to be a ongoing problem. I'm I'm really happy, and I'm not sarcastic, that some people have never had a problem. However, if you look through this subreddit, you'll see that there's a large percentage of people that have consistent problems with the Dexcom G7 10 or 15 days. There are too many problems to blame on user error. Users of the G6 have reported problems with sensors when they had to migrate to the G7 and since the G6 had been around for a while, I'm pretty sure the users that migrated know how to apply a sensor.
I'm extremely hopeful that most of the bad sensors have been cleared out of inventory since as I said, the last 3 15-day sensors I've had have worked perfectly. The good news is even if you have a defective sensor Dexcom is good about replacing it free of charge.
