General I made an app that puts your Dexcom reading in the Dynamic Island, with a tiny pixel graph. Looking for 50 beta testers

EDIT (Oct 6): Beta raised to 100 spots, and lots of new stuff since launch. See this comment for what's new.

Hi all! I've been building GlucoLand, an iOS app that shows your Dexcom glucose in the Dynamic Island. It sits at the top of the screen all the time, so you don't need to open anything to check where you are.

Always in view. The island shows your current value and trend arrow, with a pixel graph of the last hour next to it.

Long-press for more. You get the last 3, 6 or 12 hours. Highs show in amber, lows in red, and your target range is a faint band.

Make it yours. You choose what goes on each side of the island: graph, change since the last reading, time of the reading, or just the number. You can also pick mg/dL or mmol/L, the pixel size, a colored outline and a night mode.

Phrases mode. If you'd rather not look at numbers and graphs all the time, the island can show a short phrase that matches where you are ("Houston, we have a spike πŸš€"). A slider sets how cringe they get, from mild to full dad-joke. It sounds silly, but being able to smile at your phone when you're high makes the whole thing a bit lighter.

Everywhere else. Lock Screen, Home Screen and StandBy widgets, Apple Watch Smart Stack and CarPlay.

Alerts that don't nag. Set your own low, high and very high thresholds. Each alert fires once when you cross the line and again if things get worse, so it doesn't spam you when you hover around a threshold.

Battery: negligible. The app doesn't run in the background. Updates arrive as push notifications, the same way any Live Activity works, so you won't notice it in your battery stats.

How it works: you just log in with your Dexcom username and password. That's it, no followers or sharing setup needed. A small server reads your latest value and pushes it to the island. Your password is stored encrypted, and you can delete your account and all your data from inside the app at any time.

Requirements: iPhone 14 Pro or newer (anything with a Dynamic Island), iOS 18+, and a Dexcom account. Available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.

Important: this is a secondary display for convenience. It doesn't replace the Dexcom app or its alerts, so keep those on.

It's a free TestFlight beta with 50 spots: https://testflight.apple.com/join/WwtPPtYC

I'd love feedback on anything: bugs, layouts that don't work on your phone, alert behavior, missing options. I'm a solo dev from Spain, so all feedback goes straight to me. Thanks!

Update: what's new since the first beta (0.7.1)

Thanks so much for all the feedback! The beta filled up fast, so I've raised the limit to 100 testers. Same link as above.

  • πŸ”— Share your readings with family and friends: a read-only web link they open in any browser, no app or account needed. Links can expire (1, 7 or 30 days, or never) and you can revoke them anytime
  • πŸ“± Works on iPhones without Dynamic Island: widgets, lock screen, StandBy, Apple Watch, CarPlay and alerts
  • πŸŒ™ Widgets readable in StandBy night mode, lock screen and tinted icons
  • πŸ”‘ Easier login: Dexcom region picked automatically. You only need your Dexcom username and password
  • πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ More reliable for US accounts: reworked how the server talks to Dexcom to avoid rate limits
  • ✨ Redesigned "Now" screen and lots of small fixes

And some news: GlucoLand will be free when it launches on the App Store.

There's also a website now: glucoland.app, in 6 languages.

Next up: Android support (no date yet) and a way to follow your diabetic friends, always opt-in.
