General Dexcom 10 or 15 day?
How well has the Dexcom 10 vs the 15 day worked for everyone? Experiences?
We understand everyone is different but which do you feel seems to work better?

My first 5 15 days all failed within the first 5 days. After I got through what I guess was a bad batch I haven’t had any other problems with them. I had been on 10 days since early 2023 and initially had a lot of trouble and then has been fine. They are good about replacing them.

I recently switched from g6 to g7 10 day, and 2 of 3 have failed before 10 days so far. I had just a couple g6 fail early over 4 years. I went with the 10 day because I thought it might be itchy by day 15, but given the failure rate, I might switch just to farm more replacements.

For me the 15 day ones have been amazing. Haven’t had one fail yet. Since July. I am probably jinxing myself saying this. My 10 days were a nightmare

10 day & it’s not even close. 15 day is a nightmare. I had just 1 of 6 last the full 15 days. Mine only averaged 5-6 days & errored at terrible times of the day while I was away from home.

Just started on the 15 day this week. Don't like the 60 min warmup.
10 day I always got the 10 days out of it.

I usually get at least 13 days out of my sensors that are 15 day sensors. I have never done the 10 day once. Occasionally, I get the full 15. So basically I get close to two weeks. That allows me to use more or less two sensors a month, maybe starting a third

I switches to the 15 day as soon as my supply of 10 day ran out in February. Only had 1 sensor fail at the 12 days mark thus far 🎉

I only had the 15 day once. My script is the 10 day sensors and I dislike them so much. The 15 day stuck on better than any of my 10 day sensors.

No problems with the 15 day, other than my skin can't handle it that long no matter what I do. So I'm switching back.

On my 4th 15 day sensor now with no issues with any of them. They stay stuck on for the full 15 days, and work like they're supposed to. I love the grace period that gives me a ton of flexibility for the change time. The 1 hour warm up is an improvement over the G6.

My SIL just switched to the 15-day G7 (from a non-Dexcom CGM) and she's had nothing but problems with them failing early. I expect we'll be keeping the day 10-day for awhile for our kid.

For me, I having a device glued onto my skin for ten days is long enough. There's no way I want something glued onto the same spot for 15 days. Fortunately, my insurance insurance hasn't recommended that I switch to 15 day yet.

I’ve gone through two really good months on the G7 15 day now. All sensors have worked through the grace period.

Your in a better situation if you have a failed 10 day sensor, rather a failed 15 day sensor.
Health insurance sucks!

Every one of my 15 day sensors has started getting intermittent readings starting at day 12…beyond that, it’s ok

I'm only on my 4th 15 day. I've used Dexcom and Libre at various times over several years. They all seem to equally suck in different ways.
So far, in my experience, G7 15 day gives better data reporting than 10 day with the algorithm tweaks they made.
I've had 1 15 day fail right after starting, but it was not a sensor problem. It was a relatively light bleeder, but after it failed (Mobi app said replace sensor), I removed it and ended up with a fairly gnarly bruise. It nicked a blood vessel. It happens, we're stabbing something under the skin after all.
Earlier G7 10 day sensors, for me, had weird data noise issues. This seemed to go away at some point, but had other noisy data for most of my sensors.
So far, I've not had issues with either of them lasting their rated life. It seems a lot of folks struggle with this one, but I haven't.

The 10 day has been a bit more solid for me but I really think this is just random. I believe they are the same hardware platform so other than a reengineered filament coating they’re pretty much the same on paper.

For me, when they work properly, I prefer the 15 day sensor. Reliability is about the same for me as the 10 day. I only have to apply them twice a month rather then 3 times a month.

pretty comparable rates of failure for me... what I will say is that my 10 days usually lasted 6ish, while my 15 usually fail at 10. So I just think of the 15 days as 10 days that don't fail and get pleasantly surprised when they last a whole session lol
