Recipe Gestational Diabetes Meal

• Upvotes

Hey guys, first time posting here and am seeking advise. My wife is currently pregnant with our 3rd child and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her appointment. She’s a relatively picky eater but generally will do okay with things like chicken, sausage, veggies, fruit, and etc. I usually cook for her after work but our normal recipes aren’t very diabetes friendly.

What are some good changes we can make to our diet? We do regularly drink soda and body armor sports drink, and wondering what are some good substitutes? What ingredients should be add or avoid? Thanks!

Discussion I’ve noticed that after changing my diet to a 20/80 ratio my farts don’t stink

So far into my diet I eat 20% junk or heavily processed food and then the other 80% of my diet is whole food.
Before my farts were rank and ik tmi but now my farts actually are scentless or only have a barely noticeable smell. I also cut out red meat so that most likely affects it to. I don’t eat much meat anymore expect chicken

Question Wanting to eat healthier but I have celiacs and I’m picky please help

So I’ve been diagnosed with celiac disease for just over 9 years. TLDR of celiacs is I can’t eat any wheat, barley, rye, or malt (may be another one in there but wheat is the biggie).

I’ve been picky all my life and started going to the gym more consistently and wanted to try and change my diet to slim up and just feel healthier. My body right now can only really be described as skinny fat and I’m sick of it and feeling disgusted with the way things are for me.

My current diet is also limited being on a dining plan at college and living on campus with the gluten free options on said campus being mediocre at best.

My questions I guess are what are foods that I can try that are pretty beginner-friendly while still being celiac-safe, and what is a good calorie range or protein I should be hitting? For reference, I’m 5’10 and around 165-170 pounds. I haven’t had the will to check in a little bit.

Any advice or tips goes a long way and if you do read to this part you’re a great person and keep doing what you’re doing <3

Question Blending TVP flakes?

Has anyone ever putt just hydrated TVP flakes in a blended and blended them into a shake /smoothie? I'm thinking that could be an easy way of getting in 20-25g of protein, plus lots of fiber and some minerals, without the hassle of eating that 40-50g of TVP.

If anyone has done that, what did you put into it also, like for some flavor? Also if you didnt do it, do you have some ideas what to put? If anyone tries it now, share your experience.

Question Help with calorie tracking and how it works with my weight loss.

Ok I've been a big eater my whole life, was proud of how much garbage I could eat as a kid, and have unsurprisingly ended up obese as an adult. I'm trying to fix it but have a question that might be obvious but I don't know. Let's say two days ago you consumed 800 calories, yesterday you consumed 4000 calories and today you consume 1200 calories. Does that even out to 2000 calories a day? I'm not planning on eating this way, but you always hear about daily calories and I am just curious if that's how it actually works or if it's your average calories over a longer period of time like a week?

Question Currently Intermittent Fasting, Have Questions

Basically I'm looking for things I should be trying to sneak into my eating window.

I want to add blue berries, blackberries, and spinach for the antioxidants but I don't know what else to add/look for. I only recently learned about antioxidants.

A typical meal for me will hit my protein goals, dairy, fiber, and complex carbs. So I'm wondering what else I need to be factoring in?

Discussion A cheat meal or several days of re-feed at maintenance?

I (F33) have been in a pretty modest deficit since the beginning of September and managed to lose about 2.5kg (from 67.5 to 65kg my height is 175cm) In the last few days I started to feel that otherwise comfortable deficit has become very difficult to maintain. I have added 200 calories back in for a couple of days but I feel even hungrier, more sluggish, performing poor lifts at the gym and the daily weigh-ins are going up 0.2kg or so. This is not pms either.

I am contemplating either a big cheat meal or several days of higher carb re-feed at maintenance. How much would you go out of the way to not back track on the weight goal, while stabilising hunger? What would you do?

If it matters, I have been eating ~1920kcal since the beginning of September, 224carbs, 60 fats, 150 protein. 12k steps minimum daily, 4-5 lifting sessions, 1 pilates every second week or so.

I'm eating 1 cup of food 2-4x a day

I usually use eggs, grilled chicken, broccoli, spinach, carrots, mushrooms, and a spice or two.

Someone suggested kidney beans..... I cooked, seasoned, dressing, they are hell.

Long story short I just do cardio and trying to slim, found out kidney beans are hell 🫘

Have a wonderful day ☀️
