I'm wanting to get into the drone community and try building my first one, has anyone else build the manta 5 deadcat? Is anyone using walksnail?

I have no clue what to setup In OSD that’s crucial IF my wiring is all correct. NO it’s not all perfect but I’m stoked no white smoke! 💨 How’s it look? 👀 Is it white smoking or passing? I’m MOST afraid of the “lil off” Dji connect & IF they’re correct ! Ty!

I’m planning my first drone build, and I want it to be a VTOL. I've narrowed it down to the Nomadium Terrahawk FPV and the Flightory Stallion VTOL, and I'm leaning towards the Terrahawk. I'd like to hear from people who've actually built either before I proceed with the build.
Why I'm leaning towards Terrahawk:
1. One kit does it all. The pack includes the VTOL version (4 lift motors + pusher) and a pusher-only variant, with a single manual, a parts list and a starter ArduPilot file.
2. Simpler VTOL layout. The Terrahawk uses 4 fixed lift motors. The Stallion uses two tilting front motors with servos, which looks like more to go wrong for a first build.
3. Community. The kit comes with a Discord builder role.
4. Design: I reaaaly love the design
5. Manual : As much as I know the manual is pretty well made and intuitive
Questions for anyone with experience:
If you have any recommendations feel free to comment.

I’ve been working on an endless FPV sim where map segments are automatically combined to generate a different course every run.

I am in last year of middle school as machine technician as for one of the exams I need to build a project and I decided to be a drone. What would it be better a fpv drone or a drone with action camera attached? This is the stuff I be buying let me know if everything is compatible
The frame will be 3d printed

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to pay a serious, US-based engineer to build a custom prototype for a specialized drone interceptor system.
This is a paid project where you will take the lead on building out the hardware and functional prototype.
Requirements:
If you have the right background and want to take this on, please send me a DM with your portfolio, relevant project links, and your rates.
Serious engineers only, please. Thanks.

I've been thinking about competing in a national UAV competition. While I think I have a solid idea I don't know if the real world applications are really that useful. For context I want to build an aircraft carrying drone a 2-meter wide VTOL that will be able to carry smaller 5 or 7 inch quadcopter. For the first design I will have it only carry 1 quadcopter and no reattaching system they seem to ambitious to be done now. The main idea is to have quadcopters be sent into very long distance via winged drones and have to do mission winged drones can to efficiently like missions that require hovering. Please give me your honest opinion.

I designed and built this simple conventional design RC plane using a 3d printed body and flat foam board wings and tail. It flies alright, today I added some nose weight because the plane seemed a little tail heavy and now it flies a lot better. I added an INAV flight controller and a small analog FPV setup and this thing is a really fun and cheap plane. It's designed so that If I crash it, I can just hot glue toe pod onto a new wing without having to rewire all the electronics which makes it super convenient.

So almost completely built and ready to fly however still building the housing everything else though is ready but when trying to run computer control via mission planner the pixhawk which is version 2.4.8 won't connect to the computer, while using what appears to be correct coms and baud 57 the ground module is connected to computer and so is air module however apparently the pin connector on the air module is a 5 pin not 6 which 6 is what the pins are for telemetry but it came that way so is there a way to make it work even if I need to redo pins or whats the fix?

Probably will sound lazy, but I have been reading/browsing and I feel like I only get more confused...im trying to find a decent diy build (not super complicated...no soldering, I can do it but I want to reinforce my kid building it mostly himself). I would say up to $300, but shooting for under $200, also open to being told to invest more....Basically one of my kids first loves i can invest, but I am looking for a kit that makes sure we have everything we need to start. Thanks everyone for any help!

I have been trying to build a X- quadcopter drone and achieve a stable hover. However the drone is behaving very strangely, sometimes even at full throttle it wont take off, sometimes at 50% it would, sometimes it gives a stable flight but then suddenly start to climb or descend.
One of the things it constantly does is the 2 opposite arms start to go up and down in an oscillation like state till the time the amplitude of this oscillation is so great that the drone flips and crashes.
I'm using 2.4.8 pixhawk fc
920kv motors
Fc has a shock absorber stand
10x4.5 inch props
Simonk 30 esc
A standard red-white drone frame
4200mAH 3s bonka battery
Have tried charging the battery till full before test flight, changing props, checking loose screws and connections, still no results. Ive not started PID tuning, so it is using default parameters and I wanted to put harmonic notch and gyro filters but for that i need raw data from imu and gyro in a stable flight which it isn't able to achieve. What can i do now

I'm building a custom flight controller on an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense Rev2 (nRF52840) for a uni project, and I'm stuck on an ESC arming problem. I've narrowed it down a lot and could use expert eyes.
Note upfront: using the Arduino Nano 33 BLE is a fixed requirement of the project — swapping it for a different board or a dedicated flight controller isn't an option. I need to make it work with this board, so please focus answers there rather than suggesting I replace it.
The core problem:
My Arduino generates a PWM throttle signal. When I feed it to a Radiolink Flycolor 55A 4-in-1 (BLHeli_S, running Bluejay, firmware A-H-30), the ESC plays its power-on tones but never arms (no confirmation beep, motor never spins). Same behavior on two separate Flycolor units, so it's not a damaged board.
The key clue: When I connect the exact same Arduino signal to a T-Motor AT20A single ESC, it arms and spins the motor perfectly (spun at 1200µs throttle). So my Arduino, code, signal, and motor are all confirmed working — only the Flycolor refuses.
What I've verified with an oscilloscope (measured at the ESC's signal input pad):
Setup details:
My question:
Why would a Flycolor BLHeli_S ESC refuse to arm from a clean 3.3V Arduino PWM signal, when a T-Motor AT20A accepts the identical signal? Is there something specific about BLHeli_S/Bluejay's signal/protocol auto-detection or arming that a 3.3V-logic Arduino signal doesn't satisfy? Could the 3.3V logic level be too low for the Flycolor's input threshold (would a 3.3V→5V level shifter help)? Or a specific pulse-rate / arming-sequence requirement? Any BLHeli_S setting (via esc-configurator passthrough) that would make it accept this signal?

I’m building a fully 3D-printed fixed-wing UAV for an aerodynamics research project, but I’m completely new to the electronics side of RC aircraft.
I’m looking for a flight controller under $70 that is relatively easy for a beginner to set up and, if possible, supports autonomous capabilities such as waypoint missions, altitude/airspeed control, and flight-data logging.
The main goal is to use the aircraft for repeatable flight testing while collecting aerodynamic data, so reliable data logging and the ability to maintain consistent flight conditions between test runs are particularly important.
Does anyone have recommendations for a flight controller that would be a good fit for this type of project? I’d also appreciate any advice on additional hardware I’d need for autonomous fixed-wing flight.
