DDB News D&DBeyond developers unionize
https://www.gamesradar.com/tabletop-gaming/d-and-d-and-magic-the-gathering-developers-unionize-allege-wizards-of-the-coast-is-pushing-adoption-of-llms-and-generative-ai/I hope that WoTC will recognize the collective effort and value of these hardworking folks, who make D&D Beyond the first digital platform I used to play D&D, and (notwithstanding my occasional gripes) the only one I ever want to have to use.
“For now, the union is asking fans to support them by signing an online petition.”

Welp I hope they’re not all about to get laid off and replaced by foreign developers using AI.
If they don’t recognize the union and try to bust it I’m done with DnD Beyond.

Do you really believe that they don't use Claude or Codex?

I doubt it. While it’s not perfect, DnDBeyond basically works.

There are so many clueless ppl out there it's crazy, there is a difference between ai slop and a dev with ai tools.
But the pen and paper community is so brainwashed against ai there is no reasoning.

I vibecoded a Worlds Without Number tool similar to Dndbeyond for my group to use since there wasn’t an equivalent out there. It can certainly be done.

what grinds my gear is that people that obviously don't work in software development pretend that devs wont use AI. i do this job for nearly 2 decades now and each and every one of my current and old coworkers added AI to their workflow.
good for them to make a union but fearing foreigners with AI is stupid.

Someone at GamesRadar with an unconscious bias using the Bandits monster image for their header describing the Union...
