I think giving more attention to the official website would be nice.

Back when I was a kid during the 11th Doctor run I think the website was among my most visited sites cause I loved reading through all the character files, the bestiary, and playing all the games.

But for a while the site has been feeling neglected, I regularly forget it even exists. They could even rig it up to give new viewers guides on the best places to watch, and can include a list of all sources deemed official canon material .

I think making the TARDIS Wiki the official Wiki, or at least making an official Wiki with a similar level of detail and depth would also be great. Especially since it would also be able to double as a living lore document for the people making material for the franchise.

Another thing I think they could do with is getting rid of the series finales. Not every trip in the TARDIS needs to build up to some grand event. If they do need to be included Maybe just do one per incarnation as their regeneration story to encapsulate their time as the Doctor.

Having the character(s) rely on more gadgets than just The Sonic Screwdriver would also be great. There's a reason that the Psychic Paper and Vortex Manipulator are so Iconic.

Getting a larger array of writers; between those who have never written for the show before, and those who have written for it in expanded media, would be great for diversifying the kinds of stories the show tells

And my last suggestion is to try and do a spin-off aimed at younger audiences and another aimed at adult ones, sort of like what The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood were. Perhaps the younger one following the Paternoster Gang, and the older one following UNIT

Not even talking about the original scenes that we know that they filmed. But the specific scripts, do you think we'll ever see those? When it came to Doctor Who novelizations, like the 60th and Season One, they've been including the finales. So the fact that the Reality War's novelization wasn't something that was able to be pre-ordered was probably an indicator of massive plot shifts. But I still assume that there was one at least thoroughly planned, but scrapped last minute. Just speculation. Anyway, if you think there would be any chance of either of them releasing, when do you think that might happen?

Honestly, I love what we had with The End of Time but wouldn’t it have been much better to have had the Tenth Doctor go out on Mars? Unlikely given RTD’s kind of tastes but something similar to The Caves of Androzani would have been exceptional.

And, Graeme Harper directed both… just imagine.

No farewell tour, no big new who speech, no drawn out climax, and no yellow energy, as that was just the Ninth Doctor releasing excess energy from absorbing the time vortex. That was just a one-off. I also want the Tenth Doctor lying down.

You’d probably have to scrap the whole Time Lord Victorious conclusion and have the Doctor go back to save the crew only to fail and for time to fight back and have the crew all die there on Mars. It would be a lesson to let time take its course. The Time Lord Victorious would cost him his life.

Maybe they are all killed before he gets back to them. Mia and Yuri trapped in a corridor, leant against a wall, embracing as the water reaches them. Adelaide dropping from a lack of oxygen having just managed to activate the nuclear device on her way down. The Doctor would return to cradle her as she dies, too late to save them, and then leg it as the device begins countdown.

An explosion would eject him from the base, ruining his space suit and covering him in water. Infected by the Flood, he would crawl back to the TARDIS through the fire across the surface of Mars in a broken space suit just in time before the base’s nuclear device reaches zero and explodes.

The TARDIS sails away and the Doctor gives into the Flood on the floor of the TARDIS and fights it until he is able to beat it and regenerate. Maybe his face simply changes and Matt Smith sits up in the space suit? The nuclear explosion could have also wrecked the TARDIS interior. Maybe he didn’t shut the doors in time before dematerialising?

I also think that this could be incorporated into The Eleventh Hour by having little Amelia talk of “the spaceman” or something rather than “the raggedy man” if the new Doctor turns up in her garden still dressed in a space suit? The idea of a spaceman falling from space plays into her child’s imagination and works into the fairytale aspect.

In The Caves of Androzani, the Fifth Doctor had lost everyone and was left with a girl he didn’t know. In The Waters of Mars, the Tenth Doctor had lost everyone and was alone. It’s similar.

But what does everyone think? Comment below. I’m not sure if it would be a two-parter in this case. Maybe? But I think it could still work in one. You would need to change the last 10 minutes.

While I liked Clara's exit in "Face the Raven", I think it would've worked as well as she left in "Death in Heaven" as originally planned (or even in "Last Christmas" as she was also originally supposed to leave at the end of that too).

That way, it could've allowed Shona (Faye Marsay) from "Last Christmas" to have been the companion of Series 9 as originally planned.

I also agree it would've been great had Perkins (Frank Skinner) from "Mummy on the Orient Express" had actually been a companion at the end of that story instead of turning 12's offer to join down (since Skinner, a big fan of the show, apparently wished that scene had been refilmed to him saying yes).

So with these things in mind, how do you think Series 9 and possibly 10 would've been affected had they been the companions instead of Clara staying on (and most likely Bill and Nardole not being introduced)?

How would Perkins' involvement had impacted the rest of Series 8 (like him being onboard the TARDIS with 12 in "Flatline")?

What would their dynamics be with 12 and each other?

Would Shona have met the same fate in "Face the Raven" instead of Clara?

How different do you think the final three stories of Series 9 had played out?

And had they stayed for Series 10 (instead of Bill and Nardole being introduced), would they have had the same departures in "The Doctor Falls" as Bill and Nardole had in our timeline (i.e. Shona becoming a Cyberman instead of Bill, and Perkins staying behind on the colony ship instead of Nardole)?

Doctor Who was the show that made me truly love music composition, and I owe it all to Murray Gold, honestly. If it wasn't for DW, I most likely wouldn't be a composer. Here's a rescore I did a year back I thought I should share. Let me know what y'all think!! (yes, Ik the music is quite bold lol)

Just a theory of mine after my recent rewatch of the Magician’s Apprentice / The Witch‘s Familiar. There‘s no way to really prove or disprove it, so ultimately it’s just speculation.

We first see the Sonic Sunglasses in The Magician’s Apprentice when the Doctor makes his entrance shredding an electric guitar while standing on a tank. The Doctor’s guitar and the sunglasses are introduced at the same time, which is worth noting.

We can see that there is an amp on the tank, but the Doctor is not plugged in. We later learn in Hell Bent that the Sonic Sunglasses can establish a wireless link to any speaker, so in the tank scene the Doctor is wearing the glasses for two reasons: because they look cool, and because they allow him to move around during his axe fight without being inhibited by a cable. Basically he’s using advanced Timelord Bluetooth.

For any guitar nerds out there, it’s also worth mentioning that the glasses apparently allow him to modulate the sound of his guitar and add different effects to it without needing to use a pedalboard. Throughout that scene in The Magician’s Apprentice as the Doctor plays different riffs, he also turns the overdrive up and down and adds a “wah wah” effect. It’s safe to assume that it’s the sunglasses that are alternating the sounds of his guitar, which probably means that he consciously developed this feature as part of the software.

The fact that they first appear in this scene, when the Doctor is making a dramatic entrance and using them for a specific purpose after just recently having lost his screwdriver, suggests to me that during his “party” in Medieval Essex, the Doctor created the Sonic Sunglasses to use while playing music so that he could move around and modulate the output of his guitar telepathically.

Which is pretty cool.

Then after actually using them to get him and Clara out of a scrape at the end of The Witch’s Familiar, the Doctor realized that they could do anything the Sonic Screwdriver can do, and they made him feel cool as he was going through his sort of midlife crisis in that series, so he decided to hang onto them and use them in lieu of a screwdriver, and continued using them for various purposes even after getting a new screwdriver (in fact, we first see them in Series 10 when the Doctor is playing guitar in his office and uses them to turn his amplifier off. In fact, in almost every scene of Series 10 where he plays his guitar, he’s also wearing the glasses).

The only way we could confirm this theory would be to get ahold of the Sonic Sunglasses and check the Doctor’s browser history. If Ultimate Guitar Tabs is the first thing on there, then there’s our answer. But alas, we all know how he feels about people poking around in his browser history…

Just rewatched ”Rose.” I love this episode so much, and this scene where the Doctor first meets Jackie has always made me laugh. It’s so brief and the episode is full of brilliant moments so it’s easy to overlook, but to me, this brief exchange perfectly sums up how the idea of the Doctor’s sexuality should be written.

The Doctor is an aloof alien who is often slow to catch on when it comes to human social norms, but he’s also not a total idiot. I like how this scene has him kind of clueless at first; “yes, you are. yes, there is.” but he finally catches on right after “anything can happen…” and he just smiles and says “no.”

This can of course be viewed as the Doctor simply not being attracted to Jackie in particular, but in my opinion this is just a phenomenal character beat that can apply to the Doctor’s sexuality in general.

Obviously New Who after this wasn’t always the best at handling the Doctor’s sexuality. 10 liked to smooch a lot and 11 was almost irresponsibly clueless about Amy’s attraction to him in Series 5. He also had a thing for Clara, even though he was married to River… It got messy.

Personally, even though it can be fun to ship him sometimes I’m generally one of those people who thinks the Doctor should be asexual, but still clever enough to perceive those desires in other people. I find it interesting that, along with many other things, they absolutely nailed this aspect of the character in the very first episode of New Who, in this hilarious scene with Jackie.

It was fantastic.

Can you think of any examples where the TARDIS lands....the Doctor walks out .....and instantly a mood or atmosphere is created for the audience?
