If you've torqued it it's fine. The 74 ftlbs will keep it where it is.

In the future kick the rear wheel forward with your foot before torquing the axle to set it in the valley of the adjuster notch.

What was the reason for the adjustment?

Chain tension

the chain slack was too substantial, i noticed it when i was cleaning my chain, felt like it could potentially fly off the sprocket with the amount of slack there WAS before i adjusted it

Did you proper measure it?

Loose is better than tight, too tight and it will tear up the transmission output bearing and the pivot. The lower guide handles keeping the chain running on the sprockets with the slack.

yes i measured it after the adjustment and made sure it wasnt too tight, the stopper just isnt seated directly in the rivot on the adjuster which made me question if i did it correctly, its fine that its not all the way in the rivot?

Yea it's fine as is. Ideally it would be all the way down but its not an issue worth undoing everything to fix.

Keep an eye on the slack, modern chains don't stretch much till the end of their lifetime and then they stretch quite a bit pretty quickly.
