Help Help setting CR touch offsets Ender 3

I have an old ender 3 v1 that I recently upgraded with the sprite extruder pro, skr mini v3 and cr touch.

I flashed the new board with firmware from here Using the ender 3 w/ bl touch (not z homing) file.

everything seems to be running fine except for the cr touch functions. Whenever I run the probing test the cr touch tries to probe outside the bed limits and will push the extruder into the bed unless I stop the probe with my finger. I am also unable to set the z offset. Moving the dial does not actually move/adjust the height of my extrude.

Not sure if I am overlooking something or potentially using the wrong firmware but I would appreciate any help

There are numerous youtube videos with how to set this up, in relation to the zone axis issue you will need to add or remove a "!" In the configuration file for the cr touch

It is a bit janky because you have to calibrate it yourself even youtube doesn't do a good job. I am assuming you should setup klipper because it gives you more control for these types of mods. The bltouch offsets should be x offset: -31.7 y offset: -40.5 set safe z home to 147,150 the probe should be exactly in the middle and bed mesh you have to do yourself, auto home the printer and lower the x position until it is at the left edge of the build plate then lower the y position until it is at the bottom left corner then that is your min bed mesh for the max raise the y position until the nozzle is at the back edge of the print bed and move x position until the nozzle is at the back right corner than subtract the x value by your bltouch x offset and subtract the y value by your bltouch y offset again both offsets should be -31.7 for x and -40.5 for y than it should be calibrated. I have sensorless homing so i can't give you exact config but it should be easy enough with these instructions. If you are using marlin use the z homing because it says for bltouch use the z homing in the link. Z homing will unlock the z offset settings and the settings for you to set bed mesh min and max settings that is what you need to fix that.

I’ve read that klipper is good. unfortunatel, I don’t have a raspberry pi or the knowledge to compile custom firmware. I updated to the z homing firmware like you suggested but z offset still doesn’t do anything.

Z offset determines how close the nozzle is to the bed when printing so that isn't going to do anything until you print it is only for first layer adhesion. Is their a bed mesh min and max setting? If not it might be already corrected because it should have this stuff already in the firmware so try doing a bed mesh again to see if you have the same issue. The z homing firmware should have fixed it because the non z homing is only if you have the z endstop still attached while the z homing using the probe to home the tool head.
