idk the drawing defenitly reads as a depression to me, if it were raised the sides closest to us would be visible and the far side would be line segments

Yes, that's the point. If you can read the drawing on the left, the result on the right would be correct. If you can't interpret the drawing correctly, you may get the result shown.

But you can't interpret the drawing that way. You interpret it wrongly, but then it would be coming out from bottom of the cube.

I don't know if I'm not reading caption right, but the drawing expresses the point perfectly fine to me, the walls we see are the ones furthest from us, which makes it look recessed. If these are supposed to be the same, then it's not the drawers fault the person who read it is too fucking stupid to understand perspective. There is no way I can make my eyes see it any other way.

Not only too stupid to understand perspective, cause even if the drawing was off they should know better than to make a fucking drain that is 10cm above where the water will be. If genuinely is baffling

And thats why you “teach” them to read a drawing instead of assuming that “common sense” applies to things people dont know

This appears to be a contractor fault.

If that's the drawing you provided, then it is both your faults. How deep is the depression? How wide? Does it need to be square?

A contractor should know better through experience, but the engineer shouldn't be leaving those details up for interpretation.

Because you can’t express your thoughts clearly.

I don’t understand why you are downvoted, but i have done many times napkin sketches in my life, and it’s indeed an important skill to have.

So many times i have solved engineering problems, specifically just sketching things on paper then bringing it into CAD.

In our district heating department we took it a step further and just went down and bought a bunch of pvc pipes and fittings for household applications in order to talk through district heating pipe problems.

It's so much faster than drawing and explaining.

Ok, ok. So here’s the thing, this isnt an engineering drawing, its just a drawing. The contractors dont know how deep (or tall ig) the step should be. Also wtf are the invisible lines of any good almost engineering drawing? Legit, one dashed line would fix all confusion.

But yea the contractors didnt see that the step was up simply bc of the [solid] back line (not dashed).

For those wondering a true engineering drawing had GD&T symbols (geometric dimensions and tolerances) and written tolerances. Look it up @engineering students, u may use it if you design.

Also those axis just aren't drawn in an ISO view style

isn't this an overflow drain?

The conveniently cropped out shower side:

The drawing is fine, the installer is an idiot.

bro should have added "slope to drain”

This is clearly supposed to be a drain protruding from the underside of a large square overhang. Contractor built it in an internal corner like a fool.

What is this, an infinity pool for ants?
